God, this was the worst scenario since he had been bitten. He never told about his curse to anyone; leaving his profession was bad enough, telling someone was unbelievable. He'd at least be branded insane.

Heath chewed on his lower lip as he was trying to come up with a believable explanation. But nothing came to mind other than the truth. He looked like he deflated; his expression fell, his shoulders dropped. He could've said he was working on a surprise for the other, but that'd just be another lie. No, he needed to explain. He owed the other this much.

"I'm..." God, it just didn't want to come out of his mouth. The word felt sour and he hadn't even uttered it. Heath looked away, embarrassed, ashamed. "I'm a werewolf." His whisper met shocked silence. He didn't look back up. Here is where it all ends, he thought bitterly. "I disappear every full moon because I'm... not really... nice... when I'm not, well, me."

“I don’t want any shit excuse from you—you’re the one who cheated on me!” Salem snapped at the other, you could hear the pain in his voice.

Why did he allow himself to fall for someone who was so damaging? His heart wouldn’t let him go and all he could do was scream at the other. Salem knew they were toxic, but there was this sense of good deep within and the halfling just wanted to have that back again, but had he come to his end?

Salem shoved the other and looked at them with pain-filled eyes.

“You fuckin’ asshole! Why?!” He wanted to kick the other out, didn’t want to see their face again but that would mean goodbye forever and that killed Salem inside. He never thought he’d be the one to get cheated on and confirm it too.

“You kept saying you loved me!”

"I'm sorry", Heath almost automatically replied, although he had absolutely no idea what was going on...

...other than going missing every month for two-three days. And it happened for a good reason, too. Heath couldn't tell the truth to Salem about what he was; his dark secret he kept hidden from everybody, especially Salem. Now it seemed the truth couldn't be hidden anymore, no matter how dark and twisted it was. It broke his heart even before losing Salem to it, because he knew that it was irreversible, it wouldn't be forgotten, and he'd be avoided like the plague.

Werewolves couldn't have nice things.

"I can... I can explain", he added softly, biting his lower lip. "Please, hear me out? It's not what you think..."

"That'd be great", Heath rolled his shoulders back, looking around once again. He couldn't help but feel watched; the woods were eerily quiet, but that must've been because they had made a lot of noise when they crashed. The animals must've been frightened away, but it wouldn't take them long to come back. Hopefully they'd be the peaceful kind. Heath noticed that the lone wolf disappeared. He hummed. "I'll try and find dry branches so we can start a fire. I'll also check for food; we have some in the shuttle but it'd be best if we started to stock up, who knows what the weather will be like." He reached in his messenger bag and got out his datapad. Tapping a few times, he frowned. "It looks like we won't have storms for a while." He zoomed back from the planet and that was when he noticed: there were two moons. Heath gave no visible signs of the dread that filled him. "Let's get to work, shall we?" He asked, smiling a wolfish smile at Liv.

Heath furrowed his brows as he looked over at the creature.

"That's not a dog", he whispered, his eyes scanning their surroundings. Where their shuttle crashed there was nothing but cold, snowy wilderness, and the lone animal was staring at them, shocked. "That's a wolf." Heath searched for the others. "Her pack is probably nearby. Hopefully they're not too hungry..."

Heath chuckled quietly at the other's reply that she wanted to pet the wolf. For some reason it was a really entertaining thought for him. Heath glanced back at their shuttle with a grimace, then turned back around to look for shelter. The woods wouldn't be a good place without equipment. Besides, if a rescue team should come, they'd need to be close to their shuttle.

"We need to remain near it", he decided, "and if a blizzard comes, it'll shelter us better than anything we build. If we fix the door, it's also good against animals. If there're wolves, we need to assume there're more predators. I don't really want to be the next meal." Thankfully, he wasn't cold at all, but he had to make sure she'd stay warm. His blood always ran hotter than humans', he wouldn't suffer much from this, but she wasn't so lucky. "Let us go back to the shuttle. We need to send signals as soon as possible. We could make a campfire nearby, and our datapad will help us identify edible plants. We have snow, so we'll have water, too. We'll be fine."
