** SOME EXPLICIT LANGUAGE WARNING ** (just a little, as a treat-o ;) )
The boys think they've discovered a treasure map when they find some junk at a swap meet, sending Lenny and Squiggy on a quest to find it somewhere out in the Mojave Desert. Stopping off at Cowboy Bills on the way, they accidentally blurt their plans out to Frank and Carmine, causing the two to argue that if Pop's going to give supplies at a discount and Carmine gave them the money to go to the swap meet, that they should be in on the take. So all four "manly men" head out into the sand and heat, getting lost and running out of supplies in quick fashion. Hallucinating, bonding, and finding a bottle of booze (along with a cactus boner), will they survive?!
On pod, we talk the return to form with David and Michael's antics in the episode, how the storyline (and writer of the episode) feel more akin to Season 6/Season 7 material, and whether this one is the best of the season. Gasp!
Also if you want something spicier, try listening to the "Night After Night: After Dark" episode of the podcast, referenced in this one, which is us covering the pr0n parody!

** EXPLICIT LANGUAGE WARNING **
Squiggy's recently-divorced sister Squendolyn comes to visit her brother in California, as she's in need of time to recuperate after splitting from her old man, Arnie. She's a retail purchaser at a department store as well as a classy lady. Looking for new love, she soon lays eyes on Carmine and immediately knows she wants him. Compounding the conflict, Squiggy decides to ditch his sister and offers to pay Carmine a couple hundred bucks to take care of Squendolyn and show her a good time during her stay in Burbank. Carmine proceeds to act like a jerk about this, even as Laverne tries to be helpful to Squendolyn and give her tips on seducing The Big Ragoo. Finally, with the poor girl's heart broken at a crappy Hollywood party full of crappy people, Carmine realizes what a heel he's been. Can our erstwhile dancing boxer make friends with Squendolyn - and learn a thing or two about himself along the way?
On pod, we discuss the writer of the episode, whose work goes as far back as season 2, and the various modeling/soap stars that show up in the Hollywood party scene. Plus, our disappointments with S8. Again.
Listen to it at the usual haunts, y'all!

*** EXPLICIT LANGUAGE WARNING ***
Put on your best shoes because it's time to try out the latest dance cuttin' rugs and rockin' the dance floor. Carmine has a new single with Squiggy's record label, and the two worm their way into the hearts of Bobby Bitz (guest star Jay Leno), who hosts the show American Dance Party. When the song becomes a sensation, Squiggy jumps on the merchandising bandwagon and Carmine gets to rockin' and rollin' on TV. But when a busybody politician and sponsor for the show believes he's found satanic pinko messages in "Do the Carmine," he intervenes to put a stop to things. Will the show go on? Meanwhile, Laverne gets involved in a protest to stop a garbage dump from being put in down her street, learning the truth about political activism in the process. Maybe.
On pod, we talk the Satanic Panic being referenced, Squiggy's business prowess, the loose threads of the episode, and whether we'd just rather watch Hairspray again.

08.01: The Mummy's Bride
Tumblr media
The beginning of the end starts here! Shirley Feeney abruptly announces her engagement to one Walter Meeney - a man we've never met before this day, but whom Shirley has been dating for months. Wedding plans dead-end in calamity when Shirley learns Walter's about to ship out -- and that the groom has a terrible full-body rash which forces Shirley to hold her dream wedding in a ward at the local VA hospital.
We talk about the very complicated history of the show's eighth season, lament the death of Shirley and Carmine's relationship, and wonder where things go from here:

08.02: Window on Main Street
Tumblr media
New Podcast time! In what would prove to be Cindy Williams' final episode (and Shirley Feeney's final time ) the girls are offered a big promotion at Bardwells - if they manage to stay in a display window showing off the Apatment of The Future for forty-eight hours.
This causes Laverne's heretofore unmentioned claustrophobia to kick in. With Rhonda's help, the girls employ a hypnotherapist, who ends up accidentally implanting a suggestion in the girls' brains that whenever they hear a bell, they should act like chickens. Naturally, Bardwells' home of the future is just laden with these bells, leaving the girls acting like poultry right in public in downtown LA. Can they save their jobs? Will Laverne finally make contact with the handsome photographer she keeps flirting with? Will Shirley's strange symptoms point toward something shocking? Will Bonomania sell a showing out?!
On-pod, we talk about the episode's old-fashioned feeling, praise Larry Breeding, and talk about the guest stars.

07.22: Perfidy in Blue
Tumblr media
New Pod! We wrap up Season 7 with a big, splashy, self-knowing soap opera fantasy.
After Shirley accidentally loses Laverne's favorite navy blue purse, Shirley dithers over what will happen when Laverne finds out. She falls asleep listening to a soap opera and thus dreams her way into Twin Kitchens. In her dreams, she becomes "Charlene Bobbleneck," married to Sven (Squiggy), heir to a large pancake house fortune created by Fritz (Frank), who is busy carrying on with his French maid Rhoda (Rhonda). Charlene and Sven pretend that they're happily married in public, but secretly loathe each other - Charlene is carrying on an affair with their chauffer, Leonardo (Lenny), while Sven carries on with his secretary, Louanne De La Douitt (Laverne). While Charlene and Leonardo plan to run away via faking Charlene's death, Louanne and Sven plan to poison Charlene so they can be rid of her. Who will survive? Will the real Laverne forgive Shirley? Or will they overdose on dosa-coma?
On-pod, we're joined by Tracy Ramone and have fun taking apart this jewel of an episode.

07.21: Crime Isn't Pretty
Tumblr media
In one of the weirdest episodes of Laverne and Shirley ever, the girls worry that they're being robbed after Shirley loses their house keys at DisneyLand. They leave for a Palm Springs vacation and ask Frank and Carmine to sit the house and search for clues. Frank and Carmine learn a little about the girls along the way - and their traps rustle up Squiggy and Rhonda, both of whom claim innocence in the burglary.
It turns out the reason for the girls' things have been stolen. Then boom - Gun PSA outta nowhere!
We have a lot of fun with this very weird one.

07.20: Lightning Man
Tumblr media
New Podcast time! Carmine survives being struck by lightning - then, while in a daze, foils an attempted robbery at Cowboy Bills'. The resulting publicity sees him being dubbed as a superhero named Lightning Man. Smelling good publicity when he sees it, Squiggy signs Carmine to a contract at Squignowski and sets about milling up some publicity for him. While Carmine's fame grows, so does the pressure to keep him in the public eye. When Squiggy arranges for him to take part in a dangerous stunt, will Frank be able to talk him down- and will he be able to save Squiggy when he too goes out on a wire?
On-Pod, we marvel at David L. Lander, talk about the interesting weirdness of this episode, and wonder how they got a Kent State joke past the censors in the early 1980s.
