No because if you think about this more in the context of how pirates were then there are a lot of parallels that can be drawn. The existence of pirates was less to just steal shit from other sailors but to live outside of the oppressive system of, what was usually at the time, a monarchy. A chance at freedom and a pretty nice pay to boot. Pirates were a living protest to the system and in a way a spark of something new in the world of sailors who didn't want the menial jobs of being a crew on a navy ship and getting paid just a tiny bit to only work for a government that hates them. Instead pirates were more free in what they could do. Don't get me wrong though, Pirates were violent and stole shit a lot but it's more of the idea that they were only around to do so and that's all they'll ever be that I argue against. Another thing about pirates is that they had the room to be merciful and only engaged in violence when they were challenged and not given the gold that they demanded. AGAIN NOT AN ACTION I CONDONE BUT SOMETHING TO KEEP IN MIND.

If we keep the central idea of Phoenix and Miles being in direct opposition to one another, we could very well see this as Phoenix being a pirate and Miles being a part of a navy fleet, likely a Vice Admiral, for the government, possibly set out to be capturing Phoenix and his crew for their crimes. Phoenix would be the captain, taking Mia's place after her death of course, and Maya would be the quartermaster. I like to think Miles would almost leave the navy to join Phoenix's crew but ultimately stay back and request council with the king or Fleet Admiral. Ultimately working along side helping Phoenix and his crew whilst not being a part of it.

They can also be gay along the way, why not.

I had an idea for a Jesskas comic based on this comic by @/laquilasse! So here's that!
