The second piece I contributed to the @mcyt-couture-zine , this one in collaboration with the incredible @earlrot ! I did the lines, he did the gorgeous colors/rendering, and we both brainstormed together on the outfit design. It was super super fun to collaborate with Earlrot on this artwork (everybody go compliment him rn!!!) and I absolutely adore how it came out :D

ANDREW ON THE OTHER HAND suddenly wears MANY rings on BOTH hands and everyone is so busy writing articles and tweets about his sudden new fashion choices that no one questions the one on his ring finger

a thing that i particularly love about the hunger games prequels is how it shows that people have been fighting against the games since their inception

when i was younger and read the original trilogy for the first time i was so bothered how it was 74 years of games, i remember thinking how could it have gone on so long without anyone doing anything

these prequels highlight that people have been fighting from the get-go: lucy gray's defiance, reaper ripping down panem's flags to cover the fallen tributes, haymitch's games and how many others shared his ideologies - the capitol just drowns them out, they rewrite their stories so their efforts are forgotten

liberation takes time and it's built upon the actions of those in the past

Alright in hindsight it is kind of funny that seemingly at first the writers were like “we’re going to have this one-off character who’s basically going to exist for one episode to be the frustratingly impossibly perfect foil for buck,” when writing eddie’s character for the first time.

but then eddie worked so well as a character that they were like “okay, well, we just introduced a Jennifer Love Hewitt character who’s not obviously paired up, so he can be her love interest,” but then jlh had the brilliant idea that maddie should be paired up with chimney and so that was out the window.

So they probably just started really developing the buck/eddie friendship thinking that it made for a fun dumb-and-dumber style best friendship/comedic duo, and they could figure out the love interest thing for both of them in the future. Except they way overshot it and accidentally made them soulmates.

do you think when Chimney, Eddie, & Buck were helping Maddie move in Chimney was thinking, "oh god, oh no, don't look at Eddie, look at me, oh god, oh no, she's so pretty and funny, don't mention the rebar incident, oh god" and Eddie was thinking, "oh god, oh no, is Buck actually setting me up with his sister??? she's beautiful. but how do I get out of this without making anyone mad????" and Buck was thinking, "oh god, oh no, did I just bring single eddie around single maddie???? oh shit, oh no, wait why is this a bad thing? why do I--oh, she thinks Chimney's cute phewww" and Maddie was thinking, "man, that Chimney sure is cute. Oh, look, Buck's being weird about Eddie. Anyway, love that Howie guy :))))))))"

The thing about Neil's mistrust of Betsy is that unlike most fictional characters who dismiss psychologists, Neil doesn't write off her profession as quackery, nor does he consider himself well adjusted.

Neil knows he's fucked up. He knows his personality is paper thin, just another layer of papier mâché that he has spent his life trying to keep anyone from cracking open and seizing the calcified corpse of Nathaniel within.

Neil's existence hinges on total control over his own identity and being able to reinvent it on a dime. The idea that someone not only can, but in fact has made a professional career out of wresting that control away from him, cracking open the layers of paper and glue and not reaching for the center but making him look, is nothing short of a death sentence.
