guys I was looking for Rex merch on amazon and I stumbled across this listing for an Atom Eve and Rex Splode show which is more than likely gonna be the adaptation of the little mini series they had together. Since I saw this I searched up season 3 to maybe see if there was a listing for that too but I couldn’t find one which brings me to my theory:

Are we getting an Eve and Rex miniseries before s3? And will it be announced like super soon?

Because correct me if I’m wrong but the Eve special was released in between s1 and s2 so using that same logic, this series will be like our little treat in between seasons. It would also make sense for them to adapt these comics now because if you’ve read the comics, season 3 is going to be crazy for these two. The reason I think this series is going to be announced super soon is because of the listing. In my experience with books on amazon at least, once the listing is there that means it’s probably going to be either announced or released anytime soon.

I really hope my prediction is right because the Eve and Rex comics were one of my favorite parts to read since I got to see so much content for my two favorite characters!!

Marina’s origin story below the cut‼️

Shortly before Marina was born, her parents had found a parrot on the side of the road. It was in very bad condition so they had taken it into their house and did their best to rehabilitate it with the limited materials they had (they didn’t have much money and lived in one of the many favelas in Brazil). The parrot was thankfully nursed back to health and in the time that it lived with Marina’s parents, it had grown close to her mother (who was obviously pregnant and ready to give birth at any moment). When they were about to release it back into the wild, the bird spoke to her parents. As crazy as it was in the moment, the bird said that he was grateful for their selflessness in taking care of him and that in return he granted them a blessing that was to enter the world soon. Marina’s parents were left very confused since a parrot just talked to them in fluent Portuguese- but also because of the “blessing” he said he granted them. One day later, Marina’s mother was shocked to see her daughter was half-bird. It took a while for Marina’s parents to adjust and understand this “blessing”, but they ended up embracing Marina in the long run.

Growing up, Marina liked to sing and dance a lot with her parents a lot since they couldn’t afford any entertainment. She was never allowed to leave her house unless her parents swaddled her up in a blanket and made her close my eyes the whole time (which wasn’t very practical). Marina’s parents were worried that if she went outside, someone would want to report her to authorities or kidnap her. Marina found out about her powers while singing with her parents once and unintentionally holding the note that made them “tick”. From that point on her parents had told her not to hit that note whenever she sang.

On their small radio during carnival season, Marina liked listening to any broadcasts that played and would gush to her parents about how she wanted to go see a parade. One year (she’s 9) her parents mustered enough money for the three of them to travel up to Rio de Janeiro for Carnival to listen to a parade for one night and go home after (Marina wasn’t allowed to watch because they didn’t want anyone spotting her). During the parade, her parents placed her down for a second so they could dance and she wandered off to go get her own view of the show since she was tired of just listening. Marina found herself walking through an alleyway where she got knocked out by someone. That day was the last day she saw her parents for the rest of her life.

When Marina woke up, she was trapped in a room. This room had a mattress in the middle of it and nothing else. There was a glass window in the front of it where people could peer in and watch her (think of a zoo exhibit, the room is essentially her habitat). After a couple of hours of trying to escape, Marina gave up. A hidden door opened and someone had entered. Upon seeing the stranger, She backed up and tried singing the note to make him “tick”, but failing miserably because her throat was so dry. The stranger began talking to Marina in a language she didn’t understand but we as the viewer know that the man was her kidnapper. He initially intended on selling her to someone else, but he decided to keep her with him as his little collectors item, his pretty bird. Marina wasn’t in Brazil anymore- she had been trafficked all the way to America.

Things remained this way for almost 10 years, in that time Marina picked up on english dialect and knew enough to hold a conversation. Every day, she practiced singing and flying, hoping that one day she’d be able to escape. Her “owner” had to start wearing earplugs around her enclosure because there were many close calls where Marina had him under her control. One day a group of heroes broke into this man’s house (he was caught in other crimes) and they had discovered Marina trapped. They had set her free and when some of her “owner’s” bodyguards had came in to attack them, Marina had used her powers to stop them. This hero team (no, it’s not the Guardians- butttt we are almost to that part just bare with me 😭👍) had noticed her powers and brought Marina to the GDA after stopping her “owner”. This team thought it would be best if she had went there since she was unstable from being secluded for so many years and so they can give her the best path on how to go about living with her powers. Doctors nursed her back to health mentally (somewhat) + physically (she was severely malnourished, they had to cut a lot of her hair off since it hadn’t been brushed in so long, and she had developed ptsd from her past living conditions). Not only this, but Marina’s abilities were studied and she was given training to learn how to use them in the most effective way possible. When they thought she was ready, she had gotten to meet Cecil. In that meeting he explained to her that she had the potential to do great things and help out the country with her abilities. She was offered a spot on the Guardians of the Globe to which she took, even though part of her wanted to go back to Brazil. A couple days later she was escorted to the GotG headquarters, where she had met the group of people that she would soon consider to be her new family.
