preparing for final pitching

Last Wednesday is our last meeting with Engr. Mabulay and he taught us what we need to do on our final pitching. He said that we must prepare our pitch deck. He also said that we need to finish our pitch within 3 minutes. He said also that we must to select one member of our team to be the pitcher on final pitching. So that, my team decided that Reeve Dulfo will be our pitcher because he has the skill of speaking english fluently and also has the much more experience. and now we are keep on practicing till on the final day of pitching.. our costumers

Last Wednesday is our second to last meeting with Engr. Mabulay he discuss to us about our costumer and also he give us the idea on how to deal with them. He also discuss to us what is empathy map is. it is very important that we know all of this thing so that we will know  already the steps we are taking before considering the solution to the problem we thought for he specific target market. We have already done interviewing some student in our university about our app. Some of the student  response to us by giving some opinion of what they want to happen on our app. After of the interview we gather all the data and discuss this with team and analyze the problem and look for the solution. that is all for now..

implementing the selected design

My team worked hard in making our application design. Although we no really good in programming but we still doing our best in searching that can be helpful. as far as now we still at the first frame that will be zooming and scrolling. We hope that this app become convenient to user. In our frame there will be a search bar to be click in searching the desire building. Their are also the map of the site and also route and information of the specific building.

Hopefully we can do all of its features. If not, maybe we will have an adjustments but its main purpose will not be vanished. Its main feature which is delivering right and detailed information.

pitching and the voice of the user..

On the first day of our meeting last week Wednesday is it another to day to practice pitching. I was assign o pitch that time so i practice well so that i can pitch it properly. It was my first time to pitch alone so i prepared my self. I delivered my pitch smoothly ad confidently. I presented our problem, solution our target user and even wireframe. after i finished my pitch then sir. Mabulay gave us some comments. In making our wireframe we should do first let our user to experience on it so that they can have their suggestion of what they want to happen of when they are using it. On the next day, we have a special class and we discuss a topic that entitle Voice of the User. during our class sir give us an activity he display a picture and we must observe it an take note all what we observe on it. And we came up on different observation but most of us have the same  correct observation. After that, he tell us this activity is also done in other country same picture is use but their observation was really to far from the exact details. Observation reveals trigger of use, interactions, work arounds, and cultural norms. Observation is a best to understand your costumers or user to make your products marketable.

For now done of the drawing the school map. We already done o how to make the the image can be scroll. It can be scroll horizontally same also in vertical. but we are now struggling on zooming because it is so difficult. Amh, we can zoom the image but their will be a problem of some aspects. We still don’t have a solution yet.

How does it look?

That is the question that came up of our minds. In our project we need to design of the application so that the user will love it. Our application must be user friendly to get our user’s desire. The application must be design in easy to operate or it only compose of three 3 steps so that the user will not find it so hard. My group did not focus on the design at first we create our project. We didn’t think about it because we are just focus on how our application works. But, at the moment that our instructor discuss about the design of the application were going to make then everything has change. We are now facing a new challenge on the way of making our project. We thought that the important of making an application is just how does it work but we are wrong. When Sir. Mabulay give us the hint that our project design must be in 3 clicks only. We cane up of our design after we have finish interview to our prospect users. Their feedback will be our basis on making our design. First frame is the map with the search bar on the top. If you click a building in the map or search located at the search bar, you will be directed to the building information. After that you can select the specific data for more detailed information. That is how it look or design we made for our application or project.

what our user wants

We made our project it because of the problem that may encounter by some of the students, parents and more. We came up to this app to help them but it hard to determine what our user wants. To know our user wants then we implement an interview to our prospect user. By implementing an interview we can the thoughts that may help us in making our design to  our project. interviewing some individual is very useful in making our project design. “ More minds are better than one” it is old saying but it is still useful. Asking our user what they wants led us the solution or knowledge on developing our project. 

We gather all the result of the interview and it is being reported to the class. All the question are presented same with the answers. And with guide of our instructor we can ow make our desire application to be make. But for now we are just planning for the design, what will it looks like. but things that put our minds it must be a user friendly and convenient to our users.

target market, who?

People become dependent of the technology. As the technology increases the life of the become more easier. That is why inventors, engineer, and even normal people making project deals with technology to help people in different way. Some are gadgets, machines , and even android applications as long it is useful to everyone. 

