Mao Mao didn't make it...

Not sure what happened, maybe they didn't hatch right? I found them clinging to some grass, against the wall of the container, with what looked like fibers from their cocoon stuck to them.

Their wings are all tattered too...

They were in there for a lot longer than my research said they would be, so maybe being in the cocoon too long caused it? Either way, rest in peace little guy...I decided to preserve the body. I don't think any animals are going to eat it, it's surprisingly dry.

I'm opening emergency commissions! After living in my flat for 3, nearly 4 years, my landlord is selling the flat so me, my boyfriend (@holocrypticdreamer), and both our cats need to find a new place to live! I have 2 months to vacate, but the housing market here moves quickly, and unfortunately I can't move away as my work keeps me here. Being openly trans and living in the UK, it's not exactly desirable to go job hunting at the minute when I know the company I'm with accepts me as I am, lol. I'll also be leaving my PayPal in my bio, if anyone feels able to send a little my way.

Last one of the batch!

The frog hat in the reference photo I was given was so iconic, I couldn't remove it.

So I had to think of a steel type pokemon to replace it and...well, it's not a frog, but isn't togedemaru perfect?

Looking at steel type trainers for inspiration for this one was...odd. Because 99% of canonical steel type trainers are all gruff and stone faced. It works! It makes sense! But to do a different approach to that was fun, and I think I managed to capture different vibes while still giving off "steel" energy.

Had a blast! Already got 3 other commissions lined up now. We now return to my usual art style hahaha- (If I can still remember how to draw in it...kidding, of course-!)

At long last, give it up for what's probably now my personal favorite of this commission series! Or at least tied for first, with the Fairy type gym leader. There's a lot of bias and good timing that came with this one. We decided on this retro, 80's sort of vibe...And this came right after I had just discovered the band TWRP, which is very 80's inspired rock. Was grooving to their songs while I worked on this, and the ideas just came flowing! Rotom Keytar? YES! Bright, vibrant colours? YES! The patterns, the pins on the strap, everything! I love this one.

But next one is the dark type gym leader!

I think this one was made just as I was being dunked into my monster hunter addiction with the release of Wilds...and it...shows...

Just slightly. I tried not to lean too hard into monster hunter armor aesthetics, because that wouldn't match but-

At the same time?? No, that's not gore magala and lala barina inspired- haha noooo not at all, what are you talking aboutttt...surely not...

Next up is the Fighting type gym leader! I'm surprised by how much I like this. I'm not crazy about fighting types, even though I do love Lucario- But something about this design makes me very pleased. I think it's because while looking at existing fighting type trainers, they all kinda look the same...? They look GOOD but most are the stern archetype lacking shoes and stuff... So I went for more of a summer camp counsellor vibe! Gym teacher! Smiley but also built like a god damn ROCK- I think it worked out well! Casual clothes, but not a design that's overly simple! Fighting type trainers deserve a bit of style too!

MAO MAO THE CATERPILLAR HAS MADE THEIR COCOON-!!

Soon they'll reach moth status and I'll have to say goodbye... 😭

But I'm so glad they survived! We're on course. This is as scheduled. Everything is looking healthy and normal!

Should be about 2 weeks before they hatch...

Then they'll either be instant bird food or successfully find a mate before they die.

I like this one a lot! Used to be a personal fave, before it got dethroned by another soon to come. Second to the first one though. The fairy type gym leader, my dear cousin, was first for a long time. Now I think it's kind of tied with something else...?

Still, this one is one of my favorites. I like grass types, and the vibes here.

I think it's because of the Gloom hat. And the cozy sweater patterns. Good vibes, good vibes...

...Man, I need that Gloom beret to be a thing in real life...Hurry up, pokemon company...
