❝  if you don’t know who promise is, you might be living under a rock. you could say they’re the queens of nugudom, having rocketed themselves into fame while only being a four year old group. but as of a few months ago, both the group and their company are under fire for what seems that their main vocalist ASTELLA had suddenly been kicked out of the group for unknown reasons, which have now come into light of what actually happened. ❞

`✦ˑ ִֶ 𓂃⊹ ⠀⠀⠀ WHO IS PROMISE AND ASTELLA  ?!

❝  for  those  kpop  fans  that  haven’t  heard  about  the  PROMISE or ASTELLA,  the  group debuted back in 2017, as a five-membered girl bgroup with the members astella, jihyun, kyungmi, jade, and lily. they debuted under an unknown company called BUBBLE ENTERTAINMENT, who we will be getting to later. they debuted with a classic among kpop stans who like small groups, tell me,  but didn’t get traction until the release of peek-a-boo, which got them a lot of fame with international fans, basically they were on top of the world, looking at their success from a point of view that a group from a small company were getting their flowers and the fame they deserved, so it came to everyone’s surprise, when during the last leg of chill kill promotions, their company put out a statement saying that heejin ( astella ) would be on hiatus due to ‘ mental health ‘ which we find out later on that the reason was not only because of mental health. ❞

`✦ˑ ִֶ 𓂃⊹ ⠀⠀⠀ THE LAWSUIT  ! 

❝ last year, during october, astella finally broke her silence with a post on instagram, it was a picture of all five of the girls, stating “hello to my darling 신자 ( faithfuls , promise’s fandom name ) i know that my departure from the group was abrupt, but it was the best thing that i could do for me. i love the girls and you all dearly, and i will never forget them or you all. I want nothing more than to see promise continue to succeed and i am rooting for my girls :). i have endured bullying and harassment, not from my members, but from the staff, and when i tried bringing it up to the higher ups my pleas and calls for help were ignored. i talked about it to my family, and they told me the best thing that i could do was to leave the group and the company as a whole. i hope you continue to support me if i do decide to redebut. please do not send any hurtful messages to my members, they are very kind and have treated me amazing since our debut. but yeah, heejin <3.” after she posted that, articles were made left and right asking the company to come forward and speak about the speculated bullying that astella claimed to be happening. ❞

❝ next, in December, astella officially filed a lawsuit against bubble entertainment and her ex- manager, who’s name is not mentioned in the lawsuit. astella claimed that her ex-manager was the root of all the bullying, she said “our manager would purposefully exclude and ignore me from anything that had to do with the group, she would say rude and hurtful things to me and when confronted, she would gaslight me, making me feel like i was in the wrong, but not to the other members. I don’t know what i did to be treated this way, but I know that i only treated her with kindness and respect, seeing that she’s my senior and i was always taught to respect my seniors”. she also said that when her group leader, kyungmi, also brought up the mistreatment astella was facing to the higher ups, they did nothing, and instead continued to allow her to act this way with astella, and this is the kicker, apparently the manager did end up getting fired, but that was only after astella l eft. ❞

`✦ˑ ִֶ 𓂃⊹ ⠀⠀⠀ ABOUT BUBBLE ENTERTAINMENT   ! 

❝ bubble entertainment kickstarted their company in 2014, fairly new to the company and only ever had trainees. the only group they’ve debuted is Promise, who later changed their name to Paradise in 2022, after member Astella left the group, and 2021 was the last year we saw Astella promote with promise. it was said that before debuting Promise, there was a whole different lineup, that only had Astella and Kyungmi in it, seeing as their positions in the group were main and lead singers. ❞

❝ also, side note, it has been rumored that all the members of Paradise will be terminating their contracts with Bubble, saying that they have come to a negotiation with the girls, letting them keep their group name, but will no longer be in the company. ❞

❝ now that the video is over, i wish nothing but prosperity and happiness for both Astella and Paradise, now that Astella is now in Starship, and Paradise are rumored to be leaving Bubble Entertainment, they can finally be somewhere where they are respected. ❞

❝  pretty much every third gen kpop fan has heard of 4TUNE. one of the biggest boy groups not only of their generation but of kpop overall, its hard to meet a kpop fan who doesn’t know them. with their success however also came a hard road of mistreatment and abuse from their company LIGHT UP ENTERTAINMENT. while harmonies and fans with a heart are thankful that 4TUNE’s contract was recently bought by GLASSHOUSE INC, it begs the question of what is going to happen to the other groups under the company. will their contracts be bought as well? will light up go bankrupt? will we ever hear from them again?  ❞

𓍢 ✷ꜜ ࣪ . THE HISTORY OF LIGHT UP ENT !

❝  LIGHT UP ENTERTAINMENT was established in november 4th, 2012 by ceo HAN JINWOO. a man who had been fresh out of high school, he didn’t want to have to get a real job, and being the spoiled brat that he is convinced his very wealthy parents to buy him a company for him to run. LIGHT UP would come together very sloppily and unprofessionally, however, with JINWOO’s charms he managed to create an image of this “perfect” company for trainees to be under. he wanted perfect idols, idols who’d listen to him no matter what, and he managed to almost get his way with that. the company would manage three groups under it before the start of its downfall in early 2024 due to allegations of abuse, sexual assault, among many other things would come to light.  ❞

𓍢 ✷ꜜ ࣪ . 4TUNE !

