The lost girl 403 words
They live in the woods in between a small town and the vast expenses of trees between them and any other civilization. This is important to note because there really is nowhere a child could’ve come from.
There are no children in the village and we’re a far enough walk that it would be too hard for a child and a person, even an adult, could not survive in that forest alone. Which is why it is so strange when every night our doorway rings. Loudly singing through the air, the opening to a small child strangely dressed in unstained white. “I'm lost please help me”. She cries and begs us to bring her to her mother, but the second you look away, she’s gone as though she never existed at all.
The next night her dress is billowing in the wind as she sheds terrified tears. She insists that she walked from the nearby city, that they just need to drive her back and her mother will take her. It’s only a short drive.
The nearest city is at least 10 hours away even by plane. There are some rumors of an abandoned city somewhere in the woods.
Did she come from the ruins? The only thing around her abandoned piles of wreckage and trees. she would be so lonely there. No one should ever have to be that lonely. It's impossible though because nobody has survived those woods in years.
Every single person who went into them came back unidentifiable after what happened to them. Nobody knows exactly what it was, but they were covered in bark from head to toe engrossed in it; seemingly made of it. At first they thought they seemed to be just statues of the people, just statues of the people strangely reminiscing of what they had lost before they realized they were still breathing ever so slowly Each breath, the wheezing, choking, seeming to leave them agonizingly starved for the oxygen they need within a few days.
They became nothing but trees. Or perhaps some other plant from the forest no one knows. She thinks the forest girl must be some kind of similar creature, some kind of lost spirit or soul not quite there not quite left. She wishes could help her if she would stay for longer she would invite her in and try to help her, maybe stop whatever turned her into.

The rats. words 131
Underneath the streets, something is crawling creeping, chattering little feet pitter pattering
I’ve been here since long before this street was built long before trees were cleared before the creatures came
There was never chattering not when they were was the ever present noise of footsteps, not when there was the silence of a forest, not when the machines came
there was never little feet. There was never chattering and then suddenly there was. The silence was gone, filled with their little mumbles. The ever present the ever present humming mumbling, tumbling noise, their nests make their footsteps walking back-and-forth
They gnaw at my roots, turning them unfeeling unhearing slowly overtime. The noise is getting quieter, but I know it’s still there just as loud I am just less here now

~the old pet store~ 303 Words
Tumblr media
Deep into the city covered in yellow fluffy mold with the occasional mushroom sticking out, lays a old hidden shop, long since abandoned a old almost falling apart window display reads “the rustic pet Emporium get all of your pet related needs!”
if you walk into the store, you will find dozens of strangely steel, trapped and alive birds and dozens of little lizards and a few tiny kittens in the very back you can hear barking all strange tint to their eyes a yellow orange color but occasionally it looks like something is moving under the surface slowly crawling if you look at any of the animals long enough, you slowly start to realize they’re not moving quite right almost stumbling.
They’re joints clicking with every movement and the calls and meows and other sounds are just barely off not quite what you would expect almost like somebody trying to mimic what they think a cat or a dog or bird should sound like, but they’ve never actually heard it.
the longer you listen more wrong it feels sending shivers up your spine if you turned directly to your left, you might find the feed bins entirely encrusted in yellow mushrooms with orange mold in between them the further back go into the feed aisle the denser it is until you can’t go any further if you were to turn into the management room, you might find what looks like a abandoned office clearly left at great speed coffee, half drinking and papers left sprawled across the chair kicked to the floor.
After wandering around the pet store until dark, you might start to hear a strange calling crying sound from outside the shop it draws you in slowly pulling you something telling you to go with it.

~the mushroom tower~ 146 words
Tumblr media
In the woods somewhere deep and not seen in years is an abandoned city that’s story was long since lost
Dogs wander the streets, although they move rather oddly they walk is disjointed and stumbling and if you look close enough, it’s almost like there’s something growing out of there ever sad, longing eyes
All of the buildings falling down and barely recognizable as anything other than rocks are interested in yellow fluff in the springtime drift through the air onto the forest creatures and anything it touches is come winter
If you were to venture through the ruins past building after building, you would eventually come to one still standing tower that glows in the night the entire tower seems sealed and impossible to get inside there’s an ever present humming noise coming from the top of the building. I wonder what it could be……

~deep in the forest~ 155 words
Tumblr media
“Before there were children in the forest, it was so quiet…..
I miss that time…….”
“….. maybe it was for the best that it changed though I’m not sure the trees liked the silence. They've certainly quieted down since the children came cleaning each one with their charming little tokens…….”
“I still haven’t made up my mind about the children…..”
“Sometimes they leave me acorns and little shells. It’s strange, but I find myself fond of them…..”
“….I hope they’re still here after what’s to come…….Most of us will try to protect them, I think……”
“their innocence is charming in a way even if it can be destructive at times……..”
“I’d like their gifts to be somewhere a little safer they might roll off the cliffs where they are……”
“…..I would move myself, but I’m not entirely sure I can anymore It’s been so long since I moved…….”

This is the introduction for one of my favorite OCs! she will show up a lot in short stories!
This is 282 words
~the button trees~
Tumblr media
“What are you?” for a moment she stood still contemplating. sad mournful look on her face.
“I suppose now not very many things, but I used to be the keeper of lost and hidden places meadows only deer had seen caves, so deep underground, barely anything, lives there, the bottom of the ocean, with all of the strange creatures that reside there.”
“And maybe I’m not made of less now, but it’s definitely different now I’m the ends of forgotten about alleyways the crows nest, hidden in the nooks of buildings it used to be my job you know to protect the little nooks and crannies of the world I think it still is, but sometimes I wonder if somewhere along the way I failed.”
For a minute the child looked at her considering. “I think you must’ve succeeded because I am here”
“Perhaps.” “maybe I didn’t fail per se, but I don’t think I did what was necessary to protect what was under my care and now, even if it still exists, it will be different.”
“After a moment, the little one ran off back into the forest the trees bending gently to protect them from the sun”
“I hope at the very least, I don’t fail you too littlest” she said, in a gentle whisper, far too quiet to be heard by anyone except the trees
Then she turned around and returned to collecting buttons off the trees slowly filling the basket she was holding with strangely shaped buttons.
eventually, she too much like the child. She had been talking to walked off into the woods although the trees were not sheltering her they were leaning ever so slightly away.

hi! I wanted to post some of my writing so this blog is going to be forest horror type stuff I hope you enjoy! My plan is to post on wed and sun but this is the first time I’ve tried posting my original work so we’ll see how it goes! I primarily am going to post short stories all in the same world called the lost place (still workshop the name) each short story is about some kind of forest creature or just how horrifying nature can be and I might occasionally post snippets of my graphic novel, which is about a dystopian society that is meant to talk in large part about the horror of capitalism!
If anybody is interested in commissions at some point, feel free to DM I do 1000-2000 commissions occasionally although I’ve never done them from social media!
Thank you for reading this. I hope you enjoy any short stories!
