Do you ever think that River’s message to the Doctor at the library was her last desperate attempt to live? That she knew she shouldn’t have sent it but she hoped maybe the Doctor figured out how to save her anyways?
That if she knew Fourteen existed she must’ve been so relieved to see Ten. That she might’ve been hoping that the future version of the Doctor from long after Darrillium might’ve managed to figure it out after all.
That she could survive.
Only to have her hopes crushed when she realized that not only was Ten not Fourteen. He had also never met her.
After 25 years of losing hope in her continued survival she gains it for just a moment. Only to be horrified at the fact that it was worse than she could’ve ever imagined.

There's a certain story that I think is told in Game of Thrones with Brienne and the way Gwendoline Christie plays her that is impossible in the books, when Brienne still has a title and a possible marriage prospect waiting for her. It's the kind of story that can only be told with Brienne as Gwendoline Christie, a woman in her late thirties at the time, embodying her, and with the absence of any detailed backstory. The story is that of a woman who was unable to live up to the highborn expectations of her, who spent much of her youth looking for any possible role that she could find in this medieval society, and finally found it in Renly and his rainbow guard. He's closed off to her, romantic love is forever closed off to her, but she's an honored member of his retinue and that is close enough. Then she finds a cause to serve in Catelyn and Sansa, and a kinship with Jaime through their trials, and she grows to love him, even though she knows all the while they're on different sides and he should choose her side.
Then he seems to defect, gifts her the knighthood she has never quite had, fights with her on the battlefield, and seems to choose her over Cersei. That elusive promise of romantic love is finally hers, even if it's not something that has defined her for most of her life. He doesn't choose her, even though he knows he should...he chooses self-destruction, to die by Cersei's side, because he never quite believed he was capable of more. Brienne is hurt, but it doesn't break her...because this is Brienne as embodied by Gwendoline, who has found her life's destiny....and it's not Jaime. She's a knight, first and foremost, and Jaime did give that to her, and she will serve the Starks, will write his name in honor, will not hate a doomed man. Maybe he was her last chance at a conventional life in that society (love, marriage, children) but she was not made for a conventional life, and she'll appreciate the life she does have, one that isn't centered around a husband.
I think this interpretation is why Gwendoline defended Brienne's ending so fiercely, and sought joy in it. I think if you're of a certain age and your life hasn't ended up the way you or other people thought it would, it does resonate with you, but it's a story that doesn't quite work for a twenty-year-old Brienne. As a shipper, I understand why people hate it, but I don't think it's entirely a sad ending for Brienne as she is written in the show, even if I wanted Brienne and Jaime together instead.
And we'll always have that brief glance of the Braime wedding dress anyway, if nothing else.

Idk bout you all but between the Doctor and River, River cannot cook to save her life. She's just chaos in the kitchen. She was raised to be a weapon. Weapons don't cook. And during her uni years, there's the school canteen but she doesn't think it's cool enough. OH WAIT–considering she's such a huge nerd, she's probably one of those who are so caught up in reading/studying that they forget to eat and drink.
The elder Ponds stage an intervention (the Doctor took them to Luna after being thoroughly threatened by Amelia). Amy remembers how Mels would be picky with her food but ate anything offered to her by Rory and Brian. And true enough when they get to the library where River has been cooped up in, River hasn't eaten nor drunk water for a good while now. When asked about it, she complains that the canteen never gets the dishes right (Luna's canteen has one of the best chefs in that era. River just said that because it wasn't cooked by Rory or Brian).
They make sure she constantly has a steady supply of her favorite dishes afterwards with the Doctor in charge of ensuring it never runs out. Which he does with all seriousness, never once missing. He'd definitely deny that the gleaming sword on display in the elder Ponds' living room helped. A LOT. He even enlisted the TARDIS' help by setting reminders.
He missed a couple of times (he's the Doctor after all) but another version of him would swoop in to save his ass. River notices of course and calls him out on it. He pleads mercy. She makes him pay by dragging him to help her study firsthand. And by firsthand, she meant him taking her to the actual events. He learns early on not to grouse about archeology in front of her that young because she goes 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 and then refuses to talk to him afterwards.

The Doctor also upgrades the elder Ponds' phones so they can call River despite having literal millennia between them.
Older versions of River learned a few dishes but the Doctor is so used to being the one who cooks her meals that he sulked and had a tantrum when she refused to let him cook. (Years later on Darillium, the Doctor would bring it up. River: THAT WAS JUST ONCE. ARE YOU NEVER LETTING THAT GO? GIVE A GIRL A BREAK 🙄)
But then it would be fun for River to have something she can never be good at. Like she aces everything else EXCEPT for that one thing. And I vote for cooking. It's just funny to me that she's this ultracool being–the daughter of the Last Centurion and the Girl Who Waited, the Child of Death and Time–but simply cannot cook to save her life.
She's just spoiled bbgirl. Give her a break.

She remembered the night that Lady Catelyn had learned her sons were dead, the two young boys she’d left at Winterfell to keep them safe. Brienne had known that something was terribly amiss. She had asked her if there had been news of her sons. “I have no sons but Robb,” Lady Catelyn had replied. She had sounded as if a knife were twisting her belly. Brienne had reached across the table to give her comfort, but she stopped before her fingers brushed the older woman’s, for fear that she would flinch away. Lady Catelyn had turned over her hands, to show Brienne the scars on her palms and fingers where a knife once bit deep into her flesh. Then she had begun to talk about her daughters. “Sansa was a little lady,” she had said, “always courteous and eager to please. She loved tales of knightly valor. She will grow into a woman far more beautiful than I, you can see that. I would often brush her hair myself. She had auburn hair, thick and soft … the red in it would shine like copper in the light of the torches.” She had spoken of Arya too, her younger daughter, but Arya was lost, most likely dead by now. Sansa, though … I will find her, my lady, Brienne swore to Lady Catelyn’s restless shade. I will never stop looking. I will give up my life if need be, give up my honor, give up all my dreams, but I will find her.
