I can’t get “Mom, it’s not you. It never was.“ out of my head. Luz’s attempts to impress Amity and befriend her, her little comments about teens being the worst (thinking of Once Upon a Swap specifically), like. Luz clearly wants some place where she can be accepted by more than just her mom. She worries about disappointing her and being a burden on her for not being able to make friends and be “normal” like her peers, but she also does love magic and adventure. I mean Separate Tides makes SO much sense, because that’s just an extension of her fears for towards Camila. She isn’t necessarily worried that her mom actually wants her to change, but that she’s hurting her by being “weird”. But instead of “fixing things”, she’s lying and betraying her. And her mom wants to help her make friends, wants to help her have a “Reality Check”, but isn’t trying to make her lose her creativity and love of fantasy. She just wanted to help her realize when she was being reckless or unrealistic.
The Boiling Isles ended up giving Luz a reality check in it’s own ways, and did help her grow as a person. She made friends and learned that this magical place isn’t all fun and games... but she still loves it for what it is. She wouldn’t want to give up the place and people she’s grown to love, just as she’d never want to be trapped there away from her mom. It was never Camila who pushed her away. Camila is the only reason she’d even want to go home.
“Us weirdoes have to stick together.” hits different now.
#messy thoughts since I can't organize rn but Luuuz#amity has a fear of rejection cuz her parents but like#luz worries about her mom because her friggin peers#she wants to be herself but also doesn't want to be a 'burden' and MY HEART#toh#toh spoilers#luz noceda#jdtao mini#thinking about how luz thought her biggest fear would be eda because she just wants to make her proud like her mom

this was absolutely worth pausing to read. you go, Polly Shulman
[Transcript: "I was in line when (…) walked up to me, and in this mystical voice she goes 'You will let me cut in front of you…’ Gravesfield resident Teresa Palmer explained. “And I go, ‘No I won’t.’ That’s when things took a turn.
Not everyone disapproved, however. “I liked the funny magician,” said Polly Shulman, 6. “I want her to come to my birthday. I want her to make everyone go crazy.” Initial reports indicate that the woman was wearing a large gray wig and sharpened fangs.]
#kids really love eda lmao#good for teresa tho don't take a line cutter's nonsense#toh#toh spoilers#eda clawthorne

I love Amity’s new necklace, not only because it matches her more but it reminds me of this

I think it’s supposed to remind us of this scene, the Moon in the background. And that makes me happy :)

At least, they faced both their Grom fears. Talk about character growth and development.

If I had a nickel for every time Michaela Dietz voiced a character that shapeshifted into the main protagonists’ form… I’d have 2

I think willow might be the perfect person for luz to talk to right now
She knows what it's like to have loving parents that want what's best for her, but what that is and what makes her happy don't line up. Remember, her dads wanted her to do Abominations.
