They've got me completely wrong because the data gets skewed by how you listen in random ways. Don't let it tell you what you are. The people that run that company are a bunch of homogenising data-stealing pricks and their algorithm and influence will be the death of music. Make your OWN PLAYLISTS. Keep them Private. Find your own way in music listening by using things like IT as a TOOL only to recommend and find music that you then can go and buy via Bandcamp and other means to support the artists that they DO NOT.

Today is release day for this compilation put together by @thebusinessrecs as a tribute to our deeply missed friend/artist & collaborator Geneviève Castrée/Elverum (1981-2016). Featuring amazing artist friends doing covers, variations and re-interpretations of songs by Geneviève. Get it on Bandcamp (via link in bio). All profits from this release will be donated to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Many thanks go to Nick Rennis for coordinating everything, Nich Wilbur for mastering, and all involved. =============== When we were recording the songs GRAND-SEC//ALUNISSAGE that I chose to do for the compilation together at the Unknown @anacortesunknownstudio I suggested the dreamy vocal melody she sings to be taken into a dream-pop world and repeated more in the song. As always, Geneviève had very strong & clear ideas about it being a concise moment of beauty and a short tribute of it's own to a France Gall single from the late 80's. (Such a powerhouse, Ge! Every idea always meticulously considered down to perfection!). We resolved that I could do a remix of this track one day to see out my idea. This remix idea became more real when Nick Rennis asked me to contribute to the compilation. I wanted it to contain all the darkness and power of the original version of GRAND-SEC but then drift off into the state of meditation that Geneviève had talked about achieving through our unfinished project of healing/relaxation music we had in the works before her passing. So this is it, Sheahan Drive & Ô Paon transitioning into the world of ôpital in a couple of Ô Paon songs joined together. I still hope to finish a record for that project someday in the not too distant future. In the moments when I get to sit down and spend time with that material it is the perfect zone to meet with her memory and zone into the state that her music always brings me, encapsulating all feeling and experience in one. A mournful pizza party, an hilarious joke about corruption, all darkness and light rolled up into the one perfect statement of summation at the breakfast table. I miss you Geneviève. Great Interview on the Science Show with Peter Godfrey-Smith who has written a book directly linked to one of my favorite lifetime musings; the consciousness of everything.  I tend to agree with Cristof Koch more in thinking that everything with a function or interaction with it’s environment therefore has a form of experience, and would have some sensation of consciousness.  But anyways, this book should be good reading.
