other people have already pointed out a lot of this but i have a linguistics degree i need to use for something and if there’s one thing i love it’s overanalysing so here’s a break down of where the wires got so crossed in suletta and miorine’s last conversation

what miorine meant: “i feel bad that you’re always doing so much for me so i’ve found a way to reduce your workload”

what suletta heard: “i only asked you for help bc no one else was available but now i’ve found other people to do it who are more reliable than you”

what suletta meant: “i thought that you asking me for help meant that you trusted and cared about me”

what miorine heard: “yeah this was a big responsibility that put a lot of pressure on me”

what suletta meant: “i rejected him bc i take our engagement seriously and you’re the only one i have feelings for”

what miorine heard: “i turned him down even tho i like him bc i feel obligated to you and think you’d be mad if i went on a date with someone else”

what miorine meant: “i don’t want you to give up on what you want for my sake so feel free to hang out with whoever you like”
