I tended the flowerbed today, I with soil caked fingers made a place to push the seeds down into the earth. I made my wishes that new life would come with the gentle warmth of spring and then - with trowel in hand, I dug and pulled up the rotten roots of failed attempts at growth and placed them to the side and I thought how much these tangled things remind me that even in death there is a lesson to be learnt.
