RACKS     upon racks of clothes are before him and his persona. the more deep he goes into the rabbit hole the more ren thinks its time to get some disguises. the detective was on his tail since june - hell, it could be even before that! - and he doesn’t want recognition to ruin his plans. if he wants to gather some more information than this is the easiest solution.

“ … ” a hum leaves his lips as was forced to pass over some piece of clothing he’d otherwise wear on the daily basis. he peaks at arsene with a questioning gaze. “ hmmm, do you have any suggestions? ”

     “ You’re on the right track. ” A grin rested on his lips as he watched the other. Advice was— for the most part— only given when  ASKED.  Of course, there also came a slight nudge when it was needed—— he wouldn’t be worth his name if he let him fail ! But quiet observance was simply his way of seeing how Ren grew in his role.

          “ Try thinking less about looking different and focus more on  WHO  you want to be. If you walk, talk, and act the same then it’s still just  YOU  in a costume. Anyone would be able to see right through it. Perhaps something simple for an easy start ? What type of person would you  EXPECT  to find where you’re going ? ”

     “ I don’t suppose you’d believe me if I said I  TRIPPED  ? ” He attempted a nervous chuckle though it was almost immediately cut short. Barely biting back a groan, Arsène clutched his side as if it would do anything to ease the pain that flared back up. Though he guessed as much before, it seemed  IMPOSSIBLE  to hide the injury after all. ( Not that the bloodstained clothes weren’t already telling ). Blasted be the coward that couldn’t fight him face-to-face.

          “ Someone took a cheap shot at me is all but they didn’t hit anything important. Should be alright soon as I can get patched up  PROPERLY.  ” For the moment, the male had done what he could to stop the bleeding and moved carefully as to not make it  WORSE.  He tried for a laugh once more and this time managed to squeeze out something small though ever lighthearted. “ Maybe I should go back and thank them for their bad aim once I am. ”

There were no pressing matters and everything had been rather calm for a while. Presently, he was merely grabbing himself a cup of tea before heading back upstairs to continue his work. Though it was true he’d been pulling a couple late nights— later than  USUAL  that is— but that was normal for him. Surely it couldn’t have been so noticeable.           And just like that the matter was laughed off. For as open and accepting as the thief was with just about anyone kind, he never offered much insight into  HIMSELF.  From separate plans to his own thoughts and emotions there were many things with the tendency to be shared in  SCRAPS.  It went without saying that any bubbling fatigue would also go without mention. “ Thank you for asking, Miss Dez, but there’s nothing to be concerned about. Though I must ask, if you don’t mind, what could have  YOU  up at this late hour ? ”

Whatever would make you think something happened ? ” Laughing off what was an  OBVIOUS  state of disarray, Arsène took a moment to readjust his clothes and pretended to pat them free of dust.      “ Is that to be some trick question, mon amour ? ” A chuckle trickled past his lips as they turned upwards just slightly into an adoring grin. A hand,  UNGLOVED  for once as he’d been casually lounging after a bit of work, slipped into mauve locks that were also let loose for a rarity. Bit by bit the soft strands slipped through his fingers as he gazed into the calculative eyes before him. His own amber gaze all the while left  NO  ROOM  to doubt the extent of his affections. “ Am I in love with you yet ? Have I done so little to let the question go unanswered for so long ?           Just before the last of the strands could fall free, he carefully held on and brought them to a featherlight touch at his lips. “ I must’ve said it a million times since that day and I’ll keep saying it as long as you wish. I love you  SO  MUCH  there won’t ever be words to express it. ” He moved in close, bringing his free hand to just barely brush the fingertips to Herlock’s cheek.      While it makes perfect sense that Arsène has been speaking with an English accent the whole time he’s been in London it very much kills me to think about it lmao

          LIKE ?? I’ve already established that he’s been  CONCEALING  his natural French accent and despite what the game might have us believe, he’s definitely not walking around throwing his name everywhere. For instance, there’s the early scene when they go to the boardwalk and casino and he uses an  ALIAS.  While London may know Lupin is somewhere out there and the gang later receive the Queen’s pardon, he’s still not going to announce his identity outright. That’d just be ridiculous ! So that leaves us with... English accent Arsène.

                Continuing to keep a grin on his face, the detective disregarded the statement which he had no knowledge of, he waved a hand. Of course he was to be learning French, but anything his lover spouted was bound to be far too advanced for a beginner ( the blasted vernacular locals had ! ). “ I cannot say I would care much for another country’s criminal — if I did I would be a much much more busy man. However during your stay in London there is a multitude of grizzly things you could have done ! ” He smiled as if this were a completely average conversation for one to be having over tea — perhaps he had a skewed view of normalcy in the first place however. 

               “ Let us see… ” The detective sat down his teacup gently on it’s saucer to properly think. “ Now, I of course am not encouraging these crimes nor do I think you would commit SOME of these offenses, but if I had to note some things I have given my attention to in the past; threatening to steal or murder something or one in the royal family, the murder of young children, embezzlement, the theft of what may put a client of mine in a sticky situation, the theft of some precious jewels — however I cannot stress enough that I must be REQUESTED for such cases in the first place. ” 

                Reaching a gloved hand out to pick up the teacup once more after finishing his thoughts he frowned. “ We truly have been talking for far too long — though I would adore  dawling on and on about your inabilities to catch my glance earlier I simply cannot ignore the state of this tea. Should I brew a new batch.. ? ” And with that, ( for now ) the detective’s thoughts were occupied with other thoughts… 

     Nose scrunched at the detective’s suggestions before he gave a short scoff. “ You know more than anyone I wouldn’t stoop to such  LOWLIFE  crimes. ” Threats of murder ? Out of the question ! And a coward’s trick to start. Though it was true he did ask, it remained almost baffling that Herlock even brought up the matter. Undoubtedly they might have been cases he’d settled in the past and the thought left nothing but a  SOUR  taste to his tongue. Although the theft of precious jewels was something that could be associated with his name. An  ENTICING  idea but one that his personal code forbade if done out of selfish desire.

          He looked to the tea at hand and saw that it had indeed gone  COLD  during their conversation. Not that this made him any less happy that the other had merely found an excuse to drop the matter. Well... Suppose there could be more  INTERESTING  things that wouldn’t provide opportunity for insult. Or, at the least, one would hope.

     “ Don’t trouble yourself with it. Rather, don’t make so much for the both of us. I think I’m quite fine with what I’ve had. ”  NORMALLY  Arsène would offer to brew it himself, but his partner always had a word or two to say on the matter. ( His taste in tea was fine ! ) “ That aside, I’d dare to say it doesn’t sound as if you’ve taken a case in a while. I can’t image you’re taking well to the  BOREDOM  that comes with it. ”
