I tag Silksong along with Hollow Knight, but I will never post Silksong spoilers. I will be using a different blog to document progress on a potential Pharloon map in the future, and it will be attached to this post when the time comes. On the other hand, there will be plenty of spoilers for Hollow Knight proper, seeing as I'm building everything about it, so please be mindful of that.
Introduction
Welcome to the kingdom of Hallownest! This is a major work in progress and is a passion project while I (he/him, 19) still juggle my real world responsibilities, so please be patient. I promise it will be worth it. This post will be edited as the relevant information changes.
Version - I use a laptop and Java Edition Minecraft with WorldEdit on version 1.18.1. (If this project is still a work in progress through future updates and includes any mods to play, it will be adjusted accordingly.)
$ - When the map is finally ready, it will be free to download and explore. I may consider providing options to fund me while the project is in progress, but it will not be obligatory, only if you want to support my work.

1) I use stone as a PLACEHOLDER whenever I am terraforming or building a structure. The final products will NOT all be entirely stone.
2) I am still going to build the map, but most of the early focus will be on the resource pack to make sure it's compatible with my vision!
3) Everything you see here is liable to be redrawn or rebuilt before the finished version is released if I find it necessary.

I'm still a bit pressed about this, alas.
IN LIGHT OF THE NEWS
Perhaps pharloom-in-minecraft will have to be put to use much sooner than anticipated...!
I'm very excited about this. I want to kick things with the Hallownest project into high gear, but I'll need to get a lot of work done and set aside more of my time to do so.
I have a dilemma in regards to tagging that I would appreciate opinions on. Now that the Silksong tag will be in more use in the indeterminately near future, I'm not sure if it would be appropriate for me to cross tag my updates anymore, since this project is entirely Hallownest focused. It would still give me more publicity and reach, yes, but it feels inappropriate. I don't know.
Would it bother any of you if I continued to tag Silksong? Does it even really matter that much and I'm just overthinking it? What do you think?

The happy resolution!
Hello, everyone. Very important update here:
I had a brief termination scare over the weekend that has just gotten resolved.
HOWEVER. If such a thing happens again, please look to @hallownest-in-minecraft-2 as a backup blog for all of my affairs. I am going to continue bringing it up to date for archival purposes, and will be adding it to my pinned as an additional resource.
Thank you to those who helped promote the backup blog and helped me get my posts back. I appreciate it greatly. It would probably be a good idea to pass this post around as well, since it's the official declaration that 2 is my backup.

My previous blog has been terminated for unknown reasons. I am in the process of attempting to recover it, but I do not know how long that will be or if it will even work. For now, I will be making a home base on THIS BLOG. Please pardon the unfinished state of it, I will be customizing it more at a later time.
While I'm going to attempt to find all of my previous posts and reblog them to here, I would appreciate any and all help with collecting them if possible. I know several of you have reblogged any of my posts at some point, so feel free to send your reblogs to me so that I can restore them here.
And, of course, please be sure to inform anyone else that you knew was following the project that it has been moved here for now.

Sorry if already answered this, but are you doing any block textures? Really curious about that! Also, this is such an amazing project, I've thinking a lot about it lately specially the map. Amazing work!
No worries, I appreciate the question!
Yes, I do intend to do block textures. I want to adapt as much as I am capable of to make as complete a resource pack as possible for general use and especially for my map.
I've been steadily working on building the best arrangement of blocks to showcase and ensure that every block works cohesively, but there are so many blocks these days it's hard to know if I'm missing one here or there in my set-up! So I need a better plan moving forward for organization of the blocks.
There's also a small challenge to figuring out what the color and texture languages of the blocks should be, and how to balance between the vanilla color and texture languages (which have a lot of variety and distinct features) with the color language of Hollow Knight (which is often very dark, utilizing a TON of blues and round or plated shapes everywhere and does not have quite as much variety, as I realized while making the paintings). It should be a fun challenge, though.
I think I might focus on decoration blocks first to get a better idea of what to do for the building blocks, but before that I might focus on items more. We'll just have to see. I'll need to pop open the 'Craft again to think about it.
I also still need to work on the tunnels for the map! This is especially true for areas other than Crystal Peak and the Howling Cliffs. I want it to be as spacious as necessary but still make a good 3D environment. Much to do, much to do...

