Thalia stood in the hallway of her hotel room, phone in hand, heart racing as she stared at her father’s name flashing on the screen. After the whirlwind night of unexpected soulmates and revelations, this was the last thing she wanted to deal with. But she couldn’t avoid him forever. With a deep breath, she hit the answer button.
“Finally!” Her father’s voice boomed on the other end before she could even say hello. “Gong Thalia, do you have any idea how worried I’ve been? I’ve been calling and texting for hours! You don’t just ignore your father like that!”
“I’m sorry, Dad,” Thalia murmured, pressing her back against the wall. “I was… busy.”
“Busy?” he repeated, his tone sharp. “You were supposed to call me when you landed. You can’t just not answer your phone like that! Do you understand how worried I was? And your mother, that woman has been blowing up my phone! Did you not tell her you were coming?”
Thalia winced at the mention of her mom. “I did tell her, you know how she is. And I wasn’t trying to make anyone worry. It’s just… a lot happened yesterday.”
Her dad’s tone softened slightly, though there was still an edge of frustration. “Where are you right now?”
“At a hotel. I’m fine, I promise.”
“Nonsense! Check out of the hotel and come to my place.” he said firmly. “We have a lot to talk about.”
Before she could argue, the line went dead.
Thalia finally arrived at her Dad's house. After thanking the driver she walked to the front door which her Dad immediately opened. As she approached, he looked up, his stern expression melting into something softer.
“Oh, my baby. I missed you. You've grown,” he said as he pulled her into a tight hug. "You look tired."
Thalia shrugged, and flopped on his couch. “It’s been… a weird couple of days.”
Her father sat in a chair adjacent from the couch and leaned forward, his hands clasped on the table. “Weird how?”
She hesitated. How could she possibly explain everything that had happened without sounding crazy? “Just… adjusting to being here. It’s different. Different but nice. I haven't been here since I was like five. But I can't complain it's much better than staying with mom's crazy ass-”
"Language" her dad sternly interjected. He studied her for a moment, his gaze searching. “I know things have been hard on you, and I certainly know how your mother can be. You should consider moving here, with me. You know I only want what’s best for you.”
“I know, Dad,” she said quietly, fiddling with the strap of her bag. "I might actually have no choice but to stay in Korea anyways."
"And why is that" her Dad said raising an eyebrow.
"I may or may not have met my soulmates." Thalia mumbled under her breath.
"Wait what?" Her Dad said eyes widened in shock. "and did you say soulmates as in more than one"
"Uhhh, yeah" Thalia said fidgeting. "so you know the group Enhypen?"
As Thalia spend the next couple of minutes explain everything that had transpired she got a call from her soulmates manager requesting to have a meeting.
Later that evening, Thalia found herself in a sleek conference room, seated across from the members of Enhypen, their manager, and several staff members. The atmosphere was tense but not unfriendly, and Thalia couldn’t help but feel like the odd one out.
Their manager, a sharp-looking man with long hair named Yuki, spoke first. “Thalia, first of all, let me say that we’re thrilled that Enhypen has finally found you. This is certainly an unprecedented situation, and we want to handle it with care—for both you and the members.”
Thalia nodded, unsure of what to say.
Yuki continued, “The fact that you’re their soulmate is something that will eventually come to light, but for now, we need to proceed carefully. Your safety and privacy are our top priorities.”
“We were thinking,” Jungwon interjected, his tone calm and measured, “that it might be best if you stay with us at the dorms for a while. At least until we figure out how to move forward.”
Thalia’s eyes widened. “Stay with you?”
“It’s just a temporary arrangement,” Heeseung added quickly. “You wouldn’t have to decide anything right away. We just want you to have a safe place while we… navigate this.”
Jay leaned forward, his expression earnest. “It’s up to you, though. No pressure.”
Yuki nodded. “If you agree, we’ll ensure that everything is discreet. You’ll have your own space, and the staff will handle any logistics. But if this isn’t something you’re comfortable with, we can explore other options.”
Thalia glanced at the members, all of whom were looking at her with varying degrees of hope and concern. She bit her lip, her mind racing. The idea of moving into their dorms felt overwhelming, but there was also a strange sense of comfort in their presence—a pull she couldn’t quite explain.
“I… I need some time to think about it,” she said finally. "And I need to talk to my parents about it."
“Of course,” Jungwon said, offering her a small smile. “Take all the time you need.”
As the meeting wrapped up, Thalia felt the weight of the decision pressing down on her. Her life had already been turned upside down, and now she was standing at another crossroads.
Fate, it seemed, wasn’t done with her yet.
A few days later Thalia agreed to move in the boys, which they were very happy about. The real challenge, however, came when she had to explain to her Dad, which he eventually and reluctantly accepted. Her mother on the other hand did not take the news well. The call ultimately ended with her mom guilt tripping her before cursing her out and abruptly ending the call.
