HW5 Q3
The facts of the case
PCI sets the standard for technical and operation requirements to protect cardholder data.
PCI is not the law it simply is a contractual relationship between merchant and card company
If you aren’t PCI compliant, the card manufactures might ban you from accepting their branded cards.
When you aren’t PCI compliant, most customers will not shop with you, and also it ruins your company's reputation.Â
There are only 12 requirements that you have to follow to be PCI Compliant
The most important is protecting the card data information of the customer.
Analysis
Even though being PCI compliant is not requirement to take credit cards. However, since the main manufacturers including Discover, JCB, Mastercard, and Visa made these rules, its pretty hard not to be PCI compliant. These restrictions are put in place to protect the customer.Â
My conclusion
I believe being PCI compliant is a good idea. I'm always shopping, or using my credit card, so knowing that my card information safe would give me more confidence to shop with a merchant. There have been so many horror stories of credit card fraud, and identity theft. So being PCI is the way to go.
Future environment
In the future environment, every merchant would be required to be PCI compliant, and also when the customers slides their card it would automatically send the merchant information to the card company that tells them if the merchant is PCI compliant or not, this would make finding those non-compliant merchant faster, and shutting them down.
Future scenario
If a merchant is non-PCI compliant, the penalties are already in place. I think the customer would need to hang a sign on their store, or on their online website that states “ Non-PCI compliant”, that should be a required to that customers know not to shop with them, or use their best judgement.Â

HW6 Q3
The facts of the case:
Robotics will not be going anywhere soon
People are concerned about Robotics and making final decisions about their life
There is a major concern about using Lethal robots in the military field.Â
Robots are designed to help, and not hard humans.Â
Scientist believe that robots will make more mistakes than an actual human.Â
Analysis.
As a millennial, I think that robots are really essential in our progressiveness as a Country. I can understand why people would feel uneasy about Robotic assistance, because of the track record that precedes robots. However, I feel as if robotics have helped the US more than it has hurt us. Sometimes we don’t know where robotics are used, for example Apple uses robots to quickly make our iPhone. So, if we didn’t have that then we probably wouldn’t be able to order as many.
My conclusions
Robotic assistance has been around for a very long time, I think the main issue is that most older people did not go grow up with computers, so it’s slightly harder to adjust, even the simple things as checking email or placing an online order. So, that fear of change translates into their mindset of robotics. However, I do feel as if the Lethal Robots could really cause harm if not managed correctly.
Future environment
In my future environment, everyone would be assigned a Robot. The robot would be be programmed with the basic robotic ethics, but then they would take on most of their training from their owner. So, this would make some people feel comfortable about being around robots. However, since most of the training would come from a regular citizen, it could cause issues when robots are interacting with other robots, and humans outside of their usual interactions.Â
Future scenario
I feel as if my future scenario is actually playing out now, even though people are uncomfortable with Robots, they are not going away anytime soon However, it would be nice if a human saw a robot doing something wrong, or malfunctioning it would be great if there could be a process to immediately report that, and temporarily decommission the robot after proper investigation.Â

HW6 Case Q2
I’ll be answering my own questions.
1. Do you prefer a world with Robotic Assistance? Why or Why Not?
I prefer robotic assistance, because I have seen all of the technological advances that Robotics have helped with, especially in Automation software
2. Should the military use Lethal Robots as a form of defense?
Lethal Robotics should only be used when human life is in danger, or if there is a unknown situation that needs to be investigated.Â
3. If we did not have Robotic assistance now, what areas do you think we would be lagging in?
We would be so behind, even the simple things like paying our bill at Kiosk, or going to a vending machine, or talking to an IVR. So, its the smaller innovations that have made my life easier.
4. What's one area where Robotics should never be?
Final Decisions in Banking, healthcare, and education. Those final decision should be made by a human.
5, Do you think that Robotics can protect data breaches, or prevent massive technology hacks better than human beings? Why or Why Not?
Absolutely, Robots are programmed to do specific things, and are well capable of protecting data, sometimes better than humans.

https://interestingengineering.com/roboethics-the-human-ethics-applied-to-robots#:~:text=A%20robot%20may%20not%20injure,conflict%20with%20the%20First%20Law
8 important facts about the case
Military Robots have been around since WW2 and the Cold Wat
Robots are required not to injure a human being or allow a human being to come to harm
A robot must protect its existence, as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law
Roboticists still struggle on how to simultaneously engineer and provide ethical sanctions for robots.
The current growth of robotic ethics has become increasingly important; some argue that robots will build a better world, and others argue that they will not.
Service Robots are programmed to assist, whereas Lethal Robots are designed to kill
Scientists argue that Lethal robots are unethical, as they make mistakes more quickly than humans.Â
As of today, people are expecting robots to be more active in the future years.
List of questions
1. Do you prefer a world with Robotic Assistance? Why or Why Not?
2. Should the military use Lethal Robots as a form of defense?
3. If we did not have Robotic assistance now, what areas do you think we would be lagging in?
4. What's one area where Robotics should never be?

