you don't know how incredibly happy i am to be able to finally post this

the "second part" of my shadowvanilla AU aaaaaaaankdsnasnsdalsdkandlnasd (part one here)

i underestimated the process of making these, i didn't expect to take this long! but at least it's finished. sorry if the conversation feels kinda unnatural, i only know how to make characters yap by themselves. take this bonus:

some extra things below :)

i thought i was, unintentionally, mischaracterizing shadow milk in my "first part", so i wanted to make sure to demonstrate that, even in a "friendship AU", he was, is, and still will be a complex character; having second thoughts about everything, hating and loving at the same time, etc etc etc. i'm sorry for the people who said this will be wholesome, i created it with angst in mind...!

on the other hand, pure vanilla's design has been slightly altered:

i came in conclusion that i didn't understand his outfit at all, so i made my "own" version how it should normally look. i added more yellow because i thought all white was kinda... too much. i forgot to add the dark and white stripes around it in the comic lol. i'm sorry, there will be a LOT of inconsistencies (and also artstyle changes) due to forgetting things. like i forgot to draw the eyes under the cape aaghh!

an AU fact! pure vanilla's sight hasn't improved, but he doesn't need the staff like before (besides, the staff doesn't even have an eye... RIP orchid). he keeps it out of habit, but when relaxed, he hardly uses it. and last, pure vanilla prefers to read in braille.

onto another shadow milk's info: did you know his pupils wide when talking to, or looking at pure vanilla? like a cat! (that also happens in part one)

i want to talk about everything a bit more, but i don't even know if i will continue this or not. i'm having fun drawing and creating things for the AU, but sometimes i think i'll just quit this "project" like other projects i had. it would be sad if so, but i'll try to continue if i still see that you guys like this AU (that's my main motivation!)

how does Scar feel about Grian thinking that he is courting him and the whole egg situation

I think all the Hermits, including Scar, think that this egg situation is just a phase and will burn out soon. Grians not hurting anyone or himself, so… just let him have the egg… He’ll snap out of it.

I think most Hermits think the egg is empty anyway, so they don’t really want to upset Grian while he’s vulnerable.

I don’t think Scar realizes he’s courting Grian, not right away. He always gives him gifts ! And he always dresses nice. Grian also occasionally hugs him in gratitude, that’s all normal for them.

I think Scar finally notices somethings up when Grian hugs him—and then climbs onto his lap. Scar has to hold him to make sure they don’t flip his chair. Scar thinks maybeee Grian is just really happy, until he starts mumbling abt their egg.

Scar….. obviously is confused. The Hermits would absolutely tease him, congratulate him on the egg and laugh bc of course Scar would be the one to accidentally get into this situation.

I think despite the confusion and slight embarrassment, Scar would still support Grian and sorta go along with it. He’d try to not play with his feelings tho, try to not actively court him, but he’s not rly even sure where he’s going wrong !

It’s not the worst thing in the world, Grians not doing anything besides being more clingy and affectionate. However, I think that Grian would also notice if Scar was trying to be distant, not giving gifts, etc. Grian looks heartbroken when Scar doesn’t want to hold the egg—so Scar has to immediately backpedal and offer to hold the egg. It’s not so simple.

I can also see this getting to Scar tho. He happily wraps his arms around Grian and then after a beat of silence wonders if he does like Grian on a deeper level, or if the routine is getting to him. But he can’t really act on that and figure it out while Grians egg crazy !

Scar worries that the egg is also making him crazy.

ah. Depressed Nilla, how’d that happen? Did he just go absolutely numb coming to (what he believes to be) the revelation that no matter what he does he’ll only bring pain and just breaks? What is going through his mind right now? Also would Mystic look at how Nilla currently is and go “oh wow, is this how people felt looking at me when I was apathetic, holy—yeah that is concerning and unnerving…”