Thalia tapped her foot nervously as she paced the small lobby of the Enhypen dorm building. This was not how she imagined introducing her father to her soulmates—not that she had ever imagined introducing her father to a K-pop group as her soulmates in the first place.
“You’ll be fine,” Ni-ki said, leaning casually against the wall nearby.
“Easy for you to say,” Thalia shot back. “Your dad isn’t the extremely overprotective Gong Yoo.”
The mention of her father’s name made Sunghoon chuckle nervously. “Yeah, about that. I can't believe you didn't tell us who your dad is sooner… he’s, uh, kind of a big deal.”
“No kidding,” Jake muttered, fixing his hair for the tenth time. “My mom loves him. She’s seen all his dramas.”
“He’s gonna hate me,” Jay said, sitting on the arm of a couch with his hands clasped, looking uncharacteristically tense.
Thalia groaned. “Trust me, he’s going to hate all of you.”
"You all are so dramatic" Sunoo teased, seeming to not be phased at all.
Just then, the doors opened, and in strode Gong Yoo himself, his tall frame and commanding presence turning heads even in the casual setting. Dressed in a simple yet tailored outfit, he looked every bit the celebrity he was—and every bit the intimidating father Thalia had warned the boys about.
Thalia froze, and the group collectively straightened up like soldiers preparing for inspection.
“Thalia,” her dad said, his deep voice cutting through the air as he approached her. “So these are the… soulmates you mentioned?”
Thalia nodded weakly. “Yeah, Dad. These are my soulmates”
Gong Yoo’s sharp eyes swept over the seven young men, his expression unreadable. For a moment, no one dared to speak.
Finally, Jungwon, ever the leader, stepped forward and bowed deeply. “It’s an honor to meet you, sir. I’m Yang Jungwon, I'm the leader of Enhypen.”
The others quickly followed suit, bowing and introducing themselves one by one. Gong Yoo listened quietly, his gaze unreadable as he nodded politely to each introduction.
When they were done, he folded his arms and looked directly at Jungwon. “So, you’re the leader. Tell me, how exactly do you plan to protect my daughter?”
Thalia groaned and rolled her eyes.
Jungwon’s eyes widened slightly, but he didn’t flinch. “We’ll do everything we can to make her feel safe and comfortable, sir. Her well-being is our top priority.”
“And what happens when the media finds out?” Gong Yoo pressed, his tone firm. “You do realize this will change her life completely.”
Heeseung stepped forward, his voice steady. “We’ve already started working on a plan with our management team to keep her identity private until she’s ready. We’ll make sure she’s not overwhelmed.”
“Hmm,” Gong Yoo said, his gaze shifting to Jay. “And you. You were the one who touched her first, weren’t you?”
Jay froze, his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. “Uh… y-yes, sir. But I swear it wasn’t intentional!”
The room was so silent you could hear a pin drop as Gong Yoo’s stern expression slowly cracked into a faint smile. “Relax, kid. I’m just messing with you.”
Jay let out a nervous laugh, visibly relieved, while the rest of the group exchanged cautious glances.
Thalia, however, groaned and buried her face in her hands. “Dad, seriously?”
“What?” Gong Yoo said, feigning innocence. “I’m just trying to get to know them. Isn’t that what fathers are supposed to do?”
He turned to Ni-ki, who was watching the interaction with wide eyes. “How old are you, son?”
“Nineteen, sir,” Ni-ki answered, his voice respectful.
“Nineteen,” Gong Yoo repeated thoughtfully. “You’re closer to Thalia’s age than some of these other guys. You'll keep them an check right?”
Ni-ki blinked in surprise, unsure whether that was a compliment or a warning.
“Okay, that’s enough,” Thalia said, stepping between her dad and the boys. “You’ve interrogated them enough for one day.”
But Gong Yoo wasn’t finished. He turned back to the group, his tone softening slightly. “Look, I’ll be honest with you all. Thalia is my only daughter, and I’ve spent her entire life trying to protect her. The idea of her living here, not with me, with seven boys who barely know her… it doesn’t exactly sit well with me.”
The boys shifted uncomfortably, and Thalia looked down, her heart sinking.
“But,” Gong Yoo continued, his gaze softening as he looked at his daughter, “I can see that this is something she wants. And more importantly, I can see that you’re all willing to take this seriously. So… I’ll allow it.”
Thalia’s head snapped up. “Wait, really?”
Her dad sighed. “Yes, really. But there are conditions.”
“Anything,” Sunoo said quickly.
“First, she gets her own room. No exceptions,” Gong Yoo said, his tone leaving no room for argument.
“Of course,” Jungwon agreed immediately.
“Second, you don’t let her get caught up in any of your chaos. She’s not here to be your maid or your babysitter.”
The boys nodded fervently.
“And third…” Gong Yoo’s eyes narrowed slightly. “If anything happens to her—anything at all—I’ll hold each and every one of you personally responsible.”
“Yes, sir,” the group chorused, their voices in perfect unison.
