My husband just discovered some of his "cucumbers" are actually jelly melons. We grew this last year and it was an extremely fast grower that gave not one single care about Texas heat. Our cucumber arch is about to be taken over, but I bet the shade will be amazing.

We got hit by some crazy rain and wind, a lot of broken branches and stuff pushed down. Having to trim a lot more than I would like but these guys were built to survive so I know they will be ok 😅 ( still hurts )

Looks like we got some figs! We're going to explore making fig jelly and canned whole figs. This is the first year we are actually working on utilizing everything from our garden that we harvest with canning instead of just gorging out on figs or cucumbers for days like weirdos 😅

The purple cone flower is 3 years old( apparently I couldn't bother to do 1+1+1 in my head, but I edited it). The first year it was kinda sad looking, the second year it became quite thick with leaves and even had 2 flowers, this year it's a beast. Native perennial plants often spend their first year working on a good root system that will help them during droughts so you just have to be patient ( which is hard cause I'm not) but you will be rewarded with magnificence

Guess who's expecting liatris!!! So I definitely planted these like 2 years ago as very very tiny plants ( like questionably tiny) and within a few months they were gone, which actually wasn't a surprise due to their tiny fragile size. This year as stuff started coming up I was trying to keep back the grass with hand trimming and my husband noticed some of the grass didn't look like the rest ( bless him ) so I left it. These are those "grasses". Did I trim them last year by accident, maybe? But this year I have definitely been giving things a chance at least until I can identify them. I don't remember the type of liatris only that it was native so hopefully different types have easily identifiable traits 😅
