"Let no man part"

Madeline felt calm despite the tears that streamed down her face as she placed the heavy book on the soft earth she was kneeling on and lit the candles. She hadn’t stopped crying for days now and must have been a sight to see with the dirt ruining her dress with stains, not that there was anyone around to take notice of her.

People just didn’t visit a place like this, at least not at this hour. Even if they did, few people ever took notice of the blonde woman. Johan did though and that was one of the reasons Maddie loved him. They had been so happy together and the day he proposed to her had been the happiest day of her life.

Which made it even more unfair that she was not wearing a white dress but a black one instead on the day that should have been their wedding day, the day that she should have been a bride instead of kneeling on the grave of the man she loved.She had lost the person that always saw her, but the one advantage of not being seen by people was that the failed to notice what you were doing and so no one had taken notice of her plan. It had been no problem to get all the things she needed to do this, including Arthur’s book of spells. If he had known about this her brother would have stopped her, but he didn’t know.

He might have told her this was wrong or maybe that was this tiny part of her that went ignored that knew she shouldn’t be doing this, but it didn’t matter. Maddie didn’t care! She would get Johan back and then they would be happy again. Emma and Henri would have their big brother back. All of them would be together again! It didn’t matter what price she would have to pay.

So Madeline started chanting the spell and kept repeating the spell until the ground began to move. Not stopping she kept chanting and only fell silent as a form emerged from the new grave and she looked into Johan’s eyes, she had never seen that look in them before and it frightened her.

It frightened her so much she didn’t move as her love wrapped his hands around her throat and left her unable to breath before kissing his bride.“We’ll be happy again.” He whispered. “We’ll all be together again.”
