I think Pokéstar Studios are one of in not the best side content in Pokemon games, it has great potential which should be expanded on.

It's logical puzzles formatted as a regular Pokemon battles with a different win condition - it makes you think about your Pokemon's moves, types, items and abilities beyond simple "Fire beats Grass".

For example the film series Fog of Terror demonstrates using setup moves like Reflect or Calm Mind, Time-Game Traveler shows the synergy between Rain and Thunder, Mecha-Cop shows you synergies between Sturdy and Counter, or between Endure and Flail.

If this part was expanded upon it's a perfect way how to teach players to use more advanced strategies by doing all the preparation for them and just let them figure out how to use it. By presenting it as a puzzle to solve, rather than a tutorial, makes players feel clever about figuring out the puzzle and it might make them consider use that strategy in practice.

And then there are the Strage Endings, for which you usually need your own pokemon. To reach the Strane Ending need to deviate from the script in one of the following ways, usually whichever is hardest in given scenario:

get your own pokemon KOed - when your oponend can't attack

knock out your opponent - when they are level 99 and your pokemon is level 40

stall until the time runs out without either side getting KOed - when your oponent has Toxic Orb

None if these are impossible, I've done them all, but they do require some thought. And you get rewarded with silly stories (like falling in love with evil queen or becoming eldritch being on path to conquering Earth.), rare items and sparkling animation if you do it with your own part member. (Which can be a bit annoying when you want to be done with the battle quickly.)

It could make a fun speed run category Pokemon Black/White 2 with Star Pokemon.

And of course I can't forget this piece of dialog:

So, my university has a course on Large Language Models is using memes for promotion, here is a rough recreation of the one that struck me the most.

I love this.

Now, don't get me wrong, LLMs do have some powerfull computational tools at their disposal, the article "Attention Is All You Need" demonstrates that pretty well.

But that doesn't mean we shouldn't be critical towards it. When one of my classmates had a presentation on the topic, she spoke as if she was trying to sell it to me, and I was quietly dying on the inside. As a students, we should be critical towards the technology based on it's inner working, which can tell us what it can do, and what it cannot do.

For example, LLM (as the name Large Language Model suggest) do language, trying to make it do anything else - math logic, planning, reasoning, is a recepie for a disaster - use at your own demise.

But they aren't exactly useless either - they could have their use. For example could could be used to generate queries for more specialized software, like SAT solvers, planners or Wolfram and similar.

the best part about having done almost 3 years of martial arts (holy fuck that's a long time) is that I can estimate how much a judo throw in any action movie will hurt from a range of "just get up it's fine lol" to "holy shit you are not getting up any time soon"

always blows my mind as a european when people talk about states like “yeah theres nothing in ohio/montana/wyoming/etc” because i look at a map like but. but theyre so big. every state could qualify as its own country what do you mean theres nothing there. and then i ask people from those states and theyre like “yeah theres nothing here” what do you mean theres nothing there!!!
