     “Boss-man’s out again. I don’t know the wildlife here, but this seems like bear country to me. If he’s going out for a late-night hike, he oughta just do laps around the campsite. I imagine the risk of getting eaten is significantly lower that way.”

“I know, I know, but they seem like pretty chill folks. Pretty desperate too, I guess, and I can’t really blame them with the kids they’ve been handling.”

‘I’m just saying, when payday comes, and if they just drop a wad of cash in your hands--no tax deducted--book it asap.’

“I-I know, I just...well, aside from the handful that the campers can be--and, hoo boy, it’s only Sunday, so camp activities and stuff really start tomorrow--they-they seem like...uh...nice? Friendly folks?”

‘...yeah and you remember when I worked at that pizza place, right?’

“I know! I know...I just...wanna give them a chance. Give THIS a chance...”

‘...-sigh- yeah I know...’

‘Well, it’s day one up there. You said it’ll be about a month?’

“Yeah, that’s lookin’ like it.” 

Chuckles.

‘You’ve got plenty of time, then. Not too long, not too short, so enjoy it up there in the mountains for me while I’m dying over here in a hundred and stupid degrees flatlands.’

“Yeah...yeah I’ll--I will...and...and hey, can you give my boy all the cuddles he’s missing for me? I know Lyta can’t stand him, but I know he’s very lonely.”

‘Of course~ And you know you can call me anytime, right?’

“Pfft! Even at ass-crack of dawn?”

‘I mean I’ll tell you to fuck off, but sure.’

Laughter.

“Alrighty, Mags, I’ll remember, so long as I can find a decent signal.”

‘Yeah--oh--oof! I don’t envy you there.’

“For real though...”

I love my silly animated show about kids doing wacky things at a summer camp

newbie spotted snoozing on day 1

Though not the best look, bosses seem surprisingly chill about it. It’s not the worst day 1 newbie they’ve had, which would cause suspicion if newbie was awake to hear that comment.

After an almost 3 hours nap and an extra 30 minutes of processing any single thought, I’ve come to realize in my sleep-deprived hubris, I made a self-insert blog finally

This wasn’t REALLY what I thought was in the cards this summer, but hey man, what better way to start a thing you’ve been thinking about starting than kicking the door in and jumping on the furniture?

So...okay so...

Gwen just swore at a kid, and the kids are swearing at David.

Am I allowed to swear then? This doesn’t seem like one of those child-friendly environments where people gawk at you for swearing around a kid...

maybe I should wait a week before I say the fuck word

...though not gonna lie, I was kinda hoping I could get a nap in before my first shift, but it’s cool it’s fine, I’ll just crash extra hard tonight.

“Thank you so very much again for getting back with us this morning. I-I know the opening was on such short notice, we didn’t really expect anyone to apply this late in the season, so you were kind of a surprise--a-a good surprise I mean!”

A polite chuckle, “No I understand! To be honest, I was kinda surprised to see the position was for the rest of this summer and not a head-start for the next year. Not complaining, of course, I’d consider myself incredibly fortunate if you find me suitable for the half-summer season regardless!”

A bright grin meets one glowing with enthusiasm.

“Well, I’d say WE were the lucky ones to have you find us! After Gwen and I--er, Gwen is my co-counselor, the woman who spoke with you over the phone--”

“Mhm!”

“After we thoroughly reviewed your application, we were both ASTOUNDED by it! Overjoyed even! So--and, again, I’m really sorry Gwen’s not here to share this moment with us, so I hope you don’t mind just my company for this, but--

“WELCOME TO THE CAMP CAMPBELL FAMILY, MISS CELESTE IVOR!

“It’s so WONDERFUL to have you on our team, even if it’s just for the rest of the summer--o-of course you’re very welcome to reapply for next summer if you find Camp Campbell calling for you then!”

“Oh thank you so much, Mr. Birch! I’m so excited to start my time here.”

Bright smiles, neither simply to be polite.

“Oh gosh! You don’t need to call me Mr. Birch! David is just fine.”

“Ahaha! Of course! And if we’re being friendly...

“It’s alright to call me Celeste, I answer to it fine, but my friends usually call me Lamb.”

“Lamb! Haha! I like that! In that case, welcome to the team, Lamb! I think you’re going to really love it here!”

“Hm hm! I think so too, David. I think so too.”

I made this on a whim at 4 in the morning after months of thinking about it so fuck it I guess here we go