HW5 Proj
In continuing my project I have started to add headings, and sub-headings in my paper. I explained what Artificial Intelligence is:
“Today, Ai is referred to as “machines that respond to stimulation consistent with traditional responses from humans” According to researchers Shubhendu and Vijay “these systems “ make decisions which normally require a human level expertise” Artificial Intelligence is designed to make instantaneous decisions, based on real time collected data from various different sources. Next, that data is separated and labeled into “ Data Sets”, which is a collection of data that corresponds to certain variables such as height, weight, sex etc. Data sets can also be a collection of documents and files. Here are some  examples of Artificial Intelligence:”
I also start to give examples of what Ai is:
iRobot Vacuums: Ai used to scan the room size, identify obstacles, and remember the most efficient route for cleaning.
Robo Advisor: Ai is used to learn about an investor, and build a personal portfolio based on their financial plans.
Google Maps: Ai used to scan the road and uses algorithms to determine the best route to take by car, foot, bike, bus or train.
Facebook: Ai is used to analyze your activity and interact with you through Chatbots, what you see on your news feed, photo-tagging suggestionsÂ
Next, I will be giving diving into the specific problem related to Ai, and how it has effected different communities, and our economy.
I was considering exploring ways we can keep Ai ethical, so looking up different rules an laws that are in place to help control Ai.

HW5 case Q2
I will be answering my own questions
1. Why do you think these rules were originally put in place?
I feel as if these rules were put in place to unify all the major credit card companies, and to stop identity fraud. Also, to set a standard that all merchants must follow for the safety of the cardholders.
2. Do you think that every company should be PCI compliant, even if their a very small company? Why or Why not?
Every company should be PCI compliant. However, I do think that there should be resources available to help business become PCI compliant, especially for new business owners.
3. What is a fair punishment for not being compliant?
I believe it should be in warnings, but ultimately if you refuse to become compliant then jail time should be imposed.
4.What is the most important rule in your opinion? Why?
They are all important, but I think “ Protect Cardholder data” is a big one because it encompasses to much. Your duty is to protect the sensitive personal cardholder data.
5. If there was a robot that determined if your company was compliant, would it be fair to impose instant fines each time your company is not compliant? Why or Why not?
I think it would be nice to have a personal assistant tell you when you are not following the PCI rules. However, I think that you should have a certain amount of time to fix it before a fine is imposed.

HW5 case Q1
I will be discussing the Payment Card Industry Standards, the link can be found here:
https://www.americanbar.org/groups/litigation/committees/minority-trial-lawyer/practice/2019/the-payment-card-industry-data-security-standard/
8 facts about the PCI Standard
founded by American Express, Discover, JCB, Mastercard, and Visa.
PCI is the technical standard that protects cardholder data
all stores that process, or transmit cardholder data must be PCI compliant this includes credit card numbers, account numbers and VVV’s
if a merchant is not PCI compliant there could be penalties associated with not being compliant. Penalties can cost between $5,000-$500,000
According to the 2018 payment security reports, only 46% of companies in Europe and 39% of companies in America are PCI compliant.
If breaches continuously occur, card brands can revoke a merchants right to process transactions with their cards.
the actual rules are based on protecting cardholders data. Merchants are required to have a firewall.
they are also required to encrypt transmission of cardholder data across, open public networks.
1. Why do you think these rules were originally put in place?
2. Do you think that every company should be PCI compliant, even if their a very small company? Why or Why not?
3. What is a fair punishment for not being compliant?
4.What is the most important rule in your opinion? Why?
5. If there was a robot that determined if your company was compliant, would it be fair to impose instant fines each time your company is not compliant? Why or Why not?

