I don't what black tea you drank, but a good black tea that is well prepared can taste absolutely divine (I swear, I'm not Celine)! I remember having an earl grey tea with lavender, and it was so damn good, I miss it T_T Oh, and some tea companies sell Jasmine green tea/earl grey tea and it's great, really recommend it!

But brands like Lipton are... just awful lol
