Thanks to Rinual's Mod Menu I discovered that Iris has a hidden talent. She can incapacitate MTs! Iris doesn't get the chance to fight the imperials when the bros raid the fortress in the main story, but by using the mod and adding her as a guest you can let her join the fray. Use her Eclipse technique and you can watch her practically ripping the heads off MTs. Pretty badass! Game footage copyright Square Enix Co Ltd.

Noctis has some serious skills when it comes to swords. When he warps with the Katana of the Warrior the sword is in it's scabbard, as the sword flies through the air it is unsheathed but when Noct catches it, it is back in it's scabbard again. That's pretty nifty!

I guess The Leville hotel in Altissia don't pay their porters a living wage. This one is supplementing his income by moonlighting at the tourist information booth at the port. All images copyright Square Enix Co Ltd.

Not hidden but perhaps overlooked. In Altissia if you climb the winding stair that head up to the gondola station that takes you to Listro Park, half way up there is a square with a fountain and a winged statue. If you get close enough to the statue you can check the inscription.
"A goddess as merciful as the sea is wide, May Leviathan long protect this land. Peace be unto the Province of Accordo. Iedolas Aldercapt, emperor of Niflheim"
Rather of ironic considering what happens next.

I've visited Yureil Piazza in a previous post but today while I was exploring Altissia I noticed on the map it was referred to by a different name. You can see from the screenshot the gondola station at the palace is lablled Palazzo Altemeria Station. However, if you visit the palace with Ansel or God Mode you will see the station sign says Piazza Yuriel. It is also referred to as Piazza Yureil in a radio broadcast in the game.

Thanks to Rinual's Mod Menu Mod you can now explore the room in Fenestala Manor, Tenebrae, where Noctis stayed as a boy. If you look closely at the pictures on the wall above the beds you can see they are taken from the concept art for Tenebrae. All images copyright Square Enix Co Ltd.

Wandering around Altissia I stopped at the art stall to take a look at paintings. The artist has a definite style but some pictures seem different. They look suspiciously like screen shots with a painterly filter applied. All images copyright Square Enix Co Ltd.

Fans of Final Fantasy XV will be all too familiar with Ignis's facial scars after he puts on the Ring of Lucis and sacrifices his sight to save Noctis. As well as the scars on his left eye and right eybrow he also has scars on the bridge of his nose and his lower lip. I was going through some old screenshots of Episode Ignis when I noticed that immediately after his fight with Ardyn he doesn't have any marks on his nose or lower lip. He does, however, gain those scars in Verse 2 when he follows Ardyn, but that ending is not canon and he wouldn't end up with those scars later in the main game. I'm sure I'm not the first to spot this discrepancy and as Ignis is my favourite character I'm surprised I didn't notice it sooner.

Floating Fortress lands at Fort Vaullerey When the bros stop at Old Lestallum with Iris in the party a floating fortress flies overhead. As it disappeared over the horizon I wanted to know where it went so I followed it with Ansel. It was headed in the direction of Fort Vaullerey and I was surprised to see that it didn't just vanish once out of sight, it actually lands! Okay, it doesn't exactly land straight and the tail wipes out some covered containers and a raised platform, but it lands. The fuselage is raised into an upright position then the wings and tail disappear. You don't get to see any of this in the game. It happens while Noctis and party are in the car pulling up in Old Lestallum, but it's cool that they actually put it into the game. All images copyright Square Enix Co Ltd.

Gralea, as you've never seen it before. In daylight! Thanks to Rinual's Menu Mod, you can change the weather and time of day so I replayed Chapter 13 and explored the imperial city in glorious sunshine. I love the combination of building styles, residential, commercial and industrial, and I love how the different levels intersect. The fact that Noctis can walk on some of the pavements suggests there may have been plans to make the area playable but sadly we never got the chance. Zegnautus keep looks slightly less imposing in the daytime and quite pretty at dusk as the lights come on. The daemons flying through the sky are quite worrisome though! And if you ever wondered what is at the bottom of the crater, I'm afraid I can't tell you. The supports disappear into the mist and if Noctis follows them it triggers the GAME OVER screen. How far can Noctis warp? I always wondered how far Noct could warp. When you're heading towards a quest point the game displays a distance gauge which is rather useful. From a standing start on level ground with a sword, Noctis can warp around 50 feet (15 metres), but he can cover greater distances when warping to a warp point in battle.

What do chocobos eat? Ask any Final Fantasy player and they will tell you that chocobos eat gysahl greens. At Wiz's Chocobo Post you can buy special greens that affect the way your chocobo performs on the race track but I decided to take a look at what's actually in the chocobos food baskets. Greens (no surprise there) Carrots And potatoes!!! All images copyright Square Enix Co Ltd.

Cauthess Card Players
Have you ever noticed the two old men playing cards at Cauthess Rest Area. I was testing a re-texture mod that I'm working on and noticed their behaviour is a little unusual. They arrive at noon and begin their game. I don't know what game they are playing but they are both holding an identical hand, they mimic each other's movements, they both put down a red jack and then they pick it up again! I wonder if ether of them ever wins? Video copyright Square Enix Co Ltd

We all know Ignis loves his coffee, the man can't function without it, but did you know he likes it so strong that it defies gravity? I was photographing inside the tent at a haven and found this mug on it's side. You'd expect the coffee to have spilled on the floor but it's still there as if the mug were upright. That is one seriously strong cup of coffee! All images copyright Square Enix Co Ltd.

A picture of your favorite place in game?

A picture of my favourite place in the game? I love all of Eos but my most favourite place has to be Galdin Quay. Golden sands, clear waters, two fishing spots, a fantastic sea food restaurant and views over the water to Angelgard. It's so quiet and peaceful. It looks so beautiful at night with the Mother of Pearl all lit up. What more could you ask for? All images copyright Square Enix Co Ltd.

Welcome to the Crown City The Crown City Checkpoint is the gateway to Insomnia. I've visited and photographed the place many times but it wasn't until today I noticed the signs. On the Lucis side there is a sign that says, "Welcome to the Crown City" and on the Insomnia side there is another sign that says, "We look forward to your next visit". I thought they were a really nice touch then I realised they were on the wrong side of the road. The signs are on the left. In Lucis they drive on the right.

The Moogle Chocobo Carnival!
Back in early 2017 Square Enix added the Moogle Chocobo Carnival to Final Fantasy XV. Noctis got to visit the carnival in Altissia, explore the decorated city and play mini games such as chocobo racing, hitting cactuars with a squeaky toy hammer, finding runaway chocobo chicks and of course, fishing! The carnival was time limited so more recent players (such as myself) missed their chance. That was until a very clever chap named Kizari spent almost a year toiling over the code to bring the carnival back as a Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition mod. It is an absolute joy to play. There is so much to see and do. With Carbuncle as your companion you can easily navigate the city, you can even warp across canals. There are plenty of photo opportunities and I recommend saving up your medallions to stay at the Leville and get the best seat in the house for the firework display. Just keep an eye out for a certain Kenny Crow ;) It's a must have mod for any discerning FFXV player and it's so simple to install with Flagrum's mod manager. Download the carnival mod here today: https://www.curseforge.com/final-fantasy-xv/mods/moogle-chocobo-carnival All images copyright Square Enix Co. Ltd.