Last Lecture Discussion Question
1. The video was intended as life advice to whom?
I believe the advice for his kids, and other children, and anybody who wanted to live out their dream.
2. List the advice items that you/your group can recall below. (Many, but not all, are related to ethics.) For each, note whether you agree or not.
It’s not what you say, but how you say it
Randy gives an example to two people saying the same thing, but put emphasis on the difference. This remind me of an ethics code because it’s telling you use the correct tone, and speak respectfully to others.
Work and play well with others
This advice can apply to children and adults, really anybody. It’s a golden rule in my opinion.Â
 Apologize Properly
This is an ethical thing to do, when you apologize you want the recipient to feel the sincerity, so ensure that you are using the proper words to convey your sincerity.
 Do the right thing
This is also a golden rule, also one of the original rules in my ethical code.
 Show Gratitude
Always show gratitude, it makes people want to work with you again. It keeps you humble, and grows your network of people who are willing to work with you.Â

Notes on Video 3/30/21
After listening to Randy Pausch last lecture, I was simply amazed by his story. Randy was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer back in September 2006. He did so many different treatments, and things to help fight this disease. After so many different failed attempts a year later the doctor gave him 3-7 months to live. So, he delivered his last speech in September 2007.
I like how he visits his childhood, and explains his relationship with his parents, and also how he encouraged children to explore their imagination. Pausch had 3 children Chloe, Logan, and Dylan. Randy was a professor a he taught interactive storytelling, virtual reality, transformational games, and design. One of Randy's most notable projects was his program called “ Alice”, this software that teaches kids how to code through making movies or creating videos.
It seems as if Randy enjoyed helping others achieve their dreams. He discusses the importance of integrity and living with intention, the value of hard work, and positive. He believe that the only way to achieve your dream required hard work and the willingness to take on difficult circumstances with positivity. He believes that working in groups is powerful because it helps build relationships, and relationships are powerful.Â
Randy wanted to leave a legacy behind to his children, the reader is led to believe that the life lessons that he discussed also applies to them as well. Randy left this last lecture to his children so that they could feel and understand the love he had for them even after his death.

HW4 Q3
The facts of the case:Â
Everyone has to follow a certain set of ethical rules. Even web professionals. Often times when we think about Ethics, web professionals doesn’t come to mind. However, when you are working with clients and have their intellectual property, and sensitive information you have to make sure that you have a certain set of rules that you follow. This makes your client feel comfortable, and it also holds you accountable as well.
Analysis:
I think it’s amazing that every profession has their own set of ethics. I’ve found that there are certain similarities in Ethic rules. They all seem to have the “ do what’s right” motto. So, honestly, and being integral is essential in any code of ethics.
My conclusions
If you ever plan on working with a company, or individual. Always make sure they follow a code of ethics, and see if the align with you follow. As a web professional it is important that you let your clients know that you follow a code of ethics.
Future Environment
In a future environment, I could see a code of ethics being required for all companies, and human beings. Then we could have scanners, or some type of device that can scan the company profile or individual and it would tell you if their ethics align with yours.
Future Scenario
If I was hired by a company to design a website, they would be able to use this scanner device that scans my profile and determine if I followed my code of ethics, and if it aligns with their company ethics.Â

HW4 Case Q2
https://andrleblog.tumblr.com/
Do you think that ASME ordered the code in order to show a rank of importance? (i.e. is the first rule listed the most important out of them, the second the second most, etc.)
I don’t think they were listed by importance, I think each of them are equally important.
Why do you think that ASME listed the sixth rule?
Probably because they only want to deal with people that has a proved record of success, and don’t want to tarnish their brand by associating with sub-par companies/people.
Do you think the code is worded plainly enough or is it too complicated, leading to the necessity of recording the various interpretations of it?
It does seem a little wordy. However, I would try my best to condense just a bit.
Would you have added more principles to the preface of the code?
No, I wouldn’t add anymore. I think that less is more, and you can convey a lot through text,
Could this code of ethics be applied to computer science to the same effect in order to promote cybersecurity?
Absolutely, I’m finding that every code of ethics has some type of similarity that can applied across different industries.

HW4Case Q1
I used the Web Development code of ethics which can be found here:
https://webprofessionals.org/webprofessionals-org-code-of-ethics/
Important Facts:
As a Web Professional it is your responsibility to make sure that everything that you create is accurate and reflects honest intentions.Â
This code of ethics was created to hold web professionals accountable for all of the web sites, and development that they do.
Always Protect your intellectual property, it’s so easy to go on the web and copy and paste content. Make sure you have the proper protocols in place to make your content confidential.
When you get a new client, or have an existing client, you always want to make sure that you are responsive, and communicative. Always make sure that you honest about your availability, and set proper expectations.
Only sell customers what you can do, you never want to be in a situation when you tell a customer that you can perform a skill that you can’t.
Always put all of your request in writing, that way both parties will be able to be on the same page.
Never share any information about your clients to anyone, they are trusting you with their confidential information, and they expect you to keep that safe
Continue to learn, and expand your skills as technology is rapidly changing.Â
Do you think that these rules are common sense? Why or Why Not?
What other rules would you add as a web developer?
What type of ethic code do you think rule 1 is?
Do you think these rules could be applied to graphic designers, or any other content creator?
Can we apply these rules to Data Scientist?

