“Welcome to L.A.,” Gia scoffed, eyeing the loaf of bread that the woman had picked up before snatching up one of her own. She contemplated purchasing the item for a moment before she found the price sticker read fifteen dollars. “What the fuck,” She muttered aloud before continuing. “Everything in California is a fucking scam.” 

A snort and she shakes her head, “People charge what they think they’re worth. With hand-made, artisan things they spend more time doing it because no mass-producing machines are involved so the price gets upped because of labor. It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better but...”

A shrug and Cass offered Gia a slightly crooked-smile, “It’s why fairs like this happen, you get people distracted and sell them an eighteen dollar candle that isn’t much different from the ones they buy from the store.”

After yet another less-than-pleasing phone conversation with her mother, Cass had decided to wander out into the controlled-chaos that now permeated their area. She’d heard it wasn’t really that surprising for things like this to happen all the time, but the band with its mistuned instruments and pitchy vocals weren’t really helping her mood.

The usually bubbly blonde made a face and turned to pick up a loaf of what looked like freshly baked bread with jalapenos, “My headache was bad enough after that talk with my mother...”

“I’m not sure anyone can tell the future, but we can dream for it? It’s all about the enjoyment... pursuing the idea of what could be; nothing is set in stone, but we should always look to the future.” Cassandra offers a smile.

“ wait, do you think she can really tell the future? like.. for real?? ”

“c'est en quelque sorte incroyable.” Cass murmured, glancing over to Veronique, and lifting her shoulder in a delicate shrug. At the follow-up question, she reached out to pick up one of the soaps, the hand-made label on it boasting a list of natural ingredients, “This one has goat’s milk so... yes, but they do use animal products if that is an issue with you?”

“je ne peux pas en croire mes yeux!” véronique exclaimed as she let her gaze travel from left to right, trying to take in all the bustle of the street fair. she’d only been in silver lake for a year and the little los angeles neighborhood was hardly one of the most interesting places she’d lived, but not for trying. there always seemed to be something going on. “do you think those soaps are animal friendly?” she asked, not to anyone in particular.

( she/her ) why the fuck would [ KATHERYN WINNICK ] want to live in sunset court? oh – i guess that’s just [ CASSANDRA DAVIES ], a [ FORTY-TWO ] year old [ HEIRESS ] from [ GLOUCESTERSHIRE, ENGLAND ]. i’m pretty sure they’ve been in los angeles for [ FIVE MONTHS ] and in [ 2C ] for [ FOUR MONTHS ]. i heard they’re in los angeles because [ SHE WANTED TO GET AWAY FROM HER FAMILY AND FIND LOVE ] and that they’ve been [ WRITING FREELANCE ] so they can pay their rent while they’re chasing their dreams. pretty wild, right? anyways, i heard that they’re [ CHARMING ] and [ INTELLIGENT ], but can also be [ FLIGHTY ] and [ DISMISSIVE ], so watch out.

I’m Dee, this is Cassandra, and we’re both hopeless romantic trashbags.

it has been a long time since I’ve let myself write a character who is honestly just looking for love as her main goal, but freedom is also on her mind, you know?

NOTES:

She’s from money and has plenty to live on but still prefers to rely on her own skill to pay her rent as much as possible.

this means she’ll never fail to pay rent even if her writing doesn’t work out but first and foremost she uses her cash before her family’s money.

she should be spoiled but is surprisingly down to earth, and part of the reason she left the family behind was their insisting that she marry based on what would make a good merger for the family rather than for love.

she’s 42 my dudes how about you let her do what she wants, she’s a grown ass woman who looks like a bombshell i think she’ll do ok.

she could have likely lived anywhere in the city but chose something in between poverty and posh because it felt somehow more real for what she wants to write and what she wants to experience. her first month in town was spent searching for the right place.

she loves old movies, black and white shit and anything with a subplot of tragedy and romance.

if you want to possibly be the romance of the century with her (as we build it) hmu because I’d totally love that.

she also needs friends because everyone does so please give me those as well.

and someone to keep her from getting taken advantage of, which could also be any of the above as well gslgsl

i’ll add more later.