At some point—not any time soon, but at some point—I might ask some folks for help with testing the resource pack and map, so if you're ever interested in that, keep those eyes peeled.
This is because of some potential issues I noted a while back for each, and issues that I might encounter frequently at least in the case of the resource pack. That is, having proper visibility and distinction between items (like my concern with the nails—they may have all different shapes, but most of them are colored the same, which might make it confusing, and I want to avoid that if I can. I'll be redrawing them anyway, but it's an example.)
An issue with the map that I'd need help reviewing would be how it works with shaders, as I'm using the new invisible light blocks to set the mood and I'm not able to test out how they appear with various shaders. This wouldn't be an issue for people who don't/can't have shaders, but many people have expressed interest in using the map with shaders, so I want to make sure it's a good experience all around (even if I have to make two copies of the map just for the lighting...)! There may also be issues with mobs or parkour but that's much further down the line (and I've been testing it myself for the latter part) so it's fine for now.
If anyone knows of somewhere where I can find anything related to testing the new invisible light blocks with shaders, that would be very helpful in the meantime, as I'm having trouble looking them up on my own.

It will be available on planetminecraft and other, similar pack and map sharing sites when it is ready!
It is not ready yet, and I will make it very clear whenever it is ready. Ideally I'm going to give it away when the map is ready, too, as the map is the whole reason I started this and I'm very proud of how the map is going to turn out as well, and I deeply appreciate the support that the map has been getting alongside the resource pack—buuuut if the map takes too long to finish after the resource pack has been finished, then I'll likely upload the pack first.
With all the work I've been doing on the pack, expect some updates on the status of the map soon, for a change of pace!

Hi! I really appreciate your interest in the project, thank you for your support and thank you for the question!
Unfortunately there are a few things keeping me from making the resource pack, and by extension the minecraft map, accessible to Bedrock versions of Minecraft (which includes the Switch).
The key reason being I'm just not familiar enough with Bedrock edition and the Marketplace to upload anything there.
Of course, I could still learn how to upload it, but then there's the potential issue of legality and copyright—I do not own Hollow Knight, I am not a member of Team Cherry, so to upload a map and resource pack to the Marketplace would be to exercise a level of authority that I do not have, regardless of whether or not I profit from it. (However, if I learned how, and if I found out that I was able and allowed to upload all of it to the Marketplace, I would do it for free.)

Fixed up a few more charm sprites for the status effects! In case it's not clear, from top to bottom they're supposed to be Lifeblood Core, Sprintmaster, Hiveblood, Grimmchild, and Unbreakable Heart. There are several more status effects in the game, and so I have several more charms to sprite-ify and make up, but we're chipping away at it bit by bit. Small Update
I'm at a point now with the tunneling in Crystal Peak where I can mess around with the Crystal/Enraged Guardian arenas, which should be fun. I really do love building arenas.
And, because of the exceptional feedback on my first resource pack post, I realized it's probably a good idea to get the resource pack done Before getting too far with the building, that way it can really be cohesive and I won't have to make two different versions. I also updated the EXP bar/horse bar/boss bar since it was quick and easy, so you can see the screenshots and additional rambling about ideas for the pack below!

The horse bar is essentially identical to this, except with blue lifeblood colors and darker notches.

There are a few other bars in the "bars" file, but I'm not sure what they're for. I'll have to investigate them more later.

