npd culture is clinging to the kant philosophy that the only thing that matters is a good will (deliberate action) so even if your thoughts are filled with the most morally wrong desires to hurt and use others, your actions are what really matters. in fact, your self control is admirable.

my philosophy prof was talking about being impressed by ppl who have morally wrong desires (one of which, under Kant, is to use others as a mere means) but who resist it bc they know it’s wrong and it just felt so validating. like it’s one of the first times i didn’t feel like the worst person alive
