I took a deep breath and listened to the old brag of my heart. I am, I am, I am.
Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar
In the deepening spring of May, I had no choice but to recognize the trembling of my heart.

"the portrait show seems to have no faces in it at all, just paint
you suddenly wonder why in the world anyone ever did them
I look at you
and I would rather look at you than all the portraits in the world."

I am lonely, yet not everybody will do. I don't know why, some people fill the gaps and others emphasize my loneliness.
Tumblr media
I want so obviously, so desperately to be loved, and to be capable of love.
Tumblr media
But even so, every now and then I would feel a violent stab of loneliness.
Anaïs Nin/Little Women/Sylvia Plath, The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath/Haruki Murakami, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle/Holly Warburton, A Face in the Crowd

Text
"I love you. Infinitely and inexpressibly. I’ve woken up in the middle of the night and here I am writing this. My love, my happiness."
"My delightful, my love, my life, I don’t understand anything: how can you not be with me? I’m so infinitely used to you that I now feel myself lost and empty: without you, my soul."
"My sweetheart, my love, my love, my love-do you know what–all the happiness of the world, the riches, power and adventures, all the promises of religions, all the enchantment of nature and even human fame are not worth your two letters."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"How can I explain to you, my happiness, my golden, wonderful happiness how much I am all yours."
"I love you, my sun, my life, I love your eyes – closed – all the little tails of your thoughts, your stretchy vowels, your whole soul from head to heels."
"You wrote so well about yourself, my lovely: I saw you."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"My darling, today I love you so sweetly, so joyfully – you don’t know how…I dreamt of you last night – as if I was playing the piano and you were turning the pages for me…"
"But if you do not love me, tell me frankly. Sincerity above all! All the same:You are my happiness."
"I’m more than thinking about you – I’m living about you, my love, my happiness…"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Today I can’t write about anything except my longing for you."
"My tenderness, my happiness, what words can I write for you? How strange that although my life’s work is moving a pen over paper, I don’t know how to tell you how I love, how I desire you. Such agitation – and such divine peace: melting clouds immersed in sunshine – mounds of happiness...my inexplicable love."
- Letters to Véra, Vladimir Nabokov//Paintings - Ron Hicks

A few years ago I listened to the song "Only girl" by Ari Weiss. I loved the lines and music. The way he wrote about his love stuck with me. I wanted to listen to more of his songs, but I found that he has only ever released this one song. I tried to find him on instagram and in his photos people had commented about his demise. I tried searching a bit more and came to know that he and his family had passed away in a plane crash.
This was a song that he wrote for his gf. The whole world felt so small to me at the moment, because a song written years before by an artist who passed away, has found me and has become one of my favorites.
It all feels so significant and precious. The art that we leave behind is important. After years someone will find it and you will be remembered.

When Victor Hugo said "what a grand thing, to be loved! What a grander thing still, to love!", and "The supreme happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved." When Tolstoy said "Seize the moments of happiness, love and be loved! That is the only reality in the world, all else is folly."

Vladimir Nabokov on his Letters to Vera:
Tumblr media
"Kisses, my love, from your eyebrows down to your knees and back".
"My love, I seal you with six kisses: eyes, mouth … and the others I shan’t tell you."
"Kisses, my love, deep ones, to the point of fainting".
Tumblr media
"Kisses, my sweet, I kiss all possible and impossible little things – and then, very carefully – my Life!"
"Kisses, on your eyes – and further, along the black tape. Love you".
"… I kiss you – but won’t say where, there are no words for that".
