In your ghost story about Jack the last one it say sara can see him perfectly even though he was meant to be hiding. Does that mean sara has the ability to see ghost?

Does Sara possess a unique ability to see ghosts? Quite possibly!

In this AU, there are several ways that people can see ghosts. Witches like Felicia have an understanding of the veil between life and death that makes it easier for them to see spirits, and mediums like Mothigan are born with the ability to communicate with the dead. You don’t have to possess supernatural power to be able to see ghosts in this universe, though. Having a connection to a place or the spirits there is one thing that could make someone more likely to see certain ghosts. Being open minded and believing in ghosts also increases your chances. Children are generally very open minded and full of belief, and that combined with having a connection to certain places or spirits is why so many children supposedly see the supernatural.

Generally speaking, a ghost who’s capable of concealing themself really shouldn’t be seen by most people, so Mothigan, Jack, and Sara (and eventually the others, too) must unravel the secrets behind Sara’s seeming connection to the ghost world.

Spooky Scary Ghost AU 👻

Jack Rose 🥀

February 14th, 1926 - December 19th, 1949

The people have spoken, and Jack is the first ghost from my ghost AU to get a post! Jack’s story (and Leda’s) is essentially the catalyst for everything that happens in this AU, so posting about him first actually works out quite nicely.

Jack is one of the characters I’ve got a ton of information on, so buckle up for a long one!

In Life

In life, Jack was an actor, singer, dancer, and model - the epitome of the 1940’s movie star, with all of the good and the bad that comes along with it.

Leda was a starlet in the silent movie scene herself, but her career halted when she became pregnant with Jack, and she had to remove herself from the spotlight right at the peak of her fame. She moved to Paris (her hometown) and Jack was born there, but she couldn’t resist the call of the spotlight and ended up moving back to the US a couple of years later.

There had been rumors for a long time that Leda was romantically involved with Cygnus (an architect and watchmaker), but they never confirmed or denied the rumors, and even Cygnus didn’t know whether or not Jack was his son because she wouldn’t tell him. Even so, Cygnus served as something of a father figure to Jack and remained close to him for a very long time.

Even though she wasn’t able to rekindle her career, Leda became the overbearing stage mom we all know and love, and Jack started modeling in clothing advertisements when he was about 8 and eventually started getting small roles in movies until his modeling career really took off in his teenage years.

But Jack wouldn’t be Jack if he weren’t performing, and in 1943, he started performing at the Maneater Cabaret Club (owned by Lilith, who totally doesn’t look 100% the same 80 years into the future by the time Sara’s living in LA, cuz she’d have to be some kind of vampire or something for that), and eventually he started performing at Scarlett’s Palace.

His movie career truly began because famous movie star Icona Shard (because who better than the queen of the Gaga coaches?), who was friends with Scarlett Gold, hooked him up with an audition for her newest movie after seeing Jack perform. Jack played supporting roles in many of Icona’s movies after that, and in other movies, as well.

Leda was, of course, a harsh manager and a horrible mother, so in 1948, Jack dropped her as his manager and distanced himself from her completely. He even changed his name from Jack Swan (which in turn had been changed when he was young from his and Leda’s birth surname of Cygne, in order to better appeal to American audiences) to Jack Rose. Scarlett Gold became his new manager, and he starred in a handful of very successful movies after making the change.

In 1949, he played a supporting role in a musical movie called Locked Out of Heaven (yes, all of the movie star characters are in movies named after the titles of their maps and/or other songs by that artist). The movie was a massive success and Jack became a household name practically overnight. He even got nominated for an Academy Award (the thought of Jack Rose being nominated for an Academy Award is too good - I just had to include it).

In fall of 1949, he filmed another Icona Shard movie, this time in a leading role, called Die With a Smile (get it? Because it’s Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga). He also signed a record deal with Scarlett’s new record label and was ready to start recording it in January 1950.

In December 1949, he found out that he got the role of Prince Siegfried in a musical movie adaptation of Swan Lake. He signed the contact for the movie on December 19th, 1949, and went out with Cygnus for dinner and drinks to celebrate him getting his dream role.