❝  LIGHT UP ENTERTAINMENT’s most seuccessful group, as well as its first group, 4THNE would put the company on the map. it would unfortunately be due to 4TUNE’s success that the members of IN BLOOM and ASTERIX would audition for the company, with no idea of the things that would go on behind closed doors. the boys were mistreated severely due to JINWOO pushing the idea that success was pain and that hurting constantly was the price of fame. it would be due to the members of 4TUNE speaking out and member KAIZ specifically suing the company for abuse that LIGHT UP’s problems would come to light.  ❞

𓍢 ✷ꜜ ࣪ . IN BLOOM !

❝  IN BLOOM is a south korean girl group under LIGHT UP ENTERTAINMENT. the second group to come out of LIGHT UP, the girls would originally be known for their cutesy/girl crush concept. they would make their debut on may 3rd, 2018 with the youngest member being only fourteen years old and the oldest seventeen. the ages of the girls alone would spark controversy amongst netizens that was carefully covered up by the company. however, when the oldest member would turn eighteen is when netizens would especially raise their concern for the safety of the group.

when IN BLOOM’s oldest member MIYEON would turn eighteen in 2019, the group’s concept would drastically change from its once cutesy concept to one that was mature, way too mature for any of the members, especially the maknae. with all this criticism and extra focus on the group, fans started to notice bruises on the girls. hashtags would begin flooding the internet only to be taken down quickly allegedly because LIGHT UP threatened legal action.

IN BLOOM would continue to comeback despite the concern around the girls safety. however, they would have their last comeback in may of 2023, and have not been heard since. fans are concerned about the girls safety as 4TUNE has brought up a lot of concerning things about the safety of LIGHT UP. fans can only wonder what the girls are going through if they are trapped.  ❞

𓍢 ✷ꜜ ࣪ . ASTERIX !

❝  ASTERIX is the second boy group under LIGHT UP ENTERTAINMENT and the last one that we know of at the moment ( surely with 4TUNE leaving, the company is scrambling to find more trainees to debut ). this group is also the group that never really hid how badly they were being treated, because it was so normalized. ASTERIX is a nine member boy group that formed through survival show STAR BOY. they woupd make their debut on february 12th, 2022, fans speculate that LIGHT UP knew that 4TUNE would be exposing them soon and created the survival show to trap trainees under the company in case they tried to leave. ASTERIX is LIGHT UP’s insurance in a sense.

because the mistreatment that happens during survival shows, especially minors has become so normalized, no one really spoke up or necessarily saw a problem with how the ASTERIX boys as well as the other trainees were treated theoughout the show. food was would be offered only as a reward to the winning team, losing teams had to sleep all in the gymnasium rather than the dorms. trainees would be sporting bruises throughout performances and added scenes but it was brushed over as just boys “roughhousing.”

the mistreatment of the boys did not only take place on the show, but is actually still going on to this day. on december 5th, 2023, ASTERIX would have their fourth comeback of the year, following four mini albums and a single the year before. and before the news of 4TUNE leaving LIGHT UP was announced, it was revealed that ASTERIX was having yet another comeback on march 30th. their members are all born between 2003 and 2004 all barely adults. the boys are currently being extremely overworked, and because of their contract, fans are unsure if they even have to option to leave LIGHT UP.   ❞

❝  it is safe to say that fans are extremely concerned about the wellbeing and safety of the remaining groups and trainees under LIGHT UP ENTERTAINMENT following 4TUNE terminating their contracts with the company. fans have been spreading the hashtags #SAVEINBLOOM and #SAVEASTERIX. whether you are a harmony, poppy, or cosmo, please understand that we are genuinely concerned about the remaining 4TUNE groups. please help us make a big enough reaction to actually incite change.  ❞

❪﹝ ฺ★˒ 4TUNE ﹙ 4곡조 ; pronounced ATTUNE ﹚❫ is a south korean boy group formed and managed by LIGHT UP ENTERTAINMENT. originally known as a predebut group called DRAGON BOYS ( due to all of the members being born in 2000, making dragon their chinese zodiac sign ), despite their young age, the six members XIN, JITAE, YUYEON, JAEHO, JIANHAO, and KAIZ would quickly cement themselves as an act other third gen groups should be worried about; being the fastest group to achieve a perfect all kill, and winning best new artist and a dasaeng for song of the year at the mama awards just months after their debut.

like everything else, 4TUNE’s highs were also accompanied by lows. behind the scenes, the boys were pressured to be nothing short of perfect. being LIGHT UP ENTERTAINMENT’s only act, they were constantly forced to practice and make several comebacks and appearances to uphold their reputation.

the company was starving for fame and more specifically money. they would sell the boys personal schedules and sometimes even the hotel rooms they were staying at to get extra cash here and there. the boys had no privacy at all.

just before their first comeback, their original seventh member YESEONG would be pulled out of the company by his parents due to them being concerned about his safety. after seeing the other members with bruises YESEONG’s parents would also try to contact the other parents to let them see what was truly going on. but the boys were already so accustomed to it that they convinced their parents to let them stay. after all, they had been told that this was the price to fame, and that every other company would do the same.

the company would be under control of 4TUNE from their debut in 2016 until early 2024 when their contract would be terminated by LIGHT UP, harmonies are still awaiting the news of the group being bought by another company.

❪﹝ ฺ★˒ YUYEON ﹙ 임유연 ; lim yu yeon ﹚❫ is the leader of boy group 4TUNE born march 31st, 2000. he started training because he loved dancing, he went to the audition with his friend YESEONG and didn’t really expect much from it but got accepted anyways. he’s always been very quiet and shy, the most introverted in the group. to be honest he’s never really been very confident in his abilities as a leader; and it’s often speculated that he was chosen for such role because he was the least likely to talk back and protest to the things happening to the group. despite being really quiet off stage, he really tends to shine on stage. many harmonies say that he’s the member that drew them to 4TUNE.
