Widow Fighter Design
Goth widow woman. Character design study I drew, for a fictional fighting game, in a project by a fun guy, fightgame maniac and great artist called Cheezopath ( at https://www.patreon.com/cheezopath, https://fgc.network/cheezopath, https://www.instagram.com/cheezopath/ and https://ko-fi.com/cheezopath and http://cheezopath.com). The goth that definitely should be in the project is nothing like this, but I needed to train my goth design skills. This is still not really “goth“ at all, to be honest. It’s been hard to come up with a goth fighter that doesn’t just look like a goth who’s a fighter, or a fighter who’s a goth, if that makes sense. That character’s design has actually been put on the backburner due to that and other nuances!
Those red and black pants are almost like a tight dress, and perhaps would look more normal that way, but I think keeping them as pants adds character. Might post some more of my character art for the project here eventually, and possibly environment art too? We’ll see…

Heyyy I'mmmmmm opening up commissions ! Ahh !

I wanted to draw a custom comm announcement and the sketch amuses me so much as-is that I shouldn't work it up any more. Anyway, as the sheet says, I am opening up 12 slots of Pay What You Want (75 USD Mininum) commissions. As of my writing this, I have 11 slots left.
Most of my work formats/examples are best seen on Twitter because I've used that most over the years for networking, but you can also check out this google docs comm menu (also has my work email, which is potentially important.) I also have an artstation that I'm working on uploading pieces to, but the uploader sucks and it's taking a super long time,,,,, I've also included a few of my format instructionals + examples below. You could also check the #chuuurlsart tag although I don't think I have much up iirc.

The point has finally been reached, it’s time to post this stern, tired man in all his unbepixelamalated glory. The shirt and jacket look about as rough as in the pixelised version, but check out that face, both smoother and wrinklier somehow.
As you can also see, the original has less of a pinkish purple feel in the shadows and details. That was actually done using some of the color dithering tools in GIMP, which I tried using to better control the colors before switching them to the more limited indexed color palettes. As for actually drawing the guy in Krita, it’s just regular built-in brushes, with a lot of focus on giving a pale grey sheen to some of the more reflective parts, like the edges of the face. It helps to have a light grey background for that too, which is also just pleasant to draw on top of!
Some fun with Krita’s mirror tool, followed by some basic pixelating and color reduction in Gimp for some pixelart look. Maybe I’ll post the unpixelated version at some point too.

Art for a Let’s Play of Indigo Prophecy
Banner and thumbnail art, for a Let’s Play of Indigo Prophecy: https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3871678&userid=0&perpage=40&pagenumber=1
Made with Krita and Blender. Specifically the rooms and props are 3D, modelled and lit in Blender. Additional lighting drawn over in Krita, as well as extra things like the water in the toilet, and of course the characters.
There is so much stuff in Indigo Prophecy / Fahrenheit I could’ve added to these, I was really spoiled for choice. Also the banner art is one of the rare times where I don’t have any line art.

Do you feel like you prepare better for, and deal better with, cons and such, than when you started, and if so how long did it take you to develop a "system"?
I’m not entirely sure what system I have going, it might be subconscious at this point hah!!
But Yes, You eventually get a nack for it!!
Generally the week or two before a show I’m taking inventory on pins, finishing new art, printing stuff and setting up a mock table to make sure I’ve got everything in place and set in my head. I try to pace my week properly. But to be honest, these days I’m always mentally preparing for the next event.
- if you don’t have the space, Setting up a 3D digital diorama to plan things out is a good plan too.
If you don’t have a helper, I’d make sure that you have everything ordered and ready to go at least a couple months in advance before your event. Just so that you have everything there and ready to go. Rushing and stress is bad.
The amount of shows I do consistently would not be possible without help from my sibling helping me w restocks when it comes to pins & stickers. ( i pay them well for their time) 💖(if I had to restock every time AND manage the booth solo. I think I’d collapse from exhaustion.) They don’t like to attend the shows however (just doesn’t interest them)
When I’m at events I’m still managing the table alone and essentially have been since my 4th year. (I’ve been going since 2010 which is hard for me to actualize haha) up til then I tabled with friends.
I’d say it took a good 6 years of trial and error to figure out my table layout, work out kinks, figure out different layouts (depending on provided table sizes) & to refine my display to get things looking as nice as they are. Merch creation & brand recognition is another story entirely.
I still don’t travel for events and I generally stay local to Vancouver to keep my costs manageable but am hoping to start traveling by 2020!!! ( supporting me on Patreon will help me get there quicker👏)
I’ve certainly gotten better at dealing with customers and managing my anxiety over time!! (Though I am always a bit nervous)
My best advice is to get to know the people around you, Both other artists and customers alike. 💖
