@the-arkham-librarian | ❛ why did you really come back? ❜
The charm fades in his smile, and his eyes lower even if his feet keep their sway, going through the motions of the dance. His hand squeezes hers. He shouldn’t have made his own party. “I left once before...to get the strength I needed to protect what little I had left. And for just a moment I convinced myself, it could never happen to me again.” He meets her eyes, and kisses her hand, preparing to part. “It’s June again. And I made a promise.”

@miasma-of-fear | 36: bite my muse
Bats catches him at the shoulder, pressing down at a pressure point but not before the Scarecrow leaves a one-inch c-shaped divet made by his teeth at the corner of his exposed jaw. He lets out a gruff yell and bites back the rest of his pain. He closes his grip, using his strength to wrap his arm around his back and snap to his belt for the batcuffs.

@bcckwcrm | ❛ why did you save me? ❜
“You pulled yourself out.” Truly, even if he gave him a boost, of the two of them in an open grave, it must be his own name on the headstone. “You don’t seek it out…” The gargoyle at his window swings to slip into his residence discretely. He pulls a book from behind his cape, marked at the pages with red ink. There’s a note tucked behind the cover, in code. “This one’s tricky. Mind deciphering it?”
