Holy shit. When was the last time I posted on this account? It was pre-pandemic, wasn't it? Anybody miss me? Does anyone still follow me? Is that even how this works anymore?

HalloweenFest Day 2
This post is another day late. Gimme a break, I was busy. I'll make up for it with a double feature this weekend.
Anyway, I thought I'd follow up yesterday's post by watching Waxwork II: *I forget its subtitle*, the 1991 sequel to the 1988 film I covered yesterday. Director Anthony Hickox and lead Zack Galligan return, but despite the film picking up exactly where the first film left off, the absolutely adorable Deborah Foreman was replaced by an actress whom I don't recognize and... I'm a be real with you, chief. Much like last night, I've done very little research and I'm going into this blind. In fact, I'm typing this as I watch the film.
First impressions: like most early 90's sequels to 80's sci-fi/horror/fantasy films, this feels radically different than the first. But, unlike that other Zack Galligan sequel, I don't think this will be good.
But, hey, what the fuck do I know?
Waxwork II: "Insert Subtitle Here" is available for free on TubiTV. So feel free to metaphorically join me tonight. And if you do, let me know what you think.

Hey, Everybody.
I know it's been a long time. I've been busy. But, I'm back. And, seeing as today is the first day of Halloween (it'll be day 2 by the time this is posted. My bad.) I thought I'd bring something from my og tumblr back from the dead. Pun intended. Obviously.
And speaking of obviously, I'm obviously talking about: HashbrownNick's Halloween Fest 2019!
If this is your first time, HashbrownNick's Halloween Fest is my month-long celebration of all things Halloween... but mostly it's just me taking about movies and junk. I'm a nerd, and horror films are one of my wheel houses. And this year, I digging deep into the genre, exploring films I've never seen but kind of always wanted to.
Which brings me to tonight's movie. Released in 1988 with a box office return of just over $800,000.00 on a $3,000,000.00 budget, Waxwork was a movie I knew of, if only from all the childhood hours I spent watching the "previews channel" (I can't remember its name, but that's what we called the free channel that showed trailers for whatever movies were available on pay-per-view at the time), but had never actually seen. Starring a post-Gremlins (but pre-Gremlins 2) Zack Galligan and directed by Anthony Hickox, who happened to have directed way more films that I recognize than I expected, considering his most notable work aside from the Waxwork films was the first sequel to Warlock... yeah, how many of you out there are familiar with the Warlock franchise? Show of hands...
Told you I'm a nerd. Anyway, this is a film about... I actually have no idea. I'ma be real with you, chief. I did very little research on this film. I just hit play, though, and I can tell you it also stars David Warner in a very Willy Wonka-esque get up and the hot chick from the lumberjack episode of Tales from the Crypt that used to drive me crazy when I was a kid... the hot chick, not the episode.
Anyway, feel free to join me. Figuratively, that is. I believe you can find this for free on vudu or tubi, I can't remember which. If you do, let me know what you think.