Our group is making an app that showing a map of the particular place. This app can be use or let say that our major target will the student, instructors, and parents who is not really familiar of the specific place. specially USTSP. this app will help them for locating places and this app also serve as a information for every one.

pitching !! the final topic

January 31, 2017 our schedule for the midterm exam. Before that day, my group had to pitched our final topic. From the three topics down to one. The group decided that final topic will be an android application showing the of the school. This project will help our fellow student of locating some place of the school specially buildings, room and offices. This will also visitors of the school and also  parents. This project also gives details about some information on the particular place that the user wants to go. but before we  came up from this, the group has to face the challenge on ho we can earned from this project. That is why my groups had a brain storming deals on that problem. Until such time we found out where to get earned from this project. We can earned by putting advertisements in our application. Also, we can earned by selling our idea of some other school, hospital, malls, and etc. 

During the pitching day my group-mate pitch our topic. He delivered it very well to make our instructor likes it. then our instructor give another assignment. Who will be our target market for this project..

pitching!!!!!!

A pitch typically takes the form of an entrepreneur or group of entrepreneurs presenting or describing their ideas to prospective investors. It is the way of delivering the idea or the plan verbally. On my first pitched I felt so nervous because I don’t have any experience on it. But the purpose of it to practiced us on how to pitch our idea in the front of prospect investors. During that day my team prepared on how we going to pitch our ideas. We prepared three topics in three different problems. The first one is a mobile application that shows a map and when you click on that building or room, it will show different types of information that place have. The second one is a tourist place locator that helps the tourist of Cagayan de Oro to locate some hotels, restaurants and tourist spots. Lastly, our final proposal was electronic shop availability a mobile application that will show availability of a component in all electronic shop in Cagayan de Oro City. The last idea we have was come out a minute before the pitching start. Also, other teams pitch their idea that is also useful to everyone. Now my team still deciding what be our final topic to choose.

Self evaluation

1.)    What are your strong suits?

My strengths are my characteristics and the people around me. Being a talkative is really good specially dealing with others. I have the advantages because I can approach people with confidence. I have this talent that called “ Kapal ng Mukha”. Also people around me gave strength and also motivates me specially my parent that always believe in me on what I am capable of. They always gives their full of I want to be even we not rich. I always look on our situation today and I want to change it.

2.)    What are your weakness?

My strength is also my weakness, because being a talkative person some persons get annoyed by me. Because I speaks to much and fast that some of my words I can’t pronounce it properly that tends that they don’t understand what am I saying. I have also this voice that voice that so loud that I can’t controlled sometimes.  

3.)    What is your topic interest?

I am interested of making something or innovating new technology. I want make a technology base product that are useful to our society. In short I want to become an inventor. I am so amazed by science in partner of technology, because of them our life become so easy. Nowadays more hi-tech gadgets are been made, we have smart phone, smart television, and many to mention. I really amazed by his latest technology that you can control all your appliances at home by the use of your smart phone. I want to learn how it works because I want make something like that. I don’t what they call that kind of technology.

4.)    Why do you want to do a start ups?

I want to do a start up, because I want to make my own business. I want to build a company that I am the boss. I want to start a company that is also my field of interest. By the inventing technology that helps our society to make their life easier. I want make company to increase the demands of jobs in our country. Also to help the progress of the Philippines.

What would I be an engineer or a businessman? For me, I want both. I am so thankful that Techno-Entrepreneurship is added in our curriculum. Now our door of opportunities is wider to be successful not just an engineer but also to be a businessman. This subject will guide us on how thus a business goes through. Then we as an engineer and our knowledge in technology we can make it as a tool that we can put on to business. I am looking forward that this subject hat twill help me a lot of stablish some ideas that serves as a start-up for a business. It’s either a device, a software, or anything that is useful to the society. With the help of Engr. Bronson Mabulay maybe all this thing is possible not a maybe, but yes, it is possible. My expectation to this subject. First, it will help my communication skill to be improve. Because as a businessman you must good communication because are dealing with person and convince to buy your product. Second, I will boost my self-confidence to enter act with people. Third it will help me to be patience and accept some failure that I may encounter. And last. It will train me on how to become a good businessman. As a first activity on this subject we have an experiment that is the rejection therapy. We did to this experiment is that we ask question a random person and we must get a “NO” as an answer. Although it is so shameful but I have to do it. Let me share to you I what did in the mall. I go a loading inside the mall and buy a load worth 10 php and there is a charge of 2 php, but I have only 10 php exact then I ask the saleslady that I will pay the charge later. I kept on convincing her but she kept on saying “NO” and rejecting me, until such time she said yes and I convince her. But most of the person I ask inside the I always get rejected.