That night, an angry Leda confronted him about dropping her and leaving her with nothing. She was furious to learn about his role in Swan Lake because playing Odette and Odile had always been her dream, one that she never accomplished (and she blamed Jack for ruining her career, meaning she saw it as his fault that she never got to live out that dream). They argued, and in her fury, Leda shot Jack. She tried to give him an ultimatum - return to her, or be killed - but Jack refused to ever again do as she said, and though it hadn’t actually been her plan, a furious Leda shot and killed him.

In Death

Jack became a ghost soon after, and he spent a long time alone, stuck on earth because of the violent and traumatic nature of his death. The land where his house had been was bought out and divided into different buildings, one of which served as an apartment building. He had been haunting the building all by himself for 27 years when the next ghostly inhabitant arrived, and the home slowly started to increase its ghost population over the decades.

In 2002, Cygnus finally bought out the apartment building after trying for many years, and he enlisted the help of Mothigan, a tenant who happened to be a medium, to hold a seance to communicate with Jack. Jack was happy to be able to talk to Cygnus again, but the seance opened up the opportunity for Leda (who had died right after Jack, having killed herself rather than face punishment for the murder) to slip through, as well. Because of Leda’s volatile rage, she was a dangerous spirit that posed a threat to everyone in the building, and Mothigan had to improvise a ritual to keep her spirit at bay. The ritual required the efforts of all of the spirits in the building, but especially Jack, because of his personal connection to Leda.

During the Main Events

By the time of the AU’s main events, Jack is close with all of the other ghosts and with Mothigan. The importance of his spirit in the ritual to keep Leda away means that he can’t cross over to the spirit world anymore, making him a particularly restless spirit. The nature of his death also makes him a very volatile spirit that is capable of poltergeist activity when experiencing strong emotion, meaning that Leda is a topic that can never be discussed around him without disastrous consequences.

Although he’s stuck in the physical world, he’s good at keeping himself from being seen, until one day Sara shows up and can see him perfectly, even though he’s meant to be hidden. Rather than revealing the true nature of the ghost world, Jack and Mothigan panic and tell Sara that Jack is Mothigan’s adopted brother that’s just shy and reclusive. Of course, it doesn’t take too terribly long for Sara to see through the ruse…

Sorry to ask another question but what’s Mothigan’s relationship with Sara, Gray, and the rest of the dynamite crew?

You don’t have to apologize; I’m having a lot of fun answering these! I’ll take any excuse to yap about this AU lol.

Sara and Mothigan are neighbors, and they become close pretty quickly because of all of the crazy ghost happenings that sort of bring them together. They’re a team (along with Jack), trying to figure out all of the secrets of the ghost world and why what’s happening is happening.

Gray doesn’t interact with Mothigan as much as Sara does, but he’s sort of part of the whole mystery, so he’s definitely spent some time with her.

As for the other BTS boys, they don’t really spend much, if any, time with Mothigan. Haze in this AU is big on celebrities, though, so he definitely thinks Mothigan is super cool because she’s done medium work for a lot of famous people. Joy-Ce and T-Bam have heard a lot about her from Haze and now from Sara and Gray, but they aren’t super familiar with her. Maybe they’ll get to know her eventually, though, since she’s definitely a friend of Sara’s and is probably becoming a friend of Gray’s, too.

I’m still in the process of figuring out Iris’ involvement, but I’ve got a little bit about her!

Iris is a private detective and a paranormal investigator! She sometimes visits Mothigan or Felicia to see if they can use their supernatural abilities to help her make headway on a case.

Her biggest case is, of course, tracking down a criminal who may or may not be a famous actress, but said famous actress may or may not also be visiting Mothigan and Felicia to gain insight that can help her plan her various schemes…

Okay, I admittedly don’t have a ton of info on Ruben and Polo in this AU, but I have a little. They’re really just here for fun lol.

