[HELL] (mini) UPDATE: 5/5/2020

May 6th, [HELL] will officially be 3 YEARS OLD!

We've a ton of things planned, but we're also inviting Hellions to host their own events in our Discord! Keep an eye on #bulletins & #community-org to for those!

Lastly: thank you SO MUCH for 3 amazing years. This guild is what it is because every one of you brings such a wealth of humor, compassion and love to this space. It only exists BECAUSE of how much love you give it. So stay safe, have fun, and let's throw a bash to remember!

[HELL] UPDATE: 2/22/2020

Hey everyone! It’s been a little minute since our last Guild Update (and last Tumblr post in general). Given we’re well into 2020, we figured it was a good time to catch folks up on the goings-on in [HELL]!

We’re (finally) processing our giant backlog of Guild Apps! I don’t have anything witty to say about this: it’s huge, unruly, and the fact it’s gotten this bad is appalling. That said: we’re finally tackling that mountain and chipping away at it. If you applied and never heard back from us, keep an eye out: it’s likely buried in our pile and we should have it pulled out and looked over in the next few weeks! That said...

We probably won’t do open application periods from this point forward. [HELL] has really become a close-knit family environment over the last year and we’re really committed to keeping it that way. To put it bluntly- running a large guild is hard. And while current-[HELL] is by no means a small guild, we would rather preserve our current laid-back atmosphere than expand further! As such, [HELL] will likely remain Friends & Family for the foreseeable future.

We’ve super-expanded beyond Guild Wars 2! While Guild Wars 2 remains our main game (and Guild Missions remain chaotic as ever), we play so much stuff together now oh my God. Our games list includes Warframe, FFXIV, Elder Scrolls Online, Minecraft, Pokémon & soon Animal Crossing: New Horizons! If you’ve been on hiatus because you haven’t been playing GW2, I encourage you to pop in and see what else we’re playing together now. I literally cannot keep up with all the games send Help

We did some spring cleaning on Discord and oh my God it’s so chill now. Movie nights, community-organized events and spontaneous watch parties ABOUND now. The #bulletins channel is now open to all members (provided you don’t abuse it!) to announce events, and we finally have a good Role-Assignment bot for organizing events across games, movie/watch parties, etc! It’s literally night & day from last year how laid-back stuff is I’m kinda losing my mind.

And a WHOLE BUNCH MORE. I could ramble about what’s going down in [HELL] for days given the time to do so, but it’s probably better experienced! So if you’re an existing member who’s out of the loop (or perhaps a patient applicant waiting to be processed)... now’s better than ever to check things out!

Howdy Hellions (and Tyrians!)

Tyria Pride has been great, but did you know it also benefits LGBT charities?

It’s 100% true! Every year, @opencommunity and Gamers Giving Back host Tyria Pride to raise funds for different LGBT charities. This year’s pride benefits Rainbow Railroad, a charity dedicated to helping LGBT+ people escape persecution & violence.

a reminder/word about [HELL]’s creed and spirit as a guild

hey all, guild members and random readers alike! [HELL] has gotten an influx of apps lately, which is SUPER COOL! however, with a growing number of people interested in the guild, i wanted to make a post that reminds people of the values we hold as a guild, and the space we want to cultivate for our members.

[HELL] is not just an LGBT guild. we are an LGBT guild that also has very specific beliefs and virtues: we not only are protective of and value the rights of LGBT people, but we also adamantly detest all forms of bigotry, including racism, ableism, intersexism, xenophobia, and so forth. we have a no-tolerance rule for the support of these things, and a no-tolerance rule for the support of fascism, and we also are generally not fond of capitalism given how it has directly enforced all of these forms of bigotry. we adamantly stand against and have no tolerance for pedophilia, or people turning abuse and sexual assault into fetishes/kinks, either. not to mention no tolerance for TERF or transmedicalist/truscum ideology.

we don’t wish to be a space that actively discusses and gets into debates about politics. the point of all these virtues is that we want the members to feel like they don’t have to debate about politics here– that we are all on the same page when it comes to valuing human life! that this is a space where you can be yourself, not just as an LGBT person but as someone who might be a person of color or who is homeless or who is intersex or who is a survivor of any number of traumas, and not have to constantly worry that people are going to step all over you or hate you for those things!

again, while we really don’t like arguments or discourse happening in our spaces and will end conversations if they get too intense, we don’t have a ban on things like oppression or people’s feelings about it being mentioned. if you join [HELL], you will inevitably see people say things like “wow this person said something kind of racist”, “this person is posting really gross content of a child character be wary/block them”, “i fucking hate trump”, or so on. if these kinds of things make you extremely uncomfy to see, and you feel like they are an affront to your personal beliefs, then [HELL] guild is not the right kind of space for you.

and if our guild isn’t the right space for you, that’s okay! there’s tons and tons of other LGBT guilds out there who might be a bit more politically neutral. but if you have taken an interest in our guild, i ask that you keep the above in mind and consider it before applying. thank you!