As for the rest of the pack I'm definitely going to change the textures of a majority of the blocks to match the vibes of Hallownest more, like the cobbled blocks will have those spiral-y shell shapes instead of just the regular lumps, stuff like that. However I'm not sure what to do about the overall palette for it all, I want the color language to mmmmostly be the same as it is in vanilla, but I'm definitely tweaking deepslate to match the overall blue tones of Hollow Knight more. We'll just have to see. I haven't been in a spectacular mood for drawing and editing due to various stressors but I know that I ought to get on top of it soon so that this doesn't stagnate the project.
Perhaps I'll work on sketches of the custom charms I'll be using for status effects soon?

Damn, don't you think giving Life Ender at the very beginning is op as heck?
(You're awesome, I love what you did with the sprites and all the planning and sketches, you're doing a great job!!)
Life Ender can only be obtained by those clever enough to craft it, a standard which many sorry sods could never meet!
(Thank you so much! I know that in the grand scheme of things there's been very little progress but it still means a lot to me that even my little WIPs are getting a lot of attention and support. I want to make sure the final product is perfect!)

"Above is the UI as it appears normally. I haven't touched the EXP bar yet, but I'm thinking of making it more soul-like. I've changed the hearts into masks and hunger bar into soul containers. Half a heart appears with a broken mask, and half hunger appears with a half-full container.

Poison hearts, of course, appear as infected masks.

The Wither effect takes on the Voidheart charm as the new symbol for the status effect and Withered hearts appear as void-touched masks. I plan to use charms for all of the status effects, and if no charm exists that fits the status effect, I will make a new charm based on what does fit.

Bonus hearts take the form of Lifeblood masks.

And, because bonus hearts are Lifeblood masks, I thought it only appropriate that Golden Apples and Enchanted Golden Apples were Lifeseeds.

The Hunger status effect changes the soul containers into infection containers.

Hardcore Mode hearts are turned into Steel Soul masks and similarly become infected or void-touched with the appropriate status effects.

One of the first things I did was change swords to nails, but looking back now I'm wondering if I should do more to distinguish them from each other, color-wise.

Diamond Sword: Coiled Nail
Netherite Sword: Pure Nail

And, because it was very easy to do, I've also changed the splash text into various iconic, emotional, or otherwise mysterious quotes from within the game. This is the one I was unfortunately saddled with for the screenshot.
Again I must note that these are only WIPs. All of this is liable to be redone and it will be much more complete, with total retextures of every block and item. I'm not sure what to do about mobs, yet, though. I think I might need to do two versions of the pack depending on how the map pans out—one for exclusive map use and one for practical use in regular gameplay. Essentially the same, but with differences that suit one or the other more if I can't find the right balance between the two. I suppose we'll just have to see."

Famous last words about those x-ray screenshots... Though I do still hope to get them out in general—I've always thought seeing caves in spectator mode like that was very cool.

Progress with Crystal Peak
I have decided to quit dawdling and have been proceeding on carving out the actual tunnels for the Peak rather than continuing with the glass ant colony pre-plan, since most of the work there was done. It is going fairly well, except for a little bit of difficulty lining up rooms on the same level. I should note that the map won't be all side-scroller-y like the map in game is, it'll still be structurally similar of course but there will be plenty of twists and turns that the 2d medium of the game did not have. And because of this, I believe you will, in fact, be able to see Hallownest's Crown from Dirtmouth, and vice versa. Crystal Peak is going to be wrapping around the valley in a crescent kind of way, with the Howling Cliffs wrapping around the other side. Terraforming it might be miserable, but I imagine that once I'm done with the initial tunnels, it'll be a nice change of pace. Once I get to a point where I can get good x-ray screenshots I'll share them.

Miscellaneous statue WIPs that are liable to be changed structurally, as they were some of the first things I built. The Dreamer Memorial is too large and stumpy despite being the best way I figured out how to include accurate Dreamer masks at the time, and the Hollow Knight Memorial Fountain is already very large but perhaps not quite grand and sleek enough. The fact of the matter is, though, that it will all depend on how much space I have to work with. The Shade Beast is almost perfect, however. The body shape and arms in particular, though I could stand to exaggerate the mask shape more to suit the spikier parts.