Ruben and Polo go to the same college as Sara and probably have a few classes with her. They become friends and hang out sometimes, with some other friends as well (that I haven’t chosen yet, idk who else would be a good college friend for Sara and am open to suggestions).

The two of them have a YouTube channel where they do all sorts of crazy things, including ghost hunting. They go absolutely crazy when they find out that Sara lives in a haunted house and keep begging her to let them go ghost hunting there, even if it’s not for a video, but Sara doesn’t let them because she’s become friends with the ghosts and values their privacy.

They’re really just there for the vibe and to be goofy and silly little guys. I’ve never included them in any au or written them before, so I’m excited to include them even in a small way :D

What is Mothigan doing in your au? Also did Gray, Joy-ce and T-Bam always believe in ghosts?

M O T H I G A N

I absolutely adore Mothigan, so she ofc plays a huge role in this AU (and this is gonna be kind of a long post oops). She’s a mortician who happens to have been born with the incredible ability to channel and speak with the spirits of the dead.

While she was still in college, before she got her degree in mortuary science, she made some extra money by holding seances and quickly made a name for herself because of her ability to produce actual spiritual phenomena (or at least, spiritual phenomena that couldn’t be outright debunked). She was soon approached by a living legend - Cygnus, a renowned architect during the Golden Age of Hollywood, who was 99 by then. He had recently purchased the apartment building because the land on which it was built was of personal significance to him, and he was hoping that she could reach out to the other side and help him speak with a particular spirit.

In exchange for a hefty sum of money, Mothigan held a seance with Cygnus. While she successfully made contact with the spirit Cygnus wanted to speak with, they also opened the portal for another spirit, a vengeful one, to come through. Mothigan had to act quickly to put together a ritual to keep the vengeful spirit out. Feeling bad for what he’d unleashed, Cygnus helped her make a long term plan to keep the spirit away and as thanks for her troubles he promised to leave the apartment building to her after his death.

With the help of Felicia, a witch, Mothigan was able to perfect the spell keeping the evil spirit away, and she came to know multiple other spirits haunting the house, including the one that Cygnus originally tasked her with reaching out to.

She has a few regular clients, one of whom is former Los Angeles mayor Si’ha Nova, who visits weekly to speak with her son, whose spirit is inexplicably tethered to the house despite the fact that he neither lived nor died there like the house’s other spirits.

Mothigan has all of the ghost stuff taken care of and under control until a new tenant moves in and unintentionally throws the house’s spiritual world into chaos…

As for Gray, Haze, Joy-Ce, and T-Bam’s beliefs on ghosts, I think they’re all at least open to the idea. Gray has had a few odd occurrences during his life that he thinks may have been supernatural in nature, but even then he’s not 100% sold on the paranormal. Haze swears up and down he saw a ghost once, but everyone is pretty sure it was just a shadow.

Can I ask about the role of Si'Ha Nova in Your Ghost AU...? If it's fine...

I'm kinda curious about it, more since she is a Non Ghost Character and Wanderlust is a Ghost 🤔

Yesss Si’ha my beloved!!!

The main events of the AU take place in 2022 (just because the numbers and years line up best that way), when Si’ha is 94. She’s retired, of course, by that point, but she was a very popular and successful politician during the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s, who’s also well known for her philanthropy and activism.

She started out in city council in 1957 and served three consecutive terms. In 1973, she was elected mayor of Los Angeles and served two terms, after which she continued to be active in politics.

She married Traveler in 1950, and Wanderlust was born in 1951. Wanderlust was killed in a car accident in 1976 when he was 25, during Si’ha’s first term as mayor.

The death of their son was, of course, extremely hard on Si’ha and Traveler, but in the early 2000’s they stumbled across a certain medium-witch duo who were able to help them communicate with their son’s spirit. After Traveler died in 2019, Si’ha continues to visit the medium every week or so to commune with her son and, because his spirit doesn’t have a strong connection to the location and is therefore harder to reach, sometimes her husband.

And because I made her and took this screenshot in, like, October, here’s a 60’s inspired Si’ha in Sim form!
