Truly one of the dumbest platform moderation decisions I've seen is determining that someone has broken tos, deserves a non-permanent ban, and then not telling them what they did wrong, but still allowing them back on the platform to likely do exactly the same thing as before. How the fuck did I manage to get banned from Telegram twice while only using it to message one person, and then support just tells a bot to tell me to fuck off, and leaves my account frozen waiting a couple of weeks to be deleted for...I guess my own archive purposes??

An interesting problem social media presents that I don't see discussed much is the different faces people see not because you're changing your personality around different people, but because different platforms are harder to show different parts of yourself, so you show your whole self to the people you're connected to, but there's not always enough overlap over platforms for them to see the whole You. People on Facebook don't know about the philosophical discussions I have on discord, but it takes a conscious reminder to think that they also don't know I like political philosophy in general, because they have no idea that discord server even exists, and Facebook is just bad for having those discussions. I can be my truest self around someone irl for years then they find out after that whole time that I don't like bright colors, and they never knew that whole time, even though everyone else knew, but they never asked and I never needed to tell them. Life is a lot more stressful trying to keep track of the contexts people have about me so I can make sure new information doesn't give them some wild new incorrect paradigm shift. So I don't. I don't need that stress. And I say my personality's a filter, 'cause the people I want in my life stay, and the people who think it's weird to talk about linen good polyester bad leave, because they're ok without me, and I'm not ok without me

Heterosexual relationship culture is so alien to me and I don’t know if it’s the fact I’m not cishet or the fact I’m autistic but I hear so many things that make me go “Am I insane or are they?”

There’s a lot of hate on widowers and I saw a woman say “You cannot compete with a dead woman.��� which is perhaps a reasonable statement to say if he’s constantly comparing you to his dead partner but that wasn’t what the post was about. And I realized “Oh my God, these people genuinely feel like they’re constantly in competition with their spouse’s exes and the ex being dead makes them feel insecure that they cannot best her.”

There’s also been an uptick in the ‘men and women cannot be ‘just’ friends’ rhetoric which I feel like is extremely dangerous and reflects the rise of fascism and sexism. Some of these stories of women feeling threatened by their husband’s female best friend have some merit and others are like “I feel angry that my husband still talks to the girl he grew up next door to and she and her wife are invited to family gatherings and included in family photos sometimes. Am I right to be suspicious?” No. No you’re not. I cannot imagine being you and living with that high level of stress and paranoia and constant torment and jealousy about your husband having a positive relationship with anyone who isn’t you.
