Some late stage planning towards the final comic, including thumbnails of panels to come, and an updated sketch of the fairground layout, with a line that indicates the path of the two main characters during the comic.

Some fairground stall designs. There are two designs for the hook-a-duck stand, because that particular game is important to the plot. I haven’t definitively decided which is the best, and the final design may end up being a combination of the two, taking the best elements of both designs

Here are some short bios for the other two featured characters in the comic, ironing out some important contextual details.

A little bio for Heather! I’m also going to write up a little exercise in common Leicester dialect. I wrote that she comes from Leicester, since this is where I’m from, and I felt that the dialogue would come more naturally to me.

Initial graphite sketch design of the fairground layout. This is a bit too busy, and the second design will be much more simplified, as an average fair would really be laid out.

A mood board of fairground stalls, including games and food stalls. The most important of these games in terms of my comic is the hook-a-duck stall.

A mood board of fairground rides that would’ve been common in the 80′s. The fairground will be the venue for the assassination, where the mascot works, so this research will help me design the fairground.

Designs of the client who hires Heather and layout designs of a room in her home.

Layout designs of Heather’s rooms, and quick looks at all the tacky clutter taking up space in Heather’s house. I’m going to have another go at the sofa to make the pattern uglier, but the rest should stay fairly the same

An eyesore of a mood board all about the interior design of the 80′s. Clashing colours, ugly patterns, crimes against sofas, and so on. This will help when I’m designing Heather’s home.

A quick mood board on landline phones from the 80′s. Heather is more likely to own one of these than a mobile phone.

A quick bit of research on hand-held phones from the 80′s. Heather probably won’t have one of these, but I thought it was worth looking at.

A mood board of Argos catalogue pages from the 80′s, featuring items that could be laying around Heather’s home or could be in her pockets.

A series of designs for the duck mascot. The ones coloured in are the final designs for how the mascot will look. This character is a fairground mascot, and the intended target of the client that hires Heather.

A mood board of cartoon ducks that were famous during the 80′s, of course quite a few of them are Disney ducks, but they still count. I’ve included this in my research because the target that Heather will be attempting to assassinate will be a man in a mascot suit, and that mascot will be a duck.
