Just read your latest comic! I really love your Silver Parent Trap AU!!

(This ask is going to be filled with questions, lol.)

I literally thought to myself: "hm. They're (Sonic and Shadow) gonna have to tie a rope around Silver's waist or something to keep him from floating off like a balloon."

But now that I'm thinking about it, would Silver's powers develop over time?

2. Like, for example, when Silver is a little kid, would he only be able to use his powers for short periods of time?

And, following that train of logic, his powers would develop more and get stronger as he got older, allowing himself to use them for longer periods of time and maybe to be able to control more things.

Oh! And going with that:

3. In general, would a Mobian's powers deteriorate after a certain age?

4. Or would they continue to grow stronger (as long as the person was using them consistently) until their death?

I had Shadow in mind with these last two questions (3 and 4). I know he's only half Mobian and the Ultimate Lifeform, but there's got to be limits somewhere to how much his powers can develop (...remembering he has inhibitor rings, maybe they would stop--or at least slow down--the development of his powers if powers continue to develop as one ages).

5. And could some illnesses or medical events (the deadly ones (ex: cancer and rabies (?), a stroke and a heart attack, physical or mental trauma (mainly these two!!))) cause the deterioration of powers, maybe even to a point of permanently limiting how much power one could use? Maybe even some poisons or venoms could as well!

(and adding on to the list from question 5: major depression or anxiety)

1/2: Silvers powers are definitely more unpredictable when he's a baby/kid. I don't think they get stronger as he gets older, but his control of them improves. At first the powers are pretty emotions-based, so if baby silver starts laughing things start floating, or if he throws a tantrum things start breaking. But as he gets older he gets them more under control.

Also they change colors!! his telekinesis starts out more of a light blue but then turns to more of a dark teal as he ages.

3/4: i totally agree, Shadows powers don't develop infinitely. I think his powers/body can only hold up to a certain amount of chaos, and they increase until he hits that limit. At that point he has to get a stronger set of inhibitor rings--which i think don't slow the development of his powers so much as contain a set amount of chaos so he doesn't explode.

5: I would think it's like a spider man situation. (that's the best way my brain can think to explain it lol) Like emotions/depression/anxiety/mental trauma would definitely mess with both Shadow and Silvers ability to control their powers.

Silvers telekinesis requires a lot of concentration, so if he had any disease/poison/mental illness that messed with that, his powers would probably weaken or vanish completely.

And Shadow's powers, instead of weakening, would i think just spiral out of control. Even in the mental/physical trauma--those things affect him, and he is the only thing keeping all that chaos energy in check. The chaos isn't affected by trauma, but his ability to keep it in is affected. Disease-wise, though, i think the chaos mostly burns all the poison/venom/virus away. Ultimate Lifeform can't really get sick, after all.

(buuuut i do think it would be cool if certain diseases could corrupt his powers. metal-virus style).

This is Kai!! Kai the Tibetan Sand Fox. Adopted by Kit and Tails at some point—so they ARE his dads, but I don’t think of them as NECESSARILY together. I would also love a Tails-Kit QPR. Cause. Like. Right? See the vision?

he’s not sure how he feels about mechanics yet; Tails keeps trying to get him into it but machines are loud and big and scary. So…currently not a fan.

But you know what’s small and harmless and quiet? Bugs. Kai loves bugs. The only time they will ever get angry is if you step on bugs. Or, like, hurt their dads or something.

He loves his dads a lot. Also his variety of aunts/uncles, but he doesn’t smile at them. Only his dads get the smile.

Like I said—Kit and Tails are maaaaaybe married, maybe platonically married, maybe in a qpr, maybe roommates. Either way they adopted Kai after rescuing him from a bunch of human alien-poachers.

There will MOST LIKELY be more on Kai later, and their dynamics with their dads, various aunts and uncles, etc. love them so much. Okay.

What if Silver is able to travel back to a point before his dads died, the past versions of his parents with him, past Sonic and Shadow both going super using their own emeralds.

it would be QUITE the cinematic ending for sure heheh, i considered this as one of the ways it could go--but grandfather paradoxes are kicking my butt and i suppose i have to solve time travel before i can decide on a climax 🥲.

but anyways ty for the idea!! love it when people are into my story heheh
