“Mostly what I do these days if I’m honest. Sometimes the Prof asks me to do things for him if he knows I’m heading somewhere specific. Check in on people and situations, that sort of thing,” Peter nodded in agreement, idly noting the gloves on her hands but making no mention of them or that he’d noticed them. Sure, he was nosy as hell, but he had a little bit of tact these days. Just a little bit.
“Theoretically it’s probably possible, providing nothing got in the way and I had a decent meal beforehand. My metabolism is crazy fast as well so I have to eat a ton to keep myself going sometimes. On the plus side I heal pretty quickly too, although the downside of that is that standard painkillers and that sort of thing aren’t worth much when it comes to me.”

“Yep.”
Taking another swig of the apple juice, he filled himself another glass before resting his elbows on his knees, clasping his hands loosely. Briefly he noted the streak of white in her otherwise dark hair, “Yours looks pretty cool. Mine was kind of...mousy brown when I was a kid? Then it went silver first when I was about...ten or so when my powers first kicked in. The white is only something that’s really come in over the past decade or so if I’m honest. Kinda miss the silver.”
His lips quirked a little at her obvious curiosity and he nodded. It had taken him a while to get accustomed to the speed when it had first kicked in, often leaving him disoriented and feeling ill, but now it was something that he wasn’t sure he could function without, as much a part of him as anything else.
“I’ve been known to regularly break the sound barrier, run across water and be an excellent asset in quick evacuations.”

He’d been about to raise the carton to his lips when she spoke and he briefly rolled his eyes before grabbing a glass. He’d probably finish the entire carton anyway, but he supposed it was the thought that counted. That was a thing, right? At least she wasn’t brandishing a frying pan at him anymore.
“Sure did. It’s been a while since I lived here full time of course, but I lived here. Mostly during the eighties, and a bit in the nineties. Struck out on my own after that, but I like to pop in every now and again,” he grinned a little, pushing a hand through his hair as he finished the ice cream bar in what probably appeared to her as the blink of an eye.
“Yes, I’m a mutant. Believe it or not, this wonderful white hair was not an aesthetical choice but apparently a side effect of speed. Or something along those lines. Hank did give me a whole spiel for the possible reasons once but I got bored halfway through and ran to Conneticut and back before he’d finished speaking,” Peter shrugged.

“Not technically breaking in,” he corrected. More like...sneaking in with permission. He’d always had a habit of showing up at odd times and rather than risk leaving a door open, Charles had decided that a window was better, meaning Peter could come and go as he pleased without bothering anyone and without damaging any property in the process.
“Currently, no, because I’m hungry...seriously, who needs this much vinegar?” he wrinkled his nose a little as he studied the contents of another cupboard before darting over to the fridge and pulling it open, “Apple juice, orange juice, eggs, more apple juice...man, somebody really likes apple juice.”
“I guess you must be relatively new then. Haven’t been here in a while but I don’t recognise you and I usually have a pretty good memory for faces,” he turned to look at her again after snagging a carton of apple juice and an ice cream bar, hopping up to sit on the counter, “So no, I’m not just some stranger breaking in. I did live here for a bit once upon a time.”

One eyebrow quirking. Peter briefly raised his hands in a gesture of surrender before idly taking another bite of the biscuit and leaning against the counter. A frying pan was an interesting weapon of choice, but then again he’d seen how well his sister could turn anything into a weapon if he pissed her off enough, so he wasn’t quite going to doubt the possibilities there.
Charles probably already knew he was here. Jean too. That was the thing about going anywhere near telepaths, even he couldn’t be overly sneaky. Both however had admitted that reading his mind was something akin to sensory overload so they weren’t too fond of it, but nonetheless, he imagined that they still had sensed his arrival.
“Peter. And Lucky Charms. They used to be in this cupboard but it looks like some little shit has moved them again. You know where they keep the cereal round here these days?” he asked, lowering his hands and chewing on the biscuit, toeing open another cupboard door and looking vaguely disappointed at the contents.

It had been a while since Peter had visited the mansion. Still, the old building hadn’t changed much since his last visit, or at least not what he could see given that the sun hadn’t quite come up yet so it was still half dark. It had been all too easy to slip in- nice to see the Prof still left a window open for him to get in by, and he’d taken the opportunity to amble into the kitchen and rustle through the cupboards for some sort of breakfast.
It had been…goodness, had it really been over a year since he’d been back here? Usually he left less time between visits but this time he’d been distracted, at least until he’d seen the headlines of all the goings on and just knew that his father had been part of it. Again. Prick.
Sticking a biscuit in his mouth, he went to continue his search when he heard movement and paused, looking up. A student, no doubt, but one he didn’t recognise. Taking the biscuit out of his mouth, he quirked an eyebrow.
“Can I help you?”

