I just adore how vulnerable John is throughout the entirety of Hellblazer. I think that’s why he has such a devoted amount of readers- we get to see him sob into his pillow, kiss his friends platonically, have panic attacks, fall in love and get his heart broken, and see his triumphs and defeats through his eyes. It’s what makes the comic so special I think bc John’s humanity is so tangible.

If Johanna becomes more popular than John I will cry. Especially since Johanna's backstory is adapted from John's. And, I don't mean Joanna badly, but she's a product of copyright issues. I would be really sorry if the original Constantine story didn't become more widely known and the adapted Joanna story became more popular.

In addition, the modern Johanna looks much more like the old Johanna, strong and independent and neat, but she uses John Constantine's backstory. I doubt if an accident like Newcastle would cause her nightmares every night, especially in the TV adaptation, where Astra inexplicably kills herself.

Modern Johanna feels much more mentally sound than John Constantine.

Oh, yeah, yeah, I know that. Desmond in Legends of Tomorrow is based on Oliver. That's why I misremembered Oliver as the character in Legends of Tomorrow. Thank you for reminding me.🥰

I was just thinking, in the episode 3 of #SandmanonNetflix ,Rachel talked about the names of Constantine's friends, and her ex-girl/boyfriends. We all know that Chas and Renee and Kit Ryan are from Vertigo's Hellblazer, but where the Sara and Oliver from?

Legends of Tomorrow maybe? Because John Constantine happens to have a relationship with Sarah Lance and Oliver.I don't know. I'm just guessing.

OUCH. On another note, i think it’s really interesting that John tells the people he cares about that “he got in over his head” rather than the truth. Maybe its more in line with how he wants to be remembered, or he just doesn’t want their pity. Cancer’s a senseless tragedy, but John getting in over his head? An inevitability.
