This First Temple-era seal was discovered in Jerusalem, unique due to the rarity of seals in general but made exceptional by its owner. The top line of the Proto-Hebrew engraving reads 𐤋𐤏𐤋𐤄𐤍𐤇 (“L‘lyhnḥ” or “Belonging to Elihana”) with 𐤁𐤕 𐤂𐤀𐤋 (“bt G’l” or “Daughter of Go’el”) underneath it. Seals served as status symbols, displaying the owner’s influence and responsibility in making economic decisions. Such duties were almost always expected to be undertaken by men, however, the existence of this artifact is one of a few exciting examples of women defying this norm. Further, Elihana is identified by her family (father’s) name and not that of a husband, suggesting an even greater degree of personal power. The Israel Antiquities Authority dates the seal to the early 6th century BCE, but some scholars argue that it should be placed between the late 8th and early 7th centuries BCE.

i was actually just about to find this post of mine to add to it. her incredibly racist tumblr posts have recently been unearthed and people are losing their minds. anyway, i'm not surprised in the slightest and the tattoo is exhibit one.
everything i learn about ethel cain is not only against my will but somehow makes her sound worse
#also she's apparently glorifying incest with her new album or something#which is insane#christian antisemitism

Monotheism was not a mere mathematical reduction of many gods to one God. That might have economised on temple-building, but it would not have transformed the human condition. What did transform it was the discovery of a God beyond the universe. This idea, and this alone, has the power to redeem life from tragedy and meaninglessness.
- Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks zt"l, The Great Partnership: God, Science and the Search for Meaning p.29

Karen Gerson Şarhon, editor in chief of El Amaneser ("The Dawn,") , a 32-page monthly Ladino supplement to Turkey’s weekly Jewish newspaper and the world’s only monthly Judeo-Spanish publication. El Amaneser is a project of the nonprofit she directs, the Sephardic Cultural Research Center, which acts as the hub of Istanbul’s Jewish community and a treasure trove of precious Ladino texts and translations. Included in these archives are recordings of native Ladino speakers preserved by the Center’s Ladino Database Project, and other undertakings such as the most comprehensive recordings and research of Maftirim, a musical tradition unique to the Turkish-Jewish community that emerged through interactions with Muslim Sufi orders in Edirne. Şarhon notes proudly that the center also has a variety of language-learning programs on its website, the only one on the internet with a Ladino language option. Şarhon grew up in a Ladino-speaking family in Istanbul, and her passion for the language intensified when she formed Los Pasharos Sefaradis (The Sephardic Birds), the first ensemble dedicated to researching and performing Sephardic music, in which she sang the old Ladino songs in the authentic style of her grandmothers. She went on to be a champion of Sephardic and Ladino cultural preservation. Read more about her accomplishments here.
“Ke mos biva esta lingua ermoza de muestros abuelos i el Dio ke mos de fuersa i enerjiya para luchar kontra su desaparision,” Karen Gerson Şarhon proclaims in Ladino. “Long live this beautiful language of our ancestors, and may God give us strength and energy to strive against its disappearance.”

Gaza vetters GoFundMes are Nigerian prince scams for 21 year olds that use Tumblr religiously and watch short form video content and lost their tech literacy in the war.
The narrative that questioning the motives of bots that spam inboxes asking for money is somehow racist or pro-genocide is manufactured exclusively by scammers who found out that including the word Gaza in their transparent scams makes Gen z forget all internet safety, logic, or research skills.
It's easy to get caught up in feeling helpless about a cause you feel is justified but you literally can't let it cloud the very basic judgement and tech literacy you learned in third grade.
GoFundMe doesn't operate in Palestine territories. Asking people to use their bank accounts to be money mules (yes, this is happening on bluesky) is exceptionally illegal and your money is never going where they say it is.
If this is a cause you care about, donate to real, established charities. There are plenty.

just got hit with the memory of a date i went on a few years ago where i was asked to look to the left as soon as i mentioned judaism. i thought he was pointing something out to me, but the moment i looked back at him with confusion, he said "oh phew, your nose is normal." wish it happened when i was a bit older so i'd have the courage to slap him across the face