Gong Yoo smiled faintly and turned back to Thalia. “I’m trusting you to take care of yourself, too. Call me if you need anything.”
Thalia hugged him tightly. “Thank you, Dad. I promise I’ll be okay.”
As Gong Yoo left the dorm, the tension in the room finally eased. The boys collectively exhaled, and Ni-ki let out a dramatic, “That was terrifying!”
“Welcome to my life,” Thalia muttered, shaking her head.
“Your dad is… intense,” Jake said, still looking a little pale.
“Yeah...but I can't believe we actually got to meet him” Sunghoon added, sounding half-impressed and half-relieved to still be alive.
Despite the awkwardness, Thalia couldn’t help but smile. Her dad’s approval meant everything, and for the first time since arriving in Korea, she felt like things were finally starting to fall into place.
And as she looked around at the group of boys who were now her soulmates, she realized that maybe, just maybe, this crazy new life wouldn’t be so bad after all.

Fate
Thalia adjusted the strap of her carry-on, her lips set in a firm pout as she trudged behind her overly enthusiastic best friend, Hannah, through Incheon International Airport. The bustling sounds of foreign languages surrounded her, and though Korea was a beautiful place, she was still unconvinced about this trip.
“Hannah, I still can’t believe you dragged me halfway across the world for some boy band concert,” Thalia groaned.
“Uh I dragged you halfway across the world to see Enhypen!” Hannah corrected for the hundredth time. “And trust me, you’re going to love them by the end of this.”
Thalia rolled her eyes but kept quiet, knowing there was no talking her friend out of this obsession.
The stadium was packed, lightsticks glowing like fireflies in a sea of fans. Thalia felt completely out of her element. She stood stiffly beside Hannah, whose Enhypen banner waved frantically in the air as she screamed at the top of her lungs when the lights dimmed.
When the seven members appeared on stage, the cheers were deafening. Thalia couldn’t help but glance up, and though she didn’t want to admit it, their charisma was undeniable. The group danced flawlessly, their synchronicity mesmerizing.
Despite her initial reluctance, Thalia began to bob her head to the rhythm. But she kept her excitement to herself.
Halfway through the concert, the members began interacting with the audience. Thalia sighed, crossing her arms as she scanned the crowd of ecstatic fans pressing toward the stage. Hannah had left to join the chaos, leaving her alone at their spot near the barricade.
Suddenly, the group started splitting off. Jake and Sunghoon were waving from the left, Sunoo and Heeseung from the right, while Jungwon, Ni-ki, and Jay walked directly toward her section.
Thalia froze as Ni-ki leaned over the barricade, laughing and high-fiving fans. In her attempt to avoid eye contact, she accidentally stumbled forward—and collided with Jay’s outstretched hand.
The moment their skin made contact, the world shifted.
A warm, golden light engulfed the space between them. Thalia’s vision blurred, her heart racing as if it were trying to break free from her chest. She wasn’t alone in this reaction.
Jay’s eyes widened in shock, and the other members immediately turned toward them, sensing the surge of energy.
“Did you feel that?” Jay asked, stepping closer, his voice tinged with disbelief.
“It’s her,” Sunghoon whispered, his gaze locking onto Thalia as the connection rippled through all seven of them.
“Wait, what?” Thalia blinked, suddenly aware that the entire group was now looking at her like she was the key to solving some great mystery.
Ni-ki stepped forward, his expression caught between excitement and awe. “You’re… you’re our final soulmate.”
Thalia could only gape at them. Soulmate?
After the concert, Thalia found herself backstage, surrounded by the seven members of Enhypen, with Hannah practically vibrating with excitement beside her.
“How is this even possible?” Thalia muttered, staring at the seven young men who were all staring back at her like she was the most important person in the world.
Jungwon, their leader, spoke first. “Well as you know in this world, each of us is destined to find their soulmates. We’ve already found each other, but… we were missing one person.”
Jake added, “We’ve been looking for you for so long.”
Thalia blinked at them, her arms crossed defensively. “I didn’t sign up for this.”
Sunoo chuckled softly, his warm eyes meeting hers. “Neither did we, but fate doesn’t really ask for permission, does it?”
Something inside Thalia softened at his words, but she still wasn’t ready to accept this bizarre reality. “Okay, let’s say I believe you. What now?”
Heeseung, who had been quiet until now, smiled gently. “Now, we get to know each other.”
“And maybe help you understand why you were meant to be with us,” Sunghoon added.
Despite the whirlwind of emotions swirling in her chest, Thalia couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of belonging she’d never felt before. Maybe, just maybe, she had been brought here for a reason.
And as the night unfolded, Thalia realized that sometimes, soulmates didn’t just mean love—they could mean family, destiny, and a connection that transcended understanding.
Her reluctant trip to Korea had turned into something far greater than she could’ve imagined.
All of a sudden her phone dinged loudly from her pocket interrupting the silence.
She opened up her phone seeing all the missed messages and calls from her Dad.
Shit. She thought