HW4 Project
In continuing my project, I gathered all of my notes from the previous two sessions and organized them into a word document. As I structured my document and read more articles on Ai, I decided to change my paper topic to “ Biased Decision Making in Ai” emphasizing racism. I explained what artificial intelligence is, the code of ethics, history, and how prevalent Ai is across all work industries.Â
Next: I will expound more on Ai's specific issues, giving different examples of bias decision-making programs and groups who have been victims of the software. I will go more into companies that have received backlash from faulty Ai software while posing ethical questions.
I will be ending with policies and procedures that help prevent biased decision programs from making the wrong decision.Â
I was also considering doing an interactive website, but I may add multi-media to my document. Not 100% sure yet.

Notes on Recording of Lecture of 03/09/2021 I formatted these bullets, and evetime I posted, it just ran all together.
Code of Ethics are a set of rules for ethical conduct
Referenced the ACM Code of ethics description, and analyzing the type of ethic
I believe that it is UtilitarianÂ
Reference the ACM code of ethics
General Ethics
These rules are more general ethics, avoid harm, be respectful. More universal ethics.
Professional Responsibilities
touches on knowing the rules staying professional
“know and respect existing rules pertaining to professional work”
Utilitarianism- because it is useful
Deontological- because it is telling you to follow the rulesÂ
Leadership Principles
Compliance with Code
Ten Commandments of Computer Ethics
“Thou shalt not bear witness, what does this mean”
I believe it means that you should stay integral, and not falsify any information.
The most utilitarian rule in my opinion
“Thou shalt always use a computer is ways that ensure consideration and respect for your humans.”
This is because it is for the well-being for other humans.
“Though shalt think about the social consequences of the program you are writing or the system you are designing
Also utilitarianÂ
Code of ethics for thieves
This is a code of conduct on who and who not to steal from (fantasy)
Robinhood is a great example, student mentioned that he was only allowed to steal from rich people, not poor people.
Rabbit Mountain Bike Trail
Outdoor Ethics“ This is your park, removing, defacing, or destroying plants…………….is harmful and illegal.
I believe this is a mixture of all 3 ethic types.Â
Deontological- follow the rules, because it’s illegal
Utilitarian- It’s a public park, and its for everyone. So, it’s looking out for the masses.
Virtue ethics- this is your park, basically treat it like your own.

HW3 Case Q3
1. Facts of the case:Â John is a respected, well-known professor at Rowan University. He was found guilty of falsifying/altering lab results and data. Essentially, he wanted to represent the data differently so that the outcome would be favorable for him. As a result, many of his papers and work was retracted. The ORI conducted an investigation and found him guilty; most of his previous work before the ORI investigation has been retracted because of the judgment. As his punishment, John agreed not to submit any grants to the Federal government, work as an advisor, etc., for five years. This was called the Voluntary exclusion program.Â
2. Analysis:Â I do feel that John was wrong for presenting false data. It affects many different people and changes how they think of you. All of the student body now sees John as the Professor that falsified lab results. On the other hand, you have his co-workers doubting the credibility of his work. Even though his actions were wrong, I would love to explore the reason behind his decision and see what his thought process was. He could've been under a tremendous amount of pressure.Â
3. Conclusions: Unfortunately, John had to be the example. On the other hand, I'm glad that there were repercussions for his actions. I really wish that all of his other work would’ve been investigated before it got retracted. However, once you get caught in something like that, everything is in question.
4. Future environment: Technology is all around us; it helps us navigate through life. If only there were a BOT that could automatically detect these types of problems. Suppose John had the option to rethink his decisions and was presented with the consequences before he altered his lab results.Â
5. Future scenario: In the future, I would want a BOT to evaluate all of Johns's Data, and give him the option to submit or decline. The BOT would warn him of all the different consequences involved. In this case, if John would've ignored the warning from the BOT, his punishment should be a little worse, since he was advised by artificial intelligence.Â
