Mariah: learning how to step into her own power and not to hold herself to a higher standard, that she is enough and that she is powerful in her own right, readjusts her relationship with root and familial connections.

Natasia: a peek in on her and Faye's relationship, the complexity of her relatiinship with her son, the yearning and heartbreak can be translated to that of Sel's for Bree as they are Kingsmages not bout to their rightful charge.

fuck the hate breenick was so good and strong in EVERY book!

Legendborn had the playful flirty banter, the bonding over similar grief and loss, the sense of responsibility over each other’s safety and the angst from mutual guilt of bringing the other into that life, the desire to be with each other despite what others say and despite the risk, the comfort they get from the other, the way loving each other comes easy, the trust!!!, and Bree’s ultimate realization that she loves Nick!

Bloodmarked has the separation angst, worried and wondering if the other is safe, one of Bree’s main objectives being to save Nick, the Bloodwalks together where Nick reassures her that he doesn’t care about what the Order says about them, that the truth about the lines doesn’t change how he feels for her, her wanting to save him but him wanting to keep her safe and telling her not to come after him!!!, the angst of possible betrayal when he walks away from her and Sel, that even with that possibility Bree confessing to Sel that she still needs to see Nick again in the Bloodwalk because he makes her feel safe, and that Bloodwalk washing away all worries and doubt, the short lived reunion towards the end, and ending with the line of Nick reaching out to her as she leaves with the Shadow King being the last thing she sees.

And THEN Oathbound. Bree missing Nick, even when she forgets him, but the one feeling attached to her memories of the boy she can’t remember being longing. She’s still LONGING for him. And Nick being loud and outspoken against the Order on Bree’s behalf, standing up for her and speaking up for her and calling out their bigotry even when she’s not there. How he really doesn’t play around when it comes to her. Their fight when they meet again but can’t see who they’re fighting, but they’re moving like they’re dancing. Bree not knowing him but still feeling the pull to him and they fall back into their playful banter. The angst of him holding back from her because she doesn’t remember him, Bree still trusting Nick even though she doesn’t remember him, the pining and longing and unwavering trust from both sides. Falling back into each other. His confession to her. His confessions at PENUMBRA. He lost his faith in the world but he still has faith in her.

And they’re only gonna get better and stronger in lb4 😌
