Hinamizawa Forever!

I had fun with last week's drawing, but it made me realize how rusty I've gotten while focusing on other projects.

This week I wanted to get back into it with something fun. And since cartoons is the most fun to draw, I decided to draw the Hinamizawa kids together in their wonderful village where nothing ever goes wrong. 💛

It's probably clear by looking at it, but I did spend more than an hour working on this one.

As of yesterday I have completed my 2023 New Years resolution of playing one point-and-click adventure game every month. I feel like I learned a lot! But more than anything, I learned that I had a Sam and Max-shaped hole in my heart that was waiting to be filled. Genuinely some of the funniest games I've ever played.

Yes I really made my own plush. No Sam isn't finished yet.

Alright I've been watching y'all leave tags like this on my post for almost a year now, so since I recently replayed the game I'm gonna go ahead and give y'all a little tip (with the mildest of spoiler warnings):

There are two places in the game where you can get St. Walpurga's Oil for free. One is from the golden maiden on Monday night:

The other one you can get on Tuesday evening:

Yes they're both in the same place, at the laundry well east of town. How convenient!

As someone who's played the game through multiple times, I actually think it's more engaging if you struggle a bit on the first playthrough. Spending each day doing odd jobs for people who hate you just to scrape together enough pennies to feed yourself until tomorrow really puts you in Elise's shoes! Especially since her desire for wealth is her stated motivation at the outset.

That said, the resource sink of sanity management is really frustrating if you want to see everything and haven't mastered enough of the minigames to make decent money yet. So I hope this helps!
