I think it's very ironic that Andrew so fervently wants to be nothing like his parents but he resembles them in so many ways and the main difference between them? That Renee and Douglas, despite being terrible people, had a happy, truly loving relationship and accepted everything about each other - the exact kind as what Andrew wishes he could have with Ashley.

i think i'm hearted of the monsterous mother archetype/trope. not all of them i fully kin but i feel a connection to all of them. and i couldn't find a renee vrchat avatar but i really was liking a lot of the horror mother looking ones. I think there's just something delicious about defiling something so culturally sacrosanct as the mother-child bond.
