One day, while Kevin and Neil are having a heated argument in French on the court one of the freshmen yells:

"Speak English!"

Annoyed by the intrusion, Kevin and Neil share a look and silently decide on malicious compliance.

Neil, though born in America, was raised by his British mother and would use a British accent whenever they spoke English in Europe to blend in.

Kevin is Irish. Born in Ireland, raised by his Irish mother until her untimely death.

They both switch to their 'mother tongues', speaking English but in thick British and Irish accents.

The team can barely understand them. Reprimands and insults are met with confusion. The freshmen are frantic, trying to figure out how to correct their technique when they can only understand every few words. The upperclassmen can't stop laughing, Matt and Allison are trying to repeat some of the words in mock British and Irish accents.

Andrew is in silent turmoil as he discovers a new turn on with an hour of practice still to go.

do you think aaron thinks about the kids he grew up with. do you think he knows what happened to them or if he's tried to forget. do you think sometimes he dreams about home (what used to be home, anyway), and sees sunken eyes of new addicts younger than he was. does he think about the ones that went to juvie, the ones that killed themselves, the parents that got away with destroying their kids and leaving them to pick up the pieces. do you think he ever wonders what happened to the girl he sat across from in the police station, to the boy he sold to until he ran out of money and disappeared. do you think he wonders if there's kids still in the same position he was, feeling that same kind of lost and turning to those same vices to make it all go quiet for a little longer. do you think he wonders who sits in his place, at the back of the room in mandatory anti-drug talks, trying not to make eye contact with anyone, even when everybody's staring at them anyway. do you think he ever notices a kid in the street and just has this unshakeable feeling of you're like me. do you think it makes him angry to be powerless. do you think he hates the way lecturers and professors talk about addiction, their tones so detached and studying and disappointed as if it's a disease. as if kids choose to live like that. do you think that's why aaron wants to be a doctor.

renee walker is 7 hours away from having spent more time playing minecraft than she spent in a juvenile detention centre. dan wilds is half indian but didn’t know her mom well and has been trying to learn hindi on duolingo then giving up then trying again for about six years. nicky is banned from the only pet store in palmetto. katelyn is from minnesota. andrew had his first ever panic attack during a mandatory team building exercise at school the one where they make you pick each other up and if you don’t like touching or are insecure about your weight then you want to die and take everyone there with you. matt boyd is incapable of eating a moderate amount of strawberries and will gorge himself to the point of diarrhoea every single time. allison’s glove box doesn’t close properly anymore because she broke the hinge cramming too much shit in there (nail polish, mace, exy gloves, annotated vogue catalogue, earrings, lip balm, neil’s ugliest jorts, deodorant, body spray, second deodorant for when kevin steals the other one, strawberry laces, condoms, save the planet leaflet, gum, one high heel, tiara she acquired on a night out, about $12 in loose change, one of neil’s fake IDs, eyeliner pencil, mascara, taser, collar she found in the corridor at fox tower that she’s 90% sure nicky got for one of andrew’s cats but won’t ask because of the other 10%, single loose battery). aaron is allergic to face paint. kevin always believes he can do a backflip if he’s been drinking martinis but has only ever landed it once. jean moreau has five sylvanian family figurines (two from renee two from laila and one he and cat found in a thrift store) and he says they are pointless but loves them and sometimes taps them on the head before he goes to sleep to say goodnight.

A fic where Neil finds out that Aaron has an annoying classmate or 2 in his fancy doctor school and Aaron has now demoted Neil to "not as bad/not as irksome as these assholes" which makes Neil super offended because who are these bozos that have taken his #1 spot for being Aaron's Biggest Headache?

Like Neil takes it personally and demands Aaron bump him back up as Aaron's Most Hated and gets pissed when Aaron's just "Can't lie, right now Connor and George of doctor legacy fams and secret old money frats got you beat Josten"

Andrew has to listen to Neil complain about the audacity of anyone replacing him as Aaron's Unmatched Vibe Killer and Andrew wonders if Neil'll plot something out of pocket to get Connor and George up outta here so Aaron can focus on his priorities of being the Tom to Neil's Jerry as forever enemies/opps/nemesis til death do they part. They'll never be friends, but Neil is used to their hostile dynamic being a constant and needs Aaron to keep the same energy.

Andrew adding this to the growing list of interesting things Neil cares about while also wondering if he can "remove" Aaron's classmates because they're somehow causing Aaron and Neil stress simultaneously (and Neil has never met them in person either)

I find it interesting how Seth died such a similar death to Riko’s. A murder framed as a suicide. Like here you have (arguably) the least important Fox and the most important Raven. The first person to die and the last person to die. The character that got the plot rolling and the character that keeps trying to stop its procession. And they just. Die the exact same way. It’s a full circle moment and honestly such a satisfying way for Riko to go. He lived trying to prove that he was special, but in the end he died the same way his victim did.

Yes, Seth’s demise at the hands of the enemy made it so the team could function on Court, but Seth made it five full years when nobody else did. ‘I didn’t sign up for a freak show’ he says, despite staying, staying, staying until the rope he was clinging onto snapped and he was dragged into the abyss. Was he not then Wymack’s sole bright point in the tragedy that was the Foxes, the proof that whatever he was doing it was working, that he should keep on going, keep on carrying this self-made burden, keep on inviting disaster into the Foxhole Court in hope that it would bloom? When Neil dragged himself back to the Foxes during New Year’s a wreck of a body beaten near to death, did Wymack hold him thinking of the last one-the one who wanted to stay so badly too-snatched from them?
