Announcement: Slight schedule change :)
Hey everyone! I'm formally announcing that my upload schedule is shifting from uploading on saturdays to sundays! I just got a new mon. - fri. full time job so I'm not gonna be able to do most of my translating on fridays like I normally do anymore. I'm still gonna be working on translations though, just at a slightly different time!

New Doku Doku Mori Mori chapter tomorrow
Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't been on here in a while. I've been searching for a job and it's taken up a lot of my time. Anyways, I just wanted to notify you that the new chapter of DDMM will be out tomorrow instead of tonight because I'm busy with something else. Check back here tomorrow for the latest chapter!

Horror Manga Recommendations Part 13: Dear Anemone by Rin Matsui
Hello everyone! It's been a while since I've given a manga rec. but a friend of mine recently notified me of a new series that I think is pretty cool so far!
"When Gaku lands on the Galapagos Islands, a paradise is the last thing he'll be experiencing. With creatures undergoing horrific evolutions, only one rule still stands--the survival of the fittest!"
Dear Anemone is a great new series that's a body horror story with some battle royale elements. As Gaku explores the island to find his missing friend, he witnesses people transform into human/animal monsters as well as the rest of his team getting picked off one by one.
Anyways, there's only 2 chapters out so far, but that just means you can catch up quickly! You can read them on Viz and Manga Plus

No chapters this week!
Hey everyone! Sorry I've been silent for a little while. I've been busy searching for jobs since I'm not a student anymore. Anyways, I haven't had much time to start new manga series lately, so I can't really make any recommendations because I don't want to recommend something I haven't even read myself. I'm still gonna try to make manga recs on weeks where I don't have any chapters to upload, but it might not be every week.
Also, if you have any good horror or suspense manga, let me know! I'd love to know what you guys are reading. Have a good weekend! :)

Horror Manga Recommendations Part 12: Black Night Parade
Happy Holidays Everyone! This week's recommendation is Black Night Parade by Hikaru Nakamura, who is also the creator of the popular manga series Saint Young Men! I'll keep this short and sweet so you all can enjoy your holidays/evenings.
"Hino Miharu spends Christmas the same way every year, working alone at a dead-end part-time job at a convenience store. He’d do just about anything to land a full-time gig, but when he runs into a shadowy Santa Claus dressed all in black, he has no idea he’s encountered the real deal. Well, almost. While the normal Santa Claus who dresses in red and white oversees Christmas for all the good boys and girls, his dark counterpart is in charge of handling the bad children—and Miharu just wound up on the naughty list. Gobbled up by a slavering, talking sack, he’s spirited away to the Arctic, where he finds himself the newest employee of a massive Christmas operation. Yeah, the pay and benefits are great, and his coworkers sure are cute, but is this the dream job he’s been hoping for, or the beginning of a Christmas nightmare?!"
Admittedly, this series isn't really my kind of thing, but it's fun to be able to recommend something festive this holiday season. I was only able to read the first few chapters online, so it looks like you'll need to pick up copies published by Seven Seas if you want to keep reading because I can't find much beyond chapter 3. From what I did see though, this series has a pretty unique concept and sense of humor as well as interesting art/character designs so I think it's worth looking into if you're interested! Have a good night :)

Horror Manga Recommendations part 11: Fool Night by Yasuda Kasumi
Hello everyone! This week's recommendation is Fool Night.
I wanna start by giving a shout out to tigdogboy on TikTok for making a video about this series and helping me discover it. He has some really great horror manga videos so consider checking them out.
"The earth of the distant future is covered in thick clouds, and the sun no longer shines. Plants wither, and oxygen is thin. To fight extinction, humankind has developed a technology that turns humans into plants, providing a small amount of oxygen. Is this process sustainable? Is it ethical?
Toshiro Kamiya must consider these questions as he’s faced with a difficult choice—save his family or save himself. Kamiya is at the end of his rope. His mother is ill, and his job barely pays for her medication, much less food. With few options left, he considers the life-changing process of floromorphosis. Ready to give his body up for a payday, Kamiya is about to explore the limits of society’s waning humanity."
Honestly I haven't read much of this series because print copies in English are going to be released next June and I'd rather read a physical copy, but having read the first chapter, I can tell that this will be a really unique series with it's art style and progressive body horror. Also, I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but the cover is super cool and well designed imo.
I also really like how the characters are being presented as well. Kamiya is a really interesting main character who's been failed by society and is just trying to get by, which I'm sure a lot of people can sympathize with. I'm not sure how his story will end, but I'm rooting (y'know, like a plant :D ) for him so far!
Horror stories that revolve around plants seem to be a lot less common than stories about animals, monsters, etc. so I'm glad to find a story like this. I recommend it if you like movies like Invasion of the Body Snatchers from 1978.
Volume 1 in English is available for pre-order!

Announcement (11/28/23) : I'm going on a brief hiatus until December 10th!
Yeah so I'm in my final semester of college and I have a lot of exams and projects coming up so I'm taking a quick break from translating. Any chapters of Pumpkin Night or Doku Doku Mori Mori that may come out will have to be delayed until the 10th. I will be checking up on here every once in a while though so feel free to still send in any questions you may have. Thank you! (and if you also have exams coming up: good luck!)
