9 years later... just wish things were different, that simple. Would be great to see what you would have, could have & should have been in your 30s now. So knowing that you were taken away so suddenly in our early 20s, it sucks man. But, you gained your wings. And while it still hurts all these years later, I try to remind myself that you're in Paradise, where I hope to be when my time comes. Still remember the days when you, Lenny, Pat, Marlin, Nadir, Deon & I would run the courts at the Rec center. Just miss you, bruh. Rhylee. The Good Boy. When we first got you as a puppy in 2012, it was to help my mother cope with the stresses of chemo & radiation following her stint with breast cancer. You were much more for her, our family & myself than that. You helped me get through A LOT of dark times in my life the last 7 to 8 years. Thank you for always knowing when something was bothering/upsetting me & cuddling up under me...thank you for always being the one to jet down the stairs to jump on me & greet me when I would come home from work...thank you for letting me be obsessed with you & never being camera shy...thank you for being my good luck charm in getting my 1st big sneaker win (the 2012 Air Jordan Bred 11s. He was all in my phone as I was trying to win the sneakers lol)...most importantly, thank you for holding on long enough for me to say my final goodbye to you yesterday. You were going to be euthanized this Thursday due to your complications with kidney disease, but, you passed away on your own, on your own terms, under the comfort of home & family this morning. We're truly going to miss you, mutt. For those who know me well enough, you all know that I was never much of a dog person before Rhylee came into the picture, but Goddamn I love(d) this lil guy. So needless to say, when I received the news yesterday of your physical state, and then went to go see you and give you one last back/head/belly rub, I cried like a child. This shit hurt, and now I know how others who have had pets pass away feel. They're not even pets, they become family...and that's EXACTLY what you were/are, Rhylee. I'm gonna miss you so much, buddy. Only been with us for 7 years but you did SO much for us that it felt longer. Thank you, man. May you rest in Doggy Paradise. Til we meet again. This morning, as I wake up OFFICIALLY a 30 year old (or young, depending on who calls it) man, I take the time to reflect & give thanks. First and foremost to God for allowing me to see another day, another year, another decade. Secondly, I want to thank everyone who's ever had some sort of part in my life. Thank you to my loved ones that I have lost over the years, the pain from losing you not only destroyed me, but it also gave me a proper understanding of what true love is, what it's like to love someone so much that their absence lingers, which only made me cherish those memories and those who are still here even more. To my loved ones who are still here, I thank you all for understanding my mind, my heart & my passion...I truly appreciate you all for giving me more of a reason to stick around and continue living. 29 was definitely an eye opener, a struggle emotionally and mentally, I spent many of days/nights as a 29 year old fighting the losses we've endured, contemplating & humbling myself and changing my approach to things which I believe has only made me stronger as I walk into this new journey that I'm starting off from scratch. Here is to a new decade of life, here is to CONTINUING life & well...here's to 30!!!!!! Birthday Boy in FULL effect. LET'S GET IT!!!! LOVE YOU ALL AND THANK YOU 💙💙💙💙💙💙