...Leaking?
Absently he raised a hand to his face, grimacing a little as his fingertips came away tinged with red. Obviously at some point in his sleep he’d managed to poke the still healing wound or something. Still, it would be healed again soon enough and he wiped his hand on his jeans.
Stifling a yawn, Peter pushed himself up into a sitting position, blinking away sleep and taking a look at the kid who’d been staring at him. Not one he recognised but then again it had been a while since he’d visited the mansion.
“What time is it anyway?”

Peter got the feeling he was being watched.
So maybe he’d decided to stop by the mansion for a bit. And maybe he had a few bruises and cuts (that were quickly healing) from where he might or might not have gotten caught up in a protest in the city, but it was nothing serious and he’d just wanted somewhere to kip for a bit. So naturally he’d slipped into the X-Mansion and dropped down onto the sofa. Except now there was daylight forcing its way through his eyelids, and the definite feeling of eyes on him. Cracking one open, he frowned a little.
“Didn’t anyone ever tell you it’s rude to stare, kid?”

“Dude, you dropped your walkman,” Peter called out, turning the piece of tech over in his hands with appraising eyes. Not dissimilar to his own which was currently attached to his belt, although the headphones hung loose around his neck, goggles perched on the top of his head as he called after the other.

“So I hear you’re sticking around too then?”
Yeah, Peter had never been great at small talk.
Maybe it came from the whole speed aspect, but then again, he hadn’t been particularly good at general social conversation before his mutation had kicked in either. He’d always had a tendency to ramble in order to fill silences which apparently most people found annoying. Who knew?
Once the speed had happened though, he’d had something else to fill the silences with. Except now, with his leg in a cast and firm orders to ‘not fucking run Peter’ it meant that the silences were back and he picked at the top of the cast with pursed lips before glancing back at the other mutant.

THIS BLOG IS BEING REBOOTED
I finally have wifi in my new flat and as such, I’m rebooting this blog and starting fresh. As such I will be dropping all threads (except for the thread with @strangcrdoctor ) and starting new, so hmu if you want to plot something or send me some ask memes.
Also worth noting that I am primarily going to be an X-Men Cinematic Universe Quicksilver, but I will have a verse for MCU Pietro that people can play with at their request.

Well that was reassuring. The guy could just be an amnesic axe murderer rather than a remembering one, not that such a thought really bothered Peter. He’d always attracted trouble as his mother had often fondly (although more often in annoyance) said. Still, in nine out of ten cases he could get away without a scratch in a heartbeat anyway, and in those he couldn’t (his mind briefly went to Apocalypse before he shoved that thought away harshly), well, he was pretty sure Charles would still be able to read his mind from this distance. Probably.
“It’s kinda what I do, man,” he shrugged, popping his bubblegum. Jogging, hell, even walking for him was far faster than any human could manage. Forcing himself to walk at ‘normal’ speeds? It felt like torture, like he was dragging himself through molasses, but apparently he had to go through it while inside the mansion so as not to knock any budding young mutants off their feet. Or something like that.
A silver eyebrow quirked at the man’s next statement and he folded his arms across his chest, shifting from foot to foot impatiently, feet scuffing the dirt and wearing small tracks in it. His fingers were itching to nick something from the guy, but the more rational part of his mind (and even he was surprised that he had one) reassured him that such a thing wasn’t a good idea, especially when he didn’t even know the guy, or his capabilities. Plus it wasn’t generally a nice thing for people.
“The future? Don’t tell me you’re from the future or something. Because the last time this happened to me, I got into deep shit with my mother for breaking a terrorist out of the Pentagon. And I’d really rather not repeat that incident. Even if it was super fun.”
And that was probably too much information, but then Peter had always been one to run his mouth (alongside everything else). Still apparently this random guy knew the Prof, so Peter figured he couldn’t be too bad. Well, relatively speaking anyway.
“Dude, I finished high school years ago. Haven’t really got the patience for teaching much. So I do a lot of running. Prof says I should practice to see if I can increase my top speed and all that. So who are you anyway?” he popped the bubblegum again, shifting and shoving his hands in his pocket.

“Some people might argue that I’m childish all the time,” he grinned a little, shifting somewhat to take more weight off his leg. He’d gotten pretty quick with the crutches, but because of how quickly his body metabolised everything, painkillers weren’t an option, so he just had to deal with it.
{+ hesjustfast}
“Aren’t we all though?” Iris asked with a soft giggle as she adjusted her position on the window. “Yeah well, whats the point in growing up if you can’t be childish sometimes?”
