Today’s Tarot: 10 of Wands from the Deviant Moon Tarot.

“An overburdened worker slowly makes his way home after a long day’s labor. Although he struggles, his abilities are sufficient to manage his heavy load.”

That’s the author’s description of the Ten of Wands. It’s in line with the card’s traditional meaning while giving it a positive spin. Overburdened, yes, but the worker is able to carry his load. “I will do this,” he says.

Or is it a positive spin? Sometimes, when we’re overloaded and too stubborn to give up and let go of the load, burnout is the best thing that can happen to us because it forces us to rest and rethink our priorities.

On a day ruled by this card, keep an eye out on tasks that may overburden you. Can you delegate? You don’t have to let go of all your ten wands but your load might be lighter if you could give, like, three of them to someone else to carry.

Wands are the suit of passion and inspiration. Tens are the number of conclusion: of endings and new beginnings. These two don’t mix well because the active, fiery Wands don’t want to be tied down. Passion excites and inspires us but it may inspire us to take on too much to carry. Too many passions become a burden to maintain. To bring it all to conclusion might take up all our energy.

It’s time to either let go of your load or to keep at it and do all the hard work. The choice is yours. Just ask yourself: “What will make me happy? Will I carry this load with a happy or heavy heart?”

Today’s card: 10 of Pentacles from the DruidCraft Tarot.

Meaning: blessings, prosperity, legacy.

Ten is a number of completion, of endings and new beginnings. In the earthy, practical suit of Pentacles, it means creating and enjoying an abundant, prosperous, and full life.

Number 10 adds a sense of continuity: you’re not only enjoying the fruits of your labor privately (as in 9 of Pents), you’re also passing them on to others. You’re enjoying and creating something more permanent and lasting.

This card can literally mean a legacy: receiving one or creating one, either for your family or a wider community. It can mean something you’ve received from your ancestors, built upon, and will pass on to the next generations. It’s something that will live longer than you.

In the smaller matters of everyday life, as a daily card, the ten of Pentacles probably doesn’t mean you’ll receive a fortune from your late aunt Sally (though it can happen). The card means all kinds of wealth, prosperity and abundance. Perhaps you’re enjoying a family tradition or celebration with your loved ones. You may be having a good day at work, you’ve secured a good position and are reaping the rewards. Your investments are doing well. You feel secure and rooted.

Whatever the “legacy” means today, enjoy your day. This is a nice card to get. Take a moment to appreciate the abundance and security in your life. Ask yourself, “Am I creating something positive and lasting today?”
