I was at work a few months ago in the US and was telling my coworkers at lunch about how in BC, the Okanagan region has very good wine and it’s the regional equivalent of Sonoma or Napa Valley.
Their reaction was “lol Okanagan is a funny word” and I was beyond annoyed because English isn’t the only language and Okanagan is the name of a region, a lake, a language, and a people.

this post sucks so bad massachusetts takes its name from the indigenous massachusett people who were genocided and whose land was stolen and that would be obvious if you would think for a single second and look up the etymology before posting. mocking a native language that was eradicated for centuries and is only now beginning to be revived is not fucking funny it is ignorant and racist and cruel

One thing that I love about “Kaguya-Sama: Love is War” is that the series, as a whole, works as a sort of deconstruction of the romcom genre (specifically, the romcom genre in manga/anime). I’ve written multiple posts about this already, but one example of how the series works as a deconstruction is that when the series finally has the two leads kiss, we’re only halfway into the story.
Yeah, in most other series, the end is the confession and the kiss. In “Kaguya-Sama”, one could argue that the REAL story begins AFTER the first kiss.

“no matter how badly you think you’re doing it, someone else has done it a lot worse and been fine” is applicable to a wide, wide range of things and i say it to myself all the time

Azerbaijan has blocked all the roads to Nagorno-Karabakh for over 7 months now. People are starving, not receiving the medical help they need, there's no fuel... It is a "silent genocide."
The article above doesn't explain why other countries aren't doing anything, but my local paper where I saw this news did, and it is a combination of the following things:
– Azerbaijan is allied with Turkey, which "Western" countries are trying not to annoy at the moment, because of the situation at the Black Sea being a bit delicate rn.
– Azerbaijan also has a lot of natural resources related to energy, which the EU is horny for.
– BP has also invested massively in Azerbaijan energy stuff, so Britain is also not gonna do anything to endanger all that money.
– Russia is busy with its war in Ukraine, so it is not doing its part in keeping the road open as agreed in the cease fire between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
