writing fanfiction is just. i’m being so creative and original. i’m plagiarizing everyone by accident. i’m a genius. i’m cringe. i’m too angsty. i’m too cheesy. this is not in character. it doesn’t matter that it’s not in character because these are my characters now. i love my hobby. this is the worst possible use of my time. i’m seeking validation. i’m projecting my own personal problems onto this story and i’m barely hiding it. i know so many words and i’m using all of them wrong. im on tumblr posting about it instead of writing it.

Looking back, I’m glad this was the decision I made. Every one else was already mad at him at the time, but he never heard Len’s thoughts bc he’s dead and all that, but Kaito just assumed (understandably) that Len wouldn’t be pleased, so when Len expressed that wasn’t mad, that he was forgiving, Kaito just. Broke down. After years of metaphorical self flagellation and hating himself, the victim of his wrongdoing is out here granting him forgiveness, something which he’s under the strong belief that he doesn’t deserve, and I think said forgiveness contrasts and, in turn, intensifies the self loathing and the eventual decision Kaito had come to

Something I wanted to go for in Loss is that the Len who Kaito keeps seeing in his dreams eventually turns on him and is like “how could you do this to me I had a whole life ahead of me and you took it all away” but I realized that it would sting more if Len remained nice to him actually. Like maybe it’s just me but when I fuck up it actually hurts a lot more when people are patient with me rather than when they (rightfully) lose their shit yk?
