I’ve been working on a 19 days fic which would be the first piece of writing I have published in 6? years. I used to write but the want escaped me. I still can’t figure out what I want this story to be. I desperately have been looking for Zhanyi works and there is honestly little that I can find. Almost none for the four of them. Whatever this ends up being I’m sure it will have some Zhan Zheng Xi x Jian Yi for sure. I will share a little tidbit though (obviously subject to change).
“He felt his ears turning red, and he wasn't sure if it was embarrassment or rage or a combination of the two. He couldn't think with Xi's hands grabbing him and his face being too close. His head started to swarm with all the memories of them that he had thrown a sheet over and let the dust collect on top of. Now Xi had run in and thrown the sheets off, sending dust particles everywhere. Tian was in his mind when he blinked, on his words when he tried to speak, behind him when he ran away from him, from Xi, from all of it.”

I’ve been playing around with procreate... I also have been attempting to learn how to merge my art style with the artist’s when doing fanart. Normally I think I shade more than this but I was focused on anatomy and simply learning the software.

okay so I want to talk about this interaction
Tian has just essentially pushed Mo to the edge by forcing him into the bath and we see Mo still being frustrated and on his way to leave. And obviously He Tian has been a horny bastard all night... So when Tian grabs Mo, Mo assumes it’s going to be more horny nonsense. He thinks it’s crazy that Tian is still trying to hit on him. But then Tian talks about his immense loneliness and fear of abandonment. I think this is why Mo doesn’t try to push him away. He Tian is finally trying to explain to Mo what he means to him. All of these antics are really just a test to try and see if Mo will leave him in the end.

I want to make it clear that no and stop still mean it when used in any culture. I meant that social norms are different in Western vs. Eastern culture and some Asians tend to be less forward and what might be perceived as shy to Westerners. This is just a difference in behavior. I was remarking on the usage of language and how Mo could essentially use a safe word if he truly wanted Tian to stop. Similar to how in some relationships, couples use a safe word because their partner has a tendency to say no when they don’t mean it. The no or stop is more of a reflex. HOWEVER! No still means no. That was not the point of this post. Okay cool bye.
I don’t want to be giving the benefit of doubt to He Tian, but I read the bath scene a bit differently. Mo hit Tian. Which isn’t abnormal, but it seemed to be a substansial punch. He Tian didn’t hit him back. In fact he never hits him back. Yes he forced Mo into the tub, but he also never physically hurt him as it is implied that Li did. I saw a post from someone (if you know it pls tag it) discussing how Mo made a decision to go to He Tian’s place after having the option to let him go.
What the OP discussed was Mo fully knowing who Tian is and what sort of shit he does and yet he still decided to go back into his life because he obviously cares for him. Sure Mo tries to wrestle away, but he was the one who came to Tian. We also never see Mo tell him to stop. He says get off and tries to wrestle him away but in some ways that fits with their dynamic. Mo is not the starter in the duo. He is still unsure with how he feels and (at the moment) would never initiate something. Eastern cultures also have a different understanding of consent from the West and treat words differently. Mo telling Tian to get off and even punching him doesn’t necessarily mean he isn’t consenting. Something that always made me uncomfortable when reading BL as someone from the West was when someone would stay stop and the partner didn’t. But I don’t think it means stop in the way Westerners interpret it. Mo is fully capable of voicing how he feels in a way that Tian will understand. I didn’t see this as any different from how he normally tells Tian to leave him alone because once he did we know he didn’t mean it.
Once he is in the bath, he says he’ll do it himself. I think Li left a big mark on Mo that he still is struggling to recover from. I mean think about it. Mo would have never taken Tian into the bathroom, undressed himself, and gotten into the tub. I also have no doubt that if Mo really wanted to he could get away. Because at the end of the day, I don’t think Tian would lay a finger on him. He still has no idea what a healthy relationship looks like, but I also don’t think this is the worst thing to ever happen in a BL, or that it’s something that they can’t recover from.
