Silence in the Library | Severus & James

The library, a place of peace and solitude; a place where Severus escapes his thoughts and buries himself into his academics, building a wall of knowledge to hide from reality. Today's area of interest is Fantastic Dangerous Beasts and Where to Find Them.

BASILISK (also known as the King of Serpents) M.O.M. Classification XXXXX

The first recorded Basilisk was bred by Herpo the Foul, a Greek Dark Wizard and Parselmouth, who discovered after much experimentation that a chicken egg hatched beneath a toad would produce a gigantic serpent possessed of extra ordinarily dangerous powers.

The Basilisk is a brilliant green -

Severus' undivided attention was broken by something else brilliantly green, and very dangerous indeed - Lily Evan's eyes. The firey-haired Gryffindor had placed herself, unknowingly, a couple of seats away from Severus. Propping the heavy book onto the table, Severus hid his face and tried to ignore her presence. He found his eyes travelling up the page and over the rim of the book, watching her subconciously twirl her hair and tease the page corners with her perfect hands.

Getting lost in his thoughts, Severus sat in awe - oblivious of anyone else - all that mattered was himself and Lily - in this one moment.
